Chapter Eighty – Diablo.
Damien knocked on the small door of the bar. A huge man opened up and he strolled in, not sparing the man a word.
The place was teeming with young men and women. It looked like a club house, as well as a drug baron’s base.
It irked him to be around such place but that was the only place he knew to get the help he needed.
He arrived at a door, after walking down the hall for seconds. It was rough like someone usually scraped it with spoons. Damien ignored it and knocked on the door twice.
“Come in, boss.” A deep voice replied.
Damien walked in, adjusting his mask. “Thank you, Diablo.”
The Diablo smiled, flicking his pen. “Whenever I see you wear a mask when walking in here, it makes me want to laugh.”
Damien rolled his eyes, taking the mask off. “It’s because you run this place like it’s some illegal place when it’s not. I can’t risk my identity being exposed.”
A young girl ran into the room and Damien hurriedly covered his face. “Oh, it’s my daughter.” Diablo said with a smile.
The little girl went to her father, hiding from Damien.
He paid her no attention to her and helped himself to a seat. “Did you find the name of the trader that sold the bomb. That’s the last piece of information I need to file a case.”
Damien took out a file from the suit case he came with.
“A case against this Debby?” Diablo raised a brow. “You’ve gone quite soft. Why not send some good men to beat her up? It won’t cost you a dime if you want me to help.”
His hands were covering his daughter’s ears as she played with his cloth. “Your company has helped my business all these years and we were classmates. It’s the least I can do…”
“Except I want to play it clean, not soft!” Damien raised his voice. “Her dad owns some shares in my company! It has been hard to reach him, still, I can’t just beat her up illegally!”
The story might end up with the media eventually. It could be Debby’s last attack – exposing the fact that she had been the enemy of the Wades group and everything that happened.
Damien’s worst fear would be realized and if media also learned that the Wade group tried violating Debby, they’d ignore the fact she’s the villain and make her a victim.
The media always leveraged from the Wades, whether positively or negatively. Damien didn’t want to give them more things to leverage on.
Diablo shrugged, letting his daughter run back inside. “I know it’s hard to handle those kinds of people legally that’s why I suggested that. Don’t be offended.”
Damien exhaled, calling down. “I’m sorry and you’ve a point. However, look at it from my point of view. I want this as clean as possible. So, any leads from your agent about the bomb?”
Diablo smiled, like he had been waiting for that question, he rubbed his palms before searching in his drawer.
“He found the name of the company and a copy of the receipt. The company tends to keep one for themselves. He had an insider in there so it was relatively easy to get.”
Diablo shifted the receipt to Damien. He took a glimpse at it. It was very expensive and was registered under Chen’s name.
However, It wasn’t a direct link to Debby because she could easily deny Chen and he’d accept that he didn’t know her.
Chen knew he was a weak link since Damien’s security cams must have caught him when he visited the other time.
“Thank you anyway, this will be useful.” Damien told Diablo, taking the receipt and keeping it in a file.
“Hmm, the way you said it, that wasn’t very useful, was it? It wasn’t even this Debby that purchased it.” Diablo snickered. “So, I got you another present.”
Damien cocked his head. A present? Somebody’s head? A person’s hand? Those were the kind of things Diablo pulled.
The man revealed a picture of Debby and Chen, walking into an abandoned building. “The building is under a Chinese man’s name. Possibly the boy’s father, right?”
Damien smirked, taking the picture. “No, his father would never use his name. Probably some other member’s.”
The picture would proof as proof of connection between Debby and Chen in relation to who bought the bomb.
Still, it didn’t feel like enough to get Debby sent to a rehab. Her father was influential and she was well known, as well.
Damien wasn’t very sure how her father would react to his daughter’s gimmicks, he’d surely not be in support but he’d also not want her getting punished for it.
Damien also knew that Debby wouldn’t stop either. Letting her off with a slap on the wrist would be too light.
And he couldn’t take the chance, not when Arya’s physical and mental health were on the line, including Connor’s.
Debby had to pay like an adult for playing like an adult.
“Very well then, I’d transfer some funds to you so I wouldn’t be in your debt. But keep looking for anything valuable for me. Take lots of pictures too.” Damien said, getting up.
Diablo grinned broadly. “Ahh, you don’t have to pay me, I said I’m grateful for your company’s help, right? But who am I to reject your kindness…”
“If you don’t want it, I won’t pay it in.” Damien gave him a side glance. Diablo stayed quiet, scratching his head.
Why wouldn’t he want the money? Having more money would never hurt anyone. “Don’t worry, pay it in. I’m raising a daughter you know.”
Damien said. “Okay, and before I forget, I need you to look for someone for me. She goes by the name Jenna Marbles. She is involved in this case.” He dropped a picture of Jenna.
Diablo wrote down the name then stared at it for a while. Jenna Marbles sounded familiar to him in some way. He didn’t know if it was the Marbles or the Jenna.
He raised a brow. “I feel like I already know this person. Any other information you can leave?”
Damien looked up. “Actually, I know who the lady is. I’m only looking for her current location. But, I’d like to know how you know her. A past lover? One night stand?”
Damien had already been filled in with how Aunt Jenna began dating Arya’s father after her sister died.
If so, Aunt Jenna must have been a naughty girl to jump on her sister’s husband like that.
“Well, I don’t think that’s how I know her. Maybe she frequents my bar or something, that’s all.” Diablo said, quite flushed.
Damien exhaled. “Alright then. And thank you.”
