Chapter Ninety-Four – Last Card
Arya arrived at the Wades’ Mansion.
Kane dropped her then drove out again, without speaking. She knew his head would be filled already.
She slowly walked into the living room but was immediately embraced by someone. She patted Connor’s back when she realized it was him. A part of her wanted to see Damien first.
Kane had called home to inform them what happened. When Connor let go, Arya saw that Damien wasn’t home yet.
“Are you alright? And was it really Debby?” Selena asked quite agitated. It’s the first time she showed concern for her.
Arya smiled, nodding. “Yeah, it was her. Winx protected me and was stabbed at her right collar bone. The nurse said she’d be okay though. It was very sudden.”
Selena gasped, rubbing her face. “Winx. My poor girl. I can’t still believe Debby became this selfish, became this monster!”
Mrs. Wade just had a sour expression, looking down at her hands. “Arya, go and rest. This incident must be frightening.”
Connor turned to her, and noticed the blood on her dress. “Your friend is really amazing.”
“She is, but I’d prefer no one getting in trouble for me.” Arya said. “Yes, mother. I’d go get some rest.” She left the room.
Winx would be alright. She had smirked at Debby as she was taken away, showing that the girl had lost. With that resolve, Arya knew the wound wasn’t so deep.
Debby finally came out to make a last attack and it ended in failure – that was the bottom line. She had lost the challenge.
A smile creeped up Arya’s lips. The last persons were Aunt Jenna and Debby’s cousin, Chen.
They were the last pieces to solve then the nightmare would be completely over, the mastermind was already vanquished.
Damien watched as Arya walked slowly to her room. He didn’t want to meet her yet, till he had fully taken advantage of the situation.
Soon, the media would announce the young Chinese genius was arrested for attempting murder and public harassment on an undergrad girl.
With a Winx having no affiliation to the Wades, it was easier that way. It would be enough to send her to rehab.
And for the explosion, it’d be easier to blame everything on Chen. He had bought the bombs and Diablo had found pictures of him around the house.
Damien knew there was no legal connection between Debby and Chen so if he didn’t reveal the picture of them together, no one would suspect she was involved with a mafia group.
And with two counts of attempted murder, things could get really serious. “Only thing is, the media already thinks I’m involved in the explosion, and would ask questions again.”
Debby could also reveal his family name and Arya’s name, further complicating things.
And for Jenna, no matter what way things go, she would be going to jail with Chen for being an accomplice.
“Damien.” Someone called him as he stood at the hallway, lost in thoughts. He looked up and found his mother and Selena. He forced a smile but they didn’t smile back.
“Now that Debby is within grabs of the police, all you have to do is file your case. Everything.” His mother said.
His eyes enlarged. Everything? It’d complicate things due to Arya’s family members. “I don’t understand what you’re say..”
“I know you want to protect Arya but that it can’t be done. Debby might mention her and expose whatever her aunt did. The damage has already been done.” Selena commented.
But then the media would know of his marriage and Debby not supporting it. They’d also know of Arya’s family issues and Jenna killing her sister.
“It’d be too much for Arya and her sister. Wouldn’t it be better to take them out of the media’s path for a while.”
“You don’t plan to hide your marriage forever, do you?” his mother raised a brow. “Unless you reveal everything, Debby can’t fully pay for what she did.”
Paying fully? Damien sighed. He just wanted her to pay somehow, whether it was funny or not. He just wanted her out of Arya’s way.
Selena placed her hand on his shoulder. “Don’t think on it too much. There’s a chance Debby wouldn’t spill too much. She’s a proud girl and wouldn’t accept that you married Arya.”
“What do you mean?” Damien frowned. Debby was sure to expose that to get him annoyed.
Selena smirked. “You aren’t Debby’s enemy. She might just say she wanted Arya dead and leave it at that.”
Her mother nodded. “The girl she had stabbed, Winx, and Arya being friends would make the media assume Debby’s anger towards them was due to something else.”
Damien tilted his head. Could they use that? “And if Arya is revealed to be my wife later on?”
Selena shrugged. “It’d cause rumors but they wouldn’t get anything. Not from Debby nor the Wades.”
Was that to work? The fact that it depended on if Debby would talk about Arya or not. He didn’t like leaving things in her hands. She betrayed his trust once.
“That means I’d be revealing Debby’s connection with Chen. This will be surely make big news.” Damien sighed, running his hands through his hair. “But it will eventually die out too.”
Selena and her mother nodded at him, with smiles on their faces. “It will eventually die out and Arya will be safe.”
Since that was the end goal, he’d risk anything to get there. Debby would be kept in rehab. Chen would be arrested or he’d flee the country and never return.
Jenna would be arrested for being an accomplice. The murder of her sister had no proof so he couldn’t do anything. Also, he wasn’t directly related to the victim.
“Very well then. I’d be on my way out.” Damien left to play his last cards in the horrible game Debby started.
(At an Abandoned Building)
Jenna woke up to strange sounds coming from downstairs. It sounded like someone shouting for another person.
Where was she? She opened her eyes and realized she was still in the hellhole. Debby had stopped visiting her since she asked her to give up on Damien.
Was it so hard for the girl?
Even she had given up on Stark at some point in her life and married another man, except that what would be, would be, and she found herself in Stark’s arms again.
Her expression changed and she tried the door to see if it was locked. She hadn’t set her eyes on Stark for a while and it was beginning to worry her. Chen was still giving him those drugs.
Surprisingly, it was opened. She ran downstairs in full speed hoping to look for Stark and get out of the place.
Her legs froze when she saw Chen downstairs. Was he the one yelling like that? Why was everywhere ransacked?
His knife was bloody and he was glaring at the ground. His eyes shifted to her and darkened. “You bastard!”
Jenna went backwards. What had she done? Where was Debby? Couldn’t they let her go already? “Please, just let me see my man. I’d go back inside. Let me just see him.”
Chen broke into boisterous laughter, he pointed the knife at her. “You want to meet your man? We had a deal, didn’t we? Protect the woman I love and I’d not harm your loved one.”
Jenna’s eyes shook. What did he mean? Did something happen to Debby? She looked at the blood on his knife? Who did that belong to. “I-I don’t understand you.”
