Finally, he spotted Monique at a corner. Yes, he knew it was indeed her, although he hadn’t seen her for many years.
Nonetheless, she still looked dazzling. If it wasn’t for his outstanding performance and that he had already been acquainted with another woman in the past, perhaps he would be walking into a wedding hall with Monique.
However, it was not the life that Culver wanted. If he stayed by Monique’s side, he could only be an ordinary worker that had to toil and labor to fill his stomach.
Yet, at present, his accomplishments were simply extraordinary. With those thoughts in her mind, he watched her curiously.
Then, he politely informed his companions, “Everyone, please excuse me for a moment.”
The truth was, it was just a social etiquette. There was no guarantee that he would return.
Suddenly, a scream pierced through the air, shattering the lively and peaceful scene.
“Quick, help! Someone has fainted!”
A participant seated in the middle of the front row had fainted and fallen to the ground. Upon hearing the cry for help, the medical team quickly rushed over.
When such an accident happened, the emergency doctor would be the first to rush to the rescue. The other doctors would be on a standby by the patient’s side for any possible alert.
Monique kept repeating, “Please make way! Please allow space for the patient to breathe.”
Although an accident had occurred, most of them were relieved because there were doctors around.
The director of the emergency department took care of the patient personally. At that moment, the patient’s condition was serious as he was completely unconscious and his breathing was weak. The director could only keep performing the cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
A minute later, there was still no improvement. The doctors who were on standby at the ambulance brought over the stretcher, ready to send the patient to the hospital for emergency treatment immediately.
The patient’s face turned purple and his breathing even stopped.
Carlos Liu of the Merchants Bureau was sweating profusely. The person who had fainted was the general manager of a well-known company. If an accident were to happen, the Merchants Fair would gain negative attention.
Because Monique was just a surgeon, she was an expert at operations but rather helpless when it came to emergency treatments.
After bringing the stretcher over, she was about to move the patient out when Brucille stopped her.
“In his current condition, he’ll die on the way to the hospital.”
As Monique had been paying close attention to the patient, she did not even realize that Brucille was there as well. She wanted to stop him from doing anything at all. After all, the patient’s life was hanging precariously at the edge of death. It was a serious matter.
However, Carlos rushed over and implored, “Brucille, if there’s anything you can do, hurry up and do it!”
With his thumb, Brucille began to press a few acupuncture points on the patient’s body. Within a minute, the patient woke up.
“The patient is awake. However, I think it’ll be better to send the patient to the hospital for a follow-up examination to make sure that he’s all right.”
A batch of the hospital staff quickly sent the patient to the hospital. Because everyone was wearing plain clothes including the doctors on duty, everyone thought that Brucille was also a doctor.
At last, Carlos let out a long sigh of relief and clasped Brucille’s hand tightly, thanking him, “You saved me, Bruce! If something went wrong, I would have lost my position.”
“Carlos, this is just an accident. It has nothing to do with you.”
Just then, Carlos added, “The prescription you gave me has finished. Can you prepare a little more for me? My wife is not pregnant yet.”
“Carlos, the first prescription was meant to strengthen your wife’s body as your wife’s body is a little weak. I’ll give you another prescription later.”
Nevertheless, Carlos was still worried. Hence, he chased after him, suggesting, “How about this? I’ll pick you up another day, and you can take a look yourself. I’ll feel more at ease that way.”
“Okay, call me when the time comes,” Brucille agreed.
Brucille returned to look for Tommy after that. Tommy cursed discontentedly, “F*ck, are you seriously that bored that you have to dive into trouble? There are so many doctors around, why do you have to be so anxious?”
“Did you not see Monique there? If someone dies, will she not be in trouble?”
Delivering a large piece of abalone into his mouth, Francis’s oily lips moved around as he said, “I really need to tell you this. You have saved the patient, but you lost your wife in the process.”
Brucille narrowed his eyes as he did not know what Francis meant. “Can you not talk with your mouth full, please?”
“Have you seen your wife?”
Without giving it a thought, Brucille replied, “Is she not sending the patient to the hospital?”
After inserting another piece of meat in his mouth, Francis rose and put his arm around Brucille’s shoulder. Then, he led him to the walkway behind them and pointed at a corner. “You may not want to see this, but this is reality. Monique is chatting with another man. If you don’t believe me, go and see it for yourself.”
Brucille really did not notice that. He thought that Monique was on her way to the hospital with the ambulance. After all, that would be much more logical. However, she had not left the venue.
Quietly, he stalked toward the direction Francis had shown him. At the corner was the back door of the hall. When he took a peek, he saw a man and a woman.
He did not know the man, but he was certain that the woman was his wife Monique.
A wave of jealousy swept over him. However, on such an occasion, there was no way he could accurately identify their relationship. If he interrupted them, that would definitely make his and Monique’s relationship even worse.
Just as he was still trying to figure it out, he heard the sound of high heels approaching. It was Monique who was leaving, thus he quickly disappeared.
It seemed like there was nothing going on between them.
Meanwhile, Monique’s heart was beating with excitement, emotions, and joy. Culver invited her to have coffee that night, but Monique refused.
The reason was very simple. Her husband was there.
She wasn’t brazen enough to go out on a date with another man in public. Although she didn’t want to marry Brucille, her legal status as his wife shackled her down.
Brucille decided to pretend that he had not seen them together. Returning to his seat, Brucille asked, “Do you know that guy?”
Tommy snorted, “If you do not know, how would I know?”
An evil smile appeared on Francis’ face as he gleefully suggested, “You still don’t believe me. Just give me 20 minutes. I’ll be able to check him out for you.”
Francis did not break his promise. Twenty minutes later, he managed to find out about the man. He was Culver Huo.
Brucille repeated the name in his mind several times. Why did it sound familiar?
The name that Monique had called out while she was drunk the other day was Culver!
