Spies

Chapter Eighty-Five – Spies.
It was confirmed. Something glowed up in her. Whether it was her body, probably not, or her charm. But she didn’t feel very timid when talking to people anymore.
Her father’s shadow around her had finally been casted. Strangely, even if Debby was on her neck, she didn’t feel threatened or intimidated.
All she knew was that as long as Debby didn’t meet her physical, there would be no issue.
As per their ‘battle of wits’, it meant Debby had to outsmart her in some way. Debby wouldn’t need to launch a great deal of attack to do that, so Arya only had to be careful.
With her mind at rest to an extent, Arya felt like a free bird with the sky as her limit. It could be the energy that attracted the looks to her.
“Or maybe it’s cause you’re wearing really expensive clothes.” Winx smirked, making Arya’s smile fall.
Either ways, she generally didn’t want the attention. Someone sent by Debby could use it to get close to her.
And the person she wanted to notice wasn’t noticing. She didn’t blame Seth, the project with Damien was taking his time greatly.
Winx even informed her that he had been skipping classes.
Meanwhile for Damien, one of his subsidiaries handled the project. Arya sighed. Damien had more free time and Seth had none. Fate was unknowingly supportive of Damien.
There were sounds of cheers and coos at the end of the hall. Winx and Arya turned to the direction of the sound.
Some boys ran past them towards the end of the hall. Winx and Arya glanced at themselves before running along.
Was a celebrity in their school? Or a fight was happening? But they were hearing cheers so it would something good, right?
Arya jumped at the scene looking around, her eyes landed on a very curvy lady, who was smiling, being surrounded by a circle of boys.
She didn’t recognize her but she looked really pretty with a nice body as well. “Oh, that popular tiktoker.” Winx sighed.
Arya turned to her. “You know her?”
“I can’t remember her name but her contents kind of cringe me.” Winx said, with a shrug. “She once said something about Kdrama and Kpop being cringe. I hated her then.”
Arya smiled. It was so like Winx to hate someone for slandering Kdrama and Kpop. Her eyes went back to the girl. “She’s pretty, I wonder what she’s doing here though.”
“Maybe she’s shooting a video, ‘reacting to my fans’. Duh.” Winx rolled her eyes and attempted walking inside.
Someone crawled out of the circle of boys and held unto Arya. She and Winx paused.
“Arya! Please, Wait!” It was Lucy.
Arya frowned on seeing her. What was she doing in her school? Last she heard of her, she had refused to cooperate with them in getting intel from Debby.
Debby had asked her to be a spy for her, but she refused so Damien assumed she wanted to help them but she said she didn’t want to be involved with them either.
What did she want now? “Yes?” Arya folded her arms.
Winx stared at the girl questioningly. “Do you know her or something?” she whispered to Arya.
The tiktoker began moving towards them and Arya and Winx took a step back. What was happening?
“Hey, Lucy. Is this your cousin, Arya? Nice to meet you.” The girl said in the cutest voice. It sounded fake.
Winx’s shoulders slumped. Cousin? Then this must be Arya’s wicked Aunt’s daughter. Was she in good relationship with her? “What’s this about, girl?” she asked Arya again.
The boys were circling around the tiktoker again and also drawing attention to Arya and Winx.
“I wanted to talk to you about something important. My friend, Chandelle, wanted to tag along. I’m sorry for the chaos.” Lucy sighed. “I didn’t know she’s this popular too.”
“Oh, don’t be like that. The guys are just friends.” Chandelle giggled. A guy had yelled at her to be his girlfriend and she began blushing, making the guys coo at her.
Winx wanted to disappear. The girl must have used Lucy to get entrance into the university.
“Why don’t we get to somewhere quiet? Winx isn’t fond of crowds and neither am I. We’d leave you, Chandelle, to your friends. Nice to meet you.” Arya smiled.
Chandelle winked at her, “Sure. I’d catch you guys later.”
Arya pulled her cousin, along with her best friend. Winx’s eyes remained on Chandelle, she was sure she’d turn the hallway to a meet and greet event.
They came into one of the classes and Arya sat them down. “What you are about to say, will it put her in danger?” she asked Lucy, concerning Winx.
Winx stared at Lucy, puzzled.
Lucy shut her eyes then opened them. “Well, I don’t know her or trust her but I’d speak as coded as I can.”
Winx got up. “I’d just leave you two to it. I’m not really interested in a family secret.” She walked out.
Arya smiled and gestured to Lucy. “Go on, then. What did you want to say? Will you work with Damien to get…”
“No, I’ve said that already.” Lucy sighed. “The problem is that Debby knows I snitched on her. It doesn’t bother me that she does, she’d have known from me not replying her but she…”
Arya felt like something conflicting was about to happen.
“My job. She threatened me with my job.” Lucy revealed. “It seems like she knew I informed Damien of her letter. She may have a spy at my workplace and at Wade’s company too.”
Arya leapt from her seat. Debby had a spy at Lucy’s work place? Could it be a high placed person that could threaten Lucy’s employment?
And a spy at the Wade’s company? Well, she used to work there so it was no surprise she still had someone. Still, it’s very dangerous that she had the upper hand in these places.
“I already have someone I suspect at my workplace. My manager, she was the one who handed me Debby’s letter.” Lucy added.
“And the spy at the Wade’s company?” Arya asked.
Lucy cocked her head. “I don’t know but for the person to see me there when went there, then the person’s desk was down stairs. Start from there. Maybe a receptionist or worker.”
Receptionist? Arya’s mind went back to all the receptionist she met there. None of them seemed hostile to her. They looked like nice ladies.
“Even still, thank you for this. I’d tell Damien about it, I doubt your CEO will let you off without good reason. Damien will make sure of it.” Arya assurer firmly.
Lucy exhaled, rising from the chair. “I’d like that. I really don’t want to get involved in something this dangerous.”
“Neither do I, Lucy. I don’t want this either.” Arya sighed.
