Claude
I rested in the military camp for a few days before I disembarked to return to the palace, still having an injury. I have summoned all the best palace doctors and even from the pack doctors from the other packs to heal me. But to no avail, no one could concoct an antidote that could heal me.
While I was staying there, I realized something.
This was the fault of Commander Cornelius. If only he reported to me, this wouldn’t have happened and Rachelle would be kidnapped. If only he should have reported first, Rachelle would have stayed in the palace until she had given it to our first pup.
Damn it…
“Your Majesty, how is it?”
I took the newly concocted antidote and drank it before I waited for a moment. I looked at the palace doctors that were surrounding me. Then I shook my head.
“I can’t feel that I am healing…” I was indicating the half of my face that was burned from the added chemical aside from wolfsbane. Frustrated, I just hissed when they looked dejected at my response. “I wish to retire now,” I said, dismissing them to leave the Alpha King’s chamber.
I laid down on my bed, contemplating that Lothim managed to create a fatal chemical that could hardly find an antidote. For now, the palace doctors had been doing their best to heal. But each second I would stay here in the palace was itching me to go out and look for Rachelle.
I must find her already.
I knew that she wasn’t dead yet. If ever she was dead, my wolf and I would feel the breaking of the mate bond. So, I knew that Rachelle was alive and well. I would definitely wreak havoc if I found out that Rachelle was not in this world anymore.
I saw how my father suffered when Mother died. He was left depressed and left his Alpha King duties. I was forced to take his duties on behalf of him because if I didn’t do that, there would be a revolt that was bound to happen. After all, Father was neglecting his duties.
It was truly heartbreaking that Father was left in despair. I tried to understand him because losing a mate wasn’t a joke. It said that it would lose half of your life and it would feel like you were being buried six feet below the ground already even though you were still alive.
Just by thinking that Rachelle would die, I could feel my heart already breaking. I silently prayed to the Moon Goddess that if she could assure me that Rachelle was safe and wasn’t going to die, I was willing to remove the sanction I put on her.
“I am not going to suffer for our family anymore…” Because I wanted Rachelle and me to be the ones helping in teaching our son everything. I didn’t want to go through with losing my mate. I still wanted to build a family with Rachelle regardless of what she did.
She was the only woman I wanted to be with.
“Your Majesty, Alpha King Claudian. This is Felix. May I come in?”
I immediately wiped the tears that were about to fall from my eyes. Sighing, I nodded. “Come on in.” I pinched the bridge of my nose when I felt the wound on the half of my face was throbbing in pain. This would hardly make me fall asleep again.
“Your Majesty, Philippians is here.”
I creased my forehead. “Philippians?” I asked, confused as to why he was here.
Philippians stepped forward and bowed before me. “Greetings the sun of the Waevalon Kingdom, Your Majesty, Alpha King Claudian.”
“Why are you here?” I groaned softly when my wound throbbed again. “Didn’t I station you to Ursupol?” I stood up and gestured with my hand that he could stand up.
Philippians looked at me intently before he lowered his head. “I have something to report, Your Majesty. It is important.”
I felt my heart start hammering so hard in my chest with what he said. “Is this about your Luna Queen?” Have they managed to find her?
Sighing, Philippians looked at me. “It is the whereabouts of Prince Claudian.”
As soon as he said that and upon hearing the name of my son, I immediately grabbed him by his collar while Felix hastily halted me. “Where is he?! Where is my Cloudy?!”
“Your Majesty, please calm down! Allow Philippians to explain. Please!”
I glared at Felix before I turned at Philippians whose face was already red from suffocation. I inhaled and exhaled before I decided to release him. I hastily went to my seat and felt Felix’s support when my face throbbed in pain.
“Philippians, speak now. I have no time for your fucking silence,” I ordered angrily. I was getting impatient as well.
Philippians jumped to his standpoint before he nodded. “Prince Claudian is safe. Commander Cornelius brought it to the Meadow Forest that is near Ursupol, Your Majesty.”
Upon hearing Cornelius’ name, my blood boiled. But I ignored it for a moment as soon as I heard that Cloudy was safe.
“Commander Cornelius brought Prince Claudian to someone whose name is Isabel le Conte who is living in the Meadow Forest. His Highness got sick the moment he arrived there. Good thing that Lady Isabel helped the little prince, Your Majesty.”
My heart dropped upon hearing that. “I-Is Cloudy alright? Is my son alright? Tell me… Rachelle would kill me if our son is not alright…” I started pacing back and forth.
Rachelle cherished our son so much. I had seen how we both cherished our son. But Rachelle created a deep bond with him since she was the one who gave birth. Even if I said that she was in a sanction, she was ready to break it if she knew that something happened to our son.
I knew that I had gone mad at her when she almost dropped our son because of her carelessness but I knew that Rachelle didn’t mean that. She was frustrated just as I was begging for my forgiveness and explaining her side.
Rachelle, I do not wish for us to fight anymore. My love… Come back to me…
“He is alright. I have helped them to purchase some necessities needed by the prince, Your Majesty. I have done it discreetly since we assumed that the birth of the first prince hasn’t made an announcement yet.”
“Right…” I sighed, realizing that only the higher-ranking officials from military and knight squads were only aware that Rachelle gave birth to our heir of the Waevalon Kingdom. “I need to see Cloudy. I want to be at ease that Rachelle and I’s son is alright. I shall reward that woman who treated my son…” I turned to Felix. “Postpone my schedules with the royal court and military court. I need to take care of my son first. I am certain that they would understand me.”
Just before Felix could answer, Philippians butt in.
“Your Majesty, Lady Isabel can cure you with a much more effective antidote than the ones you were taking.”
I creased my eyebrows. “What do you mean?” Did he say much effective antidote? “Are you certain about that?”
Philippians nodded. He explained that the woman named Lady Isabel was currently residing at the Meadow Forest as a rogue. I was curious at first and suspected her to be part of Magnius Lothim but she showed that she has no ill intention of harming my son. She helped Commander Cornelius to heal his wounds back in the days he was injured from attempting to go to the hideout.
What surprised me upon learning about her concoction of antidote is that if a werewolf had a severe injury and took her antidote, instead of healing and recovering for five days, it would make you recover for three days.
“What can you say, Your Majesty?” he asked after he finished telling me what he wanted to say.
I glanced at Felix. “So far, as far as we know, recuperating from severe injury took five days. But we haven’t heard anything about recuperating for three days. Right?” I asked Felix for confirmation.
Felix nodded. “Indeed, Your Majesty.” He glanced at Philippians. “If what Philippians is saying is true, then that woman named Isabel must be brought here for she concocted a very effective and high potency antidote.”
“I agree.” I stood up and dismissed them. “I shall go see her and my son. I need to ensure that my son is safe. Felix, you know what to do.”
Felix bowed his head. “Yes, Your Majesty. As you command.”
“I shall take my leave, Your Majesty.”
“You are going to come with me, Philippians. Until then, wait for my next instruction. You may retire now and take a rest,” I said as he nodded and left with Felix.
With that, I went to the Luna Queen’s garden where I happened to see the stargazer lily which was Rachelle’s favorite flower. I happened to pick one flower and smell it.
“Smells like Cloudy…” This flower had a heady and pleasant smell. It had a good aroma which made my heart leap because it suddenly reminded me about our son. I suddenly missed Rachelle. “I will save you, my love…” I whispered in the air before my eyes settled at the Peruvian lily. I was surprised when Father was there, silently admiring it while having some tea.
I felt my heart ache because I used to see Father and Mother enjoying their tea time here. They used to spend their moments here and talked about everything. Father used to laugh a lot but when Mother died… I couldn’t see them anymore. Not until he had come to the point that he kept pushing me that I must meet Rachelle.
I didn’t expect that he already knew beforehand that Rachelle was my mate because the Moon Goddess was associating with him. It was why he became understanding that he didn’t get mad and in fact, he was blaming me for the breaking bond between Rachelle and me.
“Claude.”
I snapped back when Father was looking my way. He gestured with his hand that I could come despite that he knew that I was injured.
“The palace is in a chaotic situation these days,” Father said when I approached him.
“My Luna Queen was kidnapped by Lothim, Father… Rachelle acted on her own accord” I knew that he knew already about this but my heart was getting heavy if I didn’t tell this to anyone. I have missed Rachelle so much…
He put his teacup in the saucer. “It is about time where everything is aligned,” he said out of nowhere.
“What do you mean, Father?” I creased my forehead.
He heaved out a sigh before he smiled faintly at me. “The agreement of your mother and the Moon Goddess.”
