Preston never expected the quick change in her. He was nevertheless, beyond pleased. If she always acts like this instead of some stuck-up billionaire, won’t his plans go on a bit faster?
He obediently opened up, allowing her to feed him-something that no one has ever done before. If it were someone else, he would have flung the tray away the moment she used her fingers to touch his food.
The moment the food touched his tongue, he froze. What the fuck! Salt! It was too salty.
He tried spitting it out but couldn’t as Lenora held his jaw all while smiling. “It tastes good, huh, husband??”
Preston couldn’t believe his ears. Tasty?
He conveyed a look as if to say he was just getting to know the person standing right in front of him. Evil! His new wife is a demon!
He was forced to swallow. Him! If words get out, how will he face the world? Have a taste of your own medicine, that’s simply what she was trying to say.
When she noted he has swallowed, she took the coffee from the table and fed it to him.
He hurriedly poured everything into his mouth in an effort to get the disgusting salty flavor of the bacon out.. The taste hit him seconds later making him freeze then slowly glanced up to look at his wife.
She was smiling sweetly at him! “Thank you so much hubby for the breakfast. It was so thoughtful of you but I think I’ll eat the chef’s food instead.”
With that, she turned on her heels and headed for the closet. The moment she left, Preston ran into the bathroom and spat everything out. He turned on the faucet and rinsed his mouth quickly.
Yikes! Why the hell did he not taste the coffee? It was the crappiest thing he has ever tasted. Why was it so bitter? And is that salt he used as sugar?
The aftermath taste made him gag all over again.
A few minutes later, he stared at himself while a small smile appeared on his lips. Interesting.
Many people who must have known Preston’s true identity know that he never does love, he merely plays with whoever he finds interesting and when he gets tired of them, he discards them like trash.
But ever since meeting Lenora, he knew she wasn’t just interesting. She is different!
By the time he walked out of the room, he found out that Lenora was done eating breakfast and was operating on a laptop.
“What do you say your friend’s name is, again?”
Preston halted on his step at her question. “Rhian Hayes.”
Her jaw dropped. “What?!!! Like, Rhian Hayes? The freakishly rich billionaire from the four most formidable families in Harithon? Holy shit,! Why the hell did you not tell me?!!”
“Um…” Why does she seem enthusiastic about his friend? His expression turned gloomy at the thought.
She ignored him and return her attention to the computer while typing furiously. A short while later, she stopped and turned to him with a wide smile.
After what happened in the bedroom, Preston has come to understand that her smile is not always as sweet as it looks. She’s up to something but the question is… What evil is she planning on doing this time around?
He was unable to handle it and yelled, “What?” Preston, who is skilled at reading people, failed miserably when it came to Lenora. At every step, she surprises him. “Has anyone told you, you have a creepy smile, wife?”
Her smile fell almost immediately and she motion him to come over. “Look at this! They are hiring.”
Preston walked over to read it and yes, Hayes Corporation needed a skilled engineer. Salary is to be decided by the person so long as he/she could resolve their crises.
Once he was done reading, he cast a glance at her. “So?”
“So, this is a great opportunity! I’m going to apply!”
Preston gave her small frame a quick once-over before saying, “They need an engineer, you’re not one,”
“I can become one!”
With that said, she started to type a few things, and after a short while, she hurried to the printer and pulled out some paperwork. “Here. This is my resume; hurry up, we have an interview coming up.”
Blinking, he stared at her. “We?”
“Of course, you’re going as my assistant.” she was already on her way upstairs to dress up.
If Preston had a drink in his mouth, he would have sputtered in horror when he cast a glance down at the document. What the f*CK?
His wife is a criminal!
How in the world did she fabricate her résumé and make it seem so authentic? Wait. When he recognized the name she had used on the document, he stopped.
Regina Rivers.
His face twitched several times because he didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Regina Rivers is an anonymous engineer. World best to be precise.
Although no one is aware of her appearance, numerous businesses have been attempting to locate her in order to hire her. The problem is that despite the enormous sums of money offered, she consistently refuses them. Many presume she’s probably from a rich background and hey! As the world’s best engineer, one can’t buy her with money.
She only chooses what work she’s interested in.
Nevertheless, that wasn’t what got Preston on the edge, it was the fact that Lenora was using someone else identity. Not just anyone but Regina!
Does she want to end up in jail? They will surely discover her when she’s not able to tackle the issue in the company.
Ahh, this is a bad idea and how the hell did he end up being her assistant?
He has never worked under anyone before, and the thought of doing so didn’t sit well with him at all. Not one bit.
Steps coming down the stairs could be heard at that very moment. When Preston turned back, he noticed an entirely different face from his wife’s.
Lenora typically has a face the size of his palm, a small heart-shape. Her large doe eyes, soft cheeks, strong jawline, full yet delicate pink lips, and refined nose are the most alluring features of her face, giving her a doll-like appearance. But all that was there was a plain woman in her early twenties standing there. Even Lenora’s long hair was nowhere to be seen as she packed it up in a tight bun.
“You!”
“You haven’t dressed up yet? Well, it doesn’t matter let’s go. Whoever asks, say you got hired by me.”
Her heels echoed with each step as she started to move gracefully towards the entrance. She turned as soon as she realized he wasn’t following, “Well? We are running late. Stop looking, it’s just makeup.”
Preston didn’t know how he left the house. He was still in a daze even as the driver drove them to the company. Nevertheless, anyone could tell that he just realised his wife isn’t someone he could mess with. What other thing is she hiding?
An hour later, the car arrived at Hayes Corporation and Lenora stepped out.
