CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN
Deep down inside the forest, I am panting as drops of sweat race down my face.
There is total darkness and I can barely make out anything.
I tried to be as calm as possible, I had never been this careful, walking and praying I wouldn’t end up making a single noise.
I stopped on my track, looking backwards to see if anyone was behind me, but no, there was no rogue after me.
Turning front, I discovered I didn’t know which part to take. I was lost in this deep part of the forest. I began to panic, there was no escape for me, everyone had been taken down and I was the only person that made it out.
‘Dylan!’ his name rings bell in my mind and I am lost wandering where on Earth he must have gone to!
Earlier at the restaurant, I became angry the moment I noticed it was another man holding me instead of Dylan. I opted to leave but he held me back. I discovered that I was not the only person who was attacked.
The entire restaurant had been attacked, I flicked, pushing back the man and that was when I noticed his body was made of rock.
My mind recalled Dylan speaking about rogues but I erased that from my mind immediately.
Not until I saw the strange group of men raging havoc, I panicked the second I saw one of them tear a waiter into half.
I gasped, covering my mouth with my hands. Other people saw this, and they began running for their dear lives.
At that moment, I knew exactly what was happening. The regular werewolf wouldn’t attack such a peaceful restaurant for no reason.
These people were definitely rogues and just like Dylan said, they had extra powers which is as a result of their wild nature.
“Let go of me you scandal!” I yelled at the rogue that had pinned me against his body.
“It’s Daniel.” His husky voice causes a tingling sensation and I shiver in response.
It was as though he was trying to cast a spell on me and I quickly snapped out of it.
“Nice try… Well, I don’t care about your name. I need you to let go of me!” I screamed into his ears.
“Easy darling… you don’t want to get hurt.” He smirked.
“Causing havoc to the pack isn’t going to help out you know?” I hissed, still struggling with him.
I’m still trying to speak further when his hands meet my jaw in a flick.
He held it upwards and I could barely breathe properly.
“I see you know who I am.” He scoffed.
“Of course I do!” I slammed back.
I feel his anger increasing and by the time his temper rises, I noticed he grew bigger and stronger.
He pushed me to the wall, I fell hard on the floor and before I could avert his next attack, he picked me up like a little bag from the garage and pinned me to the wall.
He was about to speak when the door flung open and a man, dressed in a grey suit with an auburn coloured hair bursted in.
He seemed much stronger than Daniel who pinned me to the wall and I panic as all attention is on me.
“Boss…” Daniel called out.
The boss scrutinized me and diverted his attention back to Daniel.
“Why are you wasting your time on a human? Just kill her off!” He commanded coldly.
“She might be of help.” Daniel released me from the wall and my neck is hurting so badly.
“Exactly how?”
“She belongs to Dylan..”
I noticed a flash of smile on the boss’s face as he buried his hands in the depth of this pocket. His gaze diverted from Daniel to me and I rolled my eyes at him.
“Dylan…” he muttered audibly. “I think it’s time I pay my old buddy Derek a surprise visit.” A smirk is curled on his lips, I try to think but my head is market place and I can’t concentrate on anything!
“There is no way I am telling you anything. No matter what you do, I won’t say a thing!” I scoffed, smiling at my bravery.
“There won’t be any use sweetheart, your darling, Dylan is going to lead us right to him.” Daniel spoke and a hysterical laugh.
A few moments later, the rogues start leaving the restaurant and I find myself being dragged along.
“Hey! Let go!” I sneered.
“If I were you, I’d be as silent as possible.” I shivered at his words and I noticed his eyes glowing red all of a sudden.
I lost the ability to speak further and I prayed in silence that I would find a way out soon.
We have walked a long distance before the boss stopped. The smirk on his face tells me something is wrong and I decide to trace his gaze and it fell on a man coming out of his house. No human could possibly built his house in the immediately of a forest and therefore it dawned on me we had stopped in front of a pack.
Daniel signaled one of the rogues to watch me as he dashed into the pack house with the boss.
His words echoed in my ears. “One move, and you are gone!” I am afraid of escaping but the thoughts of Dylan or his pack in danger give me strength to run off.
The rogues seemed busy with their stupid discussion and that was the perfect opportunity to strike.
I shut my eyes, I knew I was definitely going to be caught and probably killed but in the meantime, I’m determined to save Dylan and his pack. I knew I couldn’t out run them so I needed to think about something else.
“I need to relieve myself.” I call the attention of one of the rogues.
“Hold it!” He barked.
“Please… I’m really pressed.” I pleaded adding a bit of drama to show I indeed needed to urinate.
He rolled his eyes angrily and led me to a private side. “Just 5 minutes.”
“Thank you.” I smiled, I pretended to squat and ease myself and he moved slightly away.
The second I saw he was far enough, I tiptoed gently towards the other end and in a matter of seconds, I dashed through the deepest part of the forest. Running as though my whole life depended on it. Of course it did! I could die if I’m caught and if they don’t, I’d be able to warn Dylan.
Now, I’m stuck in the middle of nowhere, my blood is racing and my heart is beating so fast. I tried to calm down and think about a way out but that was when I saw a shadow cross me in a swift.
My breathing level increased as I heard a crack, one that comes when someone stepped on a fragile stick and it breaks.
Slowly, the noise became thicker and closer and I gasped the moment someone covered my face.
