Chapter Thirteen – Drama.
Epic. Just epic. Arya sat at the living room of the Wade’s mansion as even if it was as epic as the word, the argument happening on the first day of her marriage was more epic.
She couldn’t calm her sister down, she could never. And Selena kinda needed someone to keep her in check. She wasn’t even apologetic when she and her mother walked home.
And when they arrived at the mansion, they saw the car had a dent. She couldn’t drive. Her mother hoped it wasn’t a human she hit or that person was as good as dead.
“What’s going on?” someone walked into the house and asked.
Arya jumped to her feet but chilled when she saw it was the cousin that had stood in for Damien at the court wedding. He had left them there, hurrying for a important appointment.
“Selena drove the car home alone. Since you took the other, mother and I, with the butler had to walk home.” She explained with a flat tone.
He blinked twice then placed his hands on his waist. “Why did she do that?”
“I do not know.” Arya shrugged.
The young man went into the room where the argument was happening and Arya sat back on the couch peacefully.
Anna rushed out, still panting and raking. “I do not give a damn about what you think about me Selena but you are a bitch! Fact you need to suck up!”
Arya sighed, stepping closer to Anna who snapped her head and turned, cleaning sweat off her forehead.
“Tell me Hun, do you wanna stay here or we should head home then Damien come pick you himself?” she asked.
Her younger sister shook her head then nodded. “Yes, I will return with you.” She thought on it and decided it’d be easier to face Damien when he comes to pick her than when she’s at his house.
“No, please!” Mrs. Wade walked into them. “Don’t leave. C’mon, Anna. It’s not that big a deal, I walked too, didn’t I?”
Arya’s heart sank seeing the lady beg but Anna wasn’t having it. “Ma’am, I really want to respect your decision in this but Selena could kill my sis this time. Till Damien comes home.”
“Anna…”
“What? Don’t even say you wanna stay back!” Anna shot back at Arya when she tried to speak.
Arya shoved her hand off hers. “I’d stay!” she stood her ground. Selena can do her worst, don’t worry!” she said the last part with a lower tone.
Anna’s eyes were blood shot. She stared at the cousin who just walked out and back at Arya. “Fine. When Damien comes back, someone should call me!” she stomped off.
“Anna has always been firee! Ha-ha, don’t worry she’d cool off.” The cousin assured Arya.
“Is that the point?” Mrs. Wade sighed. “Selena is being bad to her brother’s wife. If Anna is this mad, how do you think Damien will be?”
The cousin shrugged as Mrs. Wade brushed past him towards Selena’s home.
“Iconic first day in the Wade Mansion.” The cousin further said.
Arya smiled. “Yeah, I really wasn’t expecting all these.” Why in the world would Selena just hate her? Was she jealous that she’d take her brother’s attention? She shouldn’t worry, it was all arranged.
The cousin sat down besides Arya, making her snap from her thoughts. She tried to engage him to keep herself from overthinking. “So what’s your name?”
“I’m called Junior around the house but my name is Connor. I turned eighteen two weeks back and became eligible to marry a girl in court.” He smirked.
Arya slapped his arm. “You just stood in for your cousin.”
“Yeahh, but I still married you. I’d use that to tease him till he dies.” Junior bragged on.
She shook her head. He still acted really childish despite being eighteen. She told her age as well. “I’d be twenty soon.”
“Whoa, how soon? Birthdays are big deals around here. Especially for the females.” he whispered the last part.
Arya nodded but then shrugged. “My birthdays used to be fun but these days, it just passes by.”
“Cos you’re an adult right?” Junior sighed. “That’s why I didn’t want to get to eighteen just yet. Who knows if they’d throw me out of the house now?” he chuckled nervously.
Arya frowned. Throw him out? He was their family member, wasn’t he? Or was he among the numerous workers she had seen around here? “Why would they? You are related to them right?”
“Yeah, Mrs. Wade is my aunt. When I was eight, my mom died and my Dad in coma for three years now. So I’m very much alone if not for them.” Junior exhaled.
Arya stared at the young man blankly. The way he easily opened up to her surprised her, she could never speak of her problems with someone she just met.
Perhaps he trusted her as she was his sister-in-law? She patted him. “You have people. The only person I had was Anna. My dad disowned me and mom is dead too. So….”
“You have us now. The Wades!” Junior hopped from the chair. “Also with the way Anna left, I bet you wouldn’t be able to call and chitchat with her for a while. So I’d serve.”
She nodded. “Yeah, you will.”
The evening came by quickly and Arya was settled in her room. Which she later figured was Damien’s room. She remembered the smug grin the maid had while sending her there.
She must’ve thought they were consummating. Arya rolled her eyes, laying flat on the bed. She saw the light bulbs of expensive design, she rose up. The room had a rather calm and simple atmosphere.
Her phone beeped and she saw it was a text from Winx. “Girl, so the day of the summit has been decided and an additional speaker was added. A Chinese genius. Half my age, lol.”
Arya smiled at the text and went online to check the poster. There was a cute Chinese girl in a ponytail but she looked like she’d be few years younger than Junior’s age. Fifteen or Sixteen.
“She’s cute and surely smarter than you to be in the poster!” Arya texted back. Winx replied with an angry emoji making Arya respond with a love emoji.
“If the date of the summit was decided, that means Damien is well on his way back.” Arya thought, breathing out.
“You know Asians have some kind of crazy brain wave, she must be really smart.” Winx texted. “But not smarter than me. I have life experiences she never had.”
Arya shook her head, reading her best friend’s text.
“Also, it was your husband that invited her as speaker. I guess she’d be lodging in your home so ask her some questions for me, you’d see she’d be quite dumb.” Winx kept on rage texting.
“Chill down. You are smarter than her.” Arya replied, with love emoji. She smiled as she mentally imagined Winx huffing. Then she went offline.
She wondered why they’d be an additional teenage speaker for a university students summit and why she’d be lodging at their house.
“I really don’t want more drama in this house.” she laid on her back and soon she slept off.
