“Young Master, it’s bad!” exclaimed Arius as he rushed in.
Arius ran in, “Young Master, it’s horrible!” he shouted.
A phone was resting on Preston’s head while he was lying on a recliner. He spins on the chair ever so slowly, casting Arius a chilling, dangerous glance that reads, “I loathe being disturbed during conference sessions.”
He stopped the call and turned his frigid stare back to it before crossing his arms. “This had better be significant.”
According to the information I received, “Young Miss Hydeia and Little Miss Inari just arrived in Harithon.”
Preston’s stunning face was expressionless. Arius would have thought he was unaffected by the news if not for the little twitch on his lips.
The young and little miss, in question here are Preston’s sisters. And to say they are a handful most times will be an understatement.
It’s not a coincidence because they popped up in Harithon. They could have heard that Preston was going to be here, which is why they showed up. They are simply here to look into what they learned regarding Preston’s whereabouts.
Preston cursed under his breath and picked up his phone. He was about to swipe it open when Mark’s call came through.
“Yes?”
“Bad news, sir! Your wife has been admitted to a mental health facility!”
Preston blinked with shock. “What?” he asked, aware that his little wife occasionally exhibits a bit of a crazy side that he adores, but he never imagined it getting to a stage where she’s taken to the hospital.
“I don’t know the whole story, but when I found her, she was in the van and unconscious. As we speak, I am currently in their wake.
Preston was already on his way before he could finish. “Send me the location.”
Arius stopped him just before he got to the door. “Your mask…” he muttered hesitantly. He still couldn’t process why Preston was putting on a mask. Not just any mask, an ugly mask for that matter! Is it some sort of game rich people play?
Why else would someone want to make themselves ugly?
After a brief pause, Preston commanded, “Get the car ready.”
On the other hand, Lenora woke up with a start, groaning at the pain she felt in her neck. Everywhere was so bright, she strained her eyes to look past the bright light.
She needed a few minutes before she realized she was in a room with a few insane folks dressed in white! similar to her, except that although she wasn’t psychotic, she was misdiagnosed as such!
Damn it!
Why has nothing been going well lately?
She rose, ran her hands through her hair in frustration, and breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that the crazed individuals were busy with their own affairs. She scanned the door as she gently tipped toed toward it.
There is no handle on the door, so you can only open it from the outside.
Lenora banged on the door, frustrated. “Hello?? Anyone?!”
“Open up, I’m not crazy, okay?! I’m Lenora Gonzalez!” the more she pounded on the door, the more agitated she became but then something abruptly prodded her from behind, stopping her in her tracks.
It’s not what she’s thinking, is it?
Her heart began thumping as she slowly turned around and… “Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!”
Before she could stop herself, a scream burst from her mouth. An elderly woman who appeared to be in her fifties was standing in front of her. Her hair covered her slightly wrinkly face.
Not only was the woman’s presence startling to Lenora because she wasn’t expecting it, but she also caught the woman’s weird eyes’ fixation on her. It was eerie as hell!
“I know you.” the woman smiled exposing her missing tooth. “Let me touch you,” she said inching toward her.
Lenora moved backwards till her back pressed tightly against the wall. “No, no, no. Damn it! No touching! Keep your hands to yourself!”
She was about to dive to the other side of the room when she notice that everyone in the room has stopped what they were doing and were now looking at her. They were curious.
Lenora immediately got a bad feeling when she saw them getting up and began moving towards her. Lenora’s mouth wobbled as tears formed in her eyes.
She may be strong-headed but not in things like this. This was a nightmare! One she desperately needs to wake up from.
Just as she was distracted, the old woman grabbed Lenora’s neck causing her eyes to widen from fear. “Y-you! What are you doing? Let go!”
Instead, the woman took the worn-looking jade pendant Lenora had always worn around her neck and strode away, cooing.
“Hey! Give that back!”
Before she could go after the woman, the curious mad people started pulling at her hair and her clothes making Lenora ground her teeth in anger.
“Let go of me!” she shrieked just as the door burst open.
Everyone’s attention was diverted when nurses rushed in carrying shots. Everyone except Lenora, who rushed to the elderly woman and reclaimed the amulet with force.
After she tied it back to her neck, she realized an unusual silence in the room and turned only to find out that the nurses has injected the woman.
And one particular nurse in person was trudging towards her slowly with an injection in hand.
Lenora’s hands immediately shot out protectively in front of her while moving backwards. “No, don’t do that… My name is Lenora Gonzalez, I’m definitely not crazy.”
That earned a few snorts from the nurses behind. “Lenora?”
“Well, that’s what they all say, isn’t it?”
She was about to jab her with the injection when the door busted open the second time. “Miss Lenora Gonzalez?”
Her heart blossomed with hope. Did someone notice her absence? Has her grandfather been keeping tabs on her?
This, perhaps, would be the first time Lenora didn’t feel annoyed at the idea.
“Yes?”
“Come on out. We are so sorry for everything. It’s a misunderstanding.”
Lenora straightened her back, and gazed at the nurse who was about to inject her as if to say, see? I told you!
She exited the room in a huff, hurrying down the hallway to find out who had saved her from this nightmare. She had anticipated seeing her granddad or, worst even, her cousin Lucinda’s sister.
She was shocked to see the most attractive man she had ever seen standing by himself, engrossed in his phone with the other hand in his pocket. What’s going on?
She turned to the nurse to confirm it, “My family members are not here?”
The nurse frowned and said, “There, he claims to be your darling husband,” pointing at the man in front of her. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience, ma’am.”
Lenora looked up as the woman walked away to see the stunning stranger approaching her. It seemed as though he owned the earth with each step. He emanated a commanding air, one that causes everyone to pause what they are doing in order to stare at him.
His sleek Armani suit, right down to the shiny shoe he was putting on, screams wealth. Lenora’s heart was pounding, and she knew right once that this wasn’t an ordinary individual.
She was absolutely certain that she had never met him before.
She was very sure she’s never met him in her entire life. But then, his eyes… Why do they seem so familiar?
Just like that of her husband?
I thought only one family on earth has this unique kind of eyes or could it be a myth? Given that this is the second individual with those eyes, anyone may have them.
At this time, he already stopped in front of her but before he could speak up, Lenora blurted, “Who the f*ck are you?”
