Chapter Ninety-Five – Sorry end.
Chen broke into boisterous laughter, he pointed the knife at her and advanced towards her menacingly.
“You want to meet your man? Didn’t we have a deal? Protect the woman I love and I’d not harm your loved one, right?”
Jenna’s eyes shook. What did he mean? Did something happen to Debby? How did he expect her to protect Debby when she was Debby’s hostage?
And between she and Debby, she needed protection against Debby than she needed to protect her.
She looked at the blood on his knife. Who did that belong to? “I-I don’t understand you.” Did something happen?
“Well, I’d flee the country, never to return here.” Chen seethed. “But for you, the police will come for you next.”
Next? Jenna realized what was going on. Debby must have been captured. “Did you go after her? Those blood marks?”
“The policemen outnumbered me.” He sighed.
It was reckless of him to go after a police van but he had been eaten up by frustration when he noticed Debby being shoved in a police van and she had the fear stricken expression on.
He only left to buy a meal for both of them and she stomped out on her own? She didn’t know a thing about sneaking about. She was no criminal.
He should have dissuaded her from her anger a long time ago or better, not have indulged her in her crazy plans.
She might have forgotten about Damien by now and would be at China with him and her friends. Now, being arrested would implicate her father’s company.
His head was expanding and he couldn’t believe he wouldn’t be seeing her ever again. The last conversation they had was he scolding her about not gaining anything from her fight.
And the last image he had of her was she being scared, and literally begging the ground to swallow her.
Chen turned to Jenna standing there in fear. He smirked. “Well, I have someone to vent on. Let’s settle our dispute.”
Jenna shook her head but Chen grabbed her arm and began dragging her to the last floor. She followed because she knew it was probably where Stark was at.
In front of a door, Chen’s grip on her tightened that it became painful. He shoved the knife into her hands and her jaw fell. What was he doing?
He pulled her towards Stark and she struggled to stay away. Stark was still unconscious. “Please, let me go!” but Chen kicked her stomach making her nearly black out.
He held her hands and rose it up then stabbed it down. Her eyes were watery from pain, when they cleared up, she saw the knife on Stark’s chest.
Hot liquid pumped from where the knife was buried in and some splashed on Jenna’s face. She froze. The red liquid sprouted slowly out of the man she loved.
Her brain circuited and she began to scream. Another kick went to her stomach again, shutting her up.
“This is what you get for messing up your side of the bargain. If I’m losing Debby, then you’d be losing this junk of a man.” Chen mumbled in her ears then dropped her on the floor.
He took the knife from her and walked off. “Mourn him all you want, or you can join him. There is poison, down there.” He referred to the first aid box on the ground.
Did he just suggest to her to kill herself? Jenna glared at him with teary eyes. “Why!” she cried. “Why did you kill him?”
“You killed him, don’t forget.” Chen scoffed then walked out of the room. The silence in the room began consuming Jenna and she began screaming hoping Stark would awake.
She knew he was gone, she could feel a hollow emptiness in her heart. So was it with her hands her sister and the man she loved died? Everything ended miserably at the end, didn’t it?
She didn’t win. She never gave Stark the chance to be a good father to any child. He died, with his children terming him a horrible father when he was an amazing man.
Siding with the enemy brought nothing but pain and regrets. Now she couldn’t face Lucy. She really wanted to die as well.
She didn’t deserve any good thing at all. She should as well disappear before Lucy got dragged into it.
Her daughter left her surname as her father’s so it wouldn’t be easy to link her. Jenna stood to her feet and looked at the first aid box. “I’d come with you, Stark.”
She opened the box and nearly took the suspicious bottle to gulp down it’s contents when she remembered Chen’s words.
“We had a deal, didn’t we? Protect the woman I love and I’d not harm your loved ones.” She dropped the bottle back.
Her eyeballs shook within her eye socket. It couldn’t be, right? Did Chen mean he’d also go after Lucy? Jenna rose to her feet. “No! He shouldn’t go after Lucy too!”
How could she lose two people she cared about at the same time? It would be too much. She didn’t mind killing herself as long as Lucy didn’t get involved.
She didn’t want Lucy dying along with her. Her daughter was a bright girl who had learned to take care of her own self. She didn’t want her dying soon. She struggled out of the room.
“Chen! Chen, please!” she yelled as she limped. He must be far gone already but she still yelled his name. “Chen, please!”
Her legs failed her and she collapsed at the staircase. She lost her balance and began a head fall down the stairs. She kept screaming as she went down. “Please, Chen! Chen! Chen!”
Everything felt black and gloom when she reached the foot of the stairs. She gave in to the darkness she felt and passed out.
Chen was seating legs crossed, downstairs.
He kept the knife under a book so when the police would raid, they’d see the knife and use it as proof to detain Jenna. Debby couldn’t go down alone, not ever.
Since he had taken one of her loved one, then he’d forgo the other. It would be too difficult to reach her either ways.
“I would have burnt this building to the ground but I want Jenna to pay for this.” He clenched his fists and threw his bag behind him, strapping it tightly.
He took one last look at the detestable woman then marched out of the building. Leaving her to her unredeemable fate.
Even after killing her own sister, she didn’t get the perfect life she had wanted. It was a sorry end for her.
