There!
Preston pondered. This is the snarky, impolite, and haughty Lenora that everyone has been talking about. That he had never before seen this side of her astonished him. Seems like it only comes out when she is among strangers.
“What? You’re dumb?” she yelled, gazing impatiently at the door and mentally swearing when she observed how dark it was outside.
Although she doesn’t like her husband, she couldn’t help but worry about him. He must be going crazy searching for her now. How could she have forgotten about him?
She gave the elegant man a frigid stare as a result of the notion. She would have drooled at his attractiveness under different circumstances, but right now… “Speak! Who requested that you release me on bail? What do you want, exactly? You can give me your number, I’ll contact you soon.”
With that said, she strutted around him in an attempt to leave.
Preston was left stunned by her actions. Right! She doesn’t know who I am, what was I thinking?
He caught her hand just before she could step further away, his head quickly searching for an explanation to use. “I’m afraid you need to hear this Ms, Lenora.”
Lenora halted. Not because of what he said, but rather because his authoritative demeanour compelled submission.
However, she didn’t turn to face him, instead, waited for him to speak. ” I recently checked in on my company’s operations after visiting the state, and guess what? There is 20 billion dollars total missing. Your coworkers claimed you took it with you and are already preparing to use it for your own business.”
Lenora spun around in his direction so swiftly to stare at him as the words hit her like a bomb. She lost her footing causing her to fall flat on her ass. “Ouch!”
Hissing, she looked up at the man who hadn’t bothered to offer her a helping hand and was wiping the hands he’d used to grip her like some sort of trash…
Lenora balled her hands into a fist, outraged by his actions. It felt like an insult!
No man has ever treated her like that!
She is pretty, that she knows and every single man she has come in contact with practically wants to lick her feet just to get close but him…
She exhaled slowly. She was putting on this outfit, and her hair was all over the place, and she was barefoot, so perhaps that’s why he couldn’t see her in all her beauty.
“Plus the additional $100, 000, 000 I used to bill you out of this asylum, Lenora overheard him say as she was preparing to stand up. How, therefore, Miss Gonzalez, how do you propose to resolve this?”
While gritting her teeth, Lenora stood up, scoffing. For someone who loves money so much, her ears have been ringing ever since he uttered the 20 billion. He must be joking, right?
How in the world did she owe such kind of debt, one that she was never aware of?
If your claims are true, bring me proof, or else you’ll pay for trying to extort me,” she said, pointing at him.
She whirled around and walked out in a huff. twenty billion? Ha! He’s a psycho, that much is clear.
Lenora walked farther into the distance after leaving the hospital, unsure of where to begin because she didn’t have her phone or money. How would she get home?”
An idea popped into her head just then causing her to pause. After a while, she turned back, storming into the hospital again.
Meanwhile, after she left, Arius stepped out of his hiding place and stared at Preston. “Your high-”
He quickly closed his mouth when Preston shot him a glare. “I mean, Young Master! The young miss is smart, she won’t buy the idea…”
“Arrange everything then. Go ahead and buy the shares of Gonzalez Empire.” since he had eavesdropped on their conversation, Preston didn’t bother elaborating. “You know what to do.”
“Yes!”
“Bring me my mask and my usual outfit, I need to get home before she does. Tell Mark to refrain from picking her up immediately.”
Right after Arius left to bring the mask, thumping footsteps heading towards Preston made him glance up. He was surprised to see Lenora marching towards him with pursed lips.
Preston’s eyes gleamed with delight as he observed her appearance. How is it that she seems even more seductively dishevelled and angry?
He didn’t know what came over him but the idea of returning now didn’t sit well with him, he had to look for a reason to stay and this… was the perfect option.
Lenora halted in front of him, puffing her cheeks while pointing her fingers at him in anger. Preston had to fight the impulse to squeeze her cheeks.
God.
How can she be this cute? Seeing her pouted lips, the only thought in feeling his mind was the taste of her lips the last time he kisses her.
He could feel himself salivating to taste her again, to touch her, feel her sensuous breath on his skin as she moan his name, he wanted to feel her soft skin in his palms while she lay underneath him, shivering from pleasure… from ecstasy. He wanted to-
“Your phone!” Lenora’s voice snapped him out of his reverie.
Shit!
Why does she seem to affect him so much? The dominant aspect of him suddenly surfaced, leaving him clenching his fist as he took a deep breath. He wants her, now!
He wants to make her his! And, he has… not just completely.
“Here,” said Arius as he suddenly materialized and dropped his phone into Lenora’s hand.
Lenora gave them both a quick glance before excusing herself to phone Mark. She could have sworn she saw something in the stranger’s eyes just now.
A burning passion before it disappeared in a blink of an eye.
Her face flushed pink in embarrassment. Huh?
Shaking her head, Lenora quickly typed Mark’s contact into his phone and dialled. Moments later, ‘Sorry, the number you’re trying to call is currently not reachable.’
No, no, no! Damn it!
By the time she went back, the stranger was gone and only his guard was left standing there.
In contrast to what he was donning previously, Preston arrived at Maple’s estate thirty minutes later in his typical disguise and dishevelled clothing. Anyone would be hesitant to approach him because of his messy hair and terrible features.
A stranger could be seen approaching him just as he was going to enter the area mansion after texting Mark to go pick up Lenora.
He blinked into the darkness, unable to identify who it was, however, he caught the sight of a steel knife in the person’s hand.
“Ugly fool, we’ve finally met you alone.”
“What?”
A twig snapped behind suddenly.
But before he could turn, someone whacked him in the head from behind. He could only curse silently in his mind just before he fell and lost consciousness.
