” No ! Please wait. Wait. I have money for you.” Said Matilda’s and ran into her room, took out her safe under the bed and took out all the money from it.
” My lord! Here you are. It’s about two hundred and fifty dollars. That’s all I have saved all year the little we make we use for our food and the light bills. Please have mercy.” She cried as she crashed on the floor and held on the dirty timberland boots of Gallagher.
” Hmm… Two fifty dollars! What an Urchin. Any way this doesn’t pay up all you owe. But I’m not a bad man I’m I Durban.” Asked Gallagher as he snatched the notes from Matilda’s hand while still holding Ramsey by his shoulder.
” No Boss. You are so Merciful.” Said Durban as he looked at his boss in admiration.
” Yes indeed I am merciful. That’s the only reason why I won’t take one of your cattle today. Just know that you have to work harder this month to pay off your debts. You are not a bad looking wench. The young lads at the tavern would throw some cents at you if you have the stomach for it hehehe.” Said Gallagher and burst into a frenzy of Laughter before shoving the boy to floor just beside his mother.
” Durban let’s get out of here. That no good Oswaldo owes me money to. There is nothing stopping me from taking that lame bull of his, if he has failed to save up my money” Said Gallagher as he Walked majestically to his bike while Durban followed him.
” Jokes apart boss. The first time I saw that no good bull, I thought it was tall dog with horns. That animal can’t be exchanged for a bottle of good beer in the city club.” Said Durban in a Sarcastic manner.
” Hahaha! I swear, you are so on point. I have fought a grizzly bear and killed a cheetah with my hands. But you that Mosquito bull of Oswaldo? Man! _ it scares me likes shit. I can’t stand the look of that thing, I’m telling you boy I can’t.” cackled Gallagher and burst into another roar of Laughter while Durban held on his stomach and laughed so harder.
” There’s no time. Let’s get going before that lame bull, dies all together.” Aired Gallagher and kicked off his bike and zoomed off along with his subject.
Matilda felt a level of humiliation that she had never felt before. She had been compelled by fear to give all her savings to Gallagher, leaving behind nothing for her and her son. She couldn’t stomach the oppression any longer. At that moment all she could think of was salvation as all the shades of fear in her heart was sidelined by a strong will of militarism.
” She rushed into her cottage, got a hold of her late husbands double barrel gun and headed out in a clandestine fury.
