Chapter 88

Kathryn stared at her, shocked. This had to be a joke; Ella had to be doing this on purpose. Kiss her? That was the most ridiculous way to get someone to prove to you that he loved you.
She tried to speak, but then she just held on to her dress, stopping herself as she stared at Daniel. She didn’t want this to happen; there was no way she could watch the man she loved kiss someone else, especially when it was because he had been so close to her.
“What are you doing?” She asked Ella, who acted like she wasn’t in front of them.
“Stay away from this, Kathryn. You’ve come here to snatch my love, haven’t you?” She asked Kathryn who stared at Daniel, and in his eyes, she could see that he didn’t want to do this.
She could see in his eyes that this wasn’t something that he wanted to do, but because he had been so close to her, he had to prove that he loved someone else.
For starters, she didn’t even know where Ella came from, and now the man she loved had to prove to someone else that he loved her. This had to be the most disheartening thing to ever witness.
Ella turned to Daniel as she walked away from him slightly, moving closer to Kathryn as she stared at her.
“Are you going to do it or not, Daniel?” She asked him, and he ran his fingers through his hair as he stared at Kathryn, who seemed to have pain in her eyes.
He had thought she was just a gold digger, a woman who just wanted to be with him for his money, but seeing her and looking into her eyes, he saw something else.
Had she just been a gold digger like he thought she was, or had she just been someone who wanted to have fun with him, she would never have had this much sadness in her eyes.
He clenched his fists, but what about Ella? She had told him that she was his love, and besides, she proved it when, after he regained consciousness, she was the first person he saw.
If Kathryn was telling the truth to him like she claimed she was, would she ever leave his side? These thoughts were running through his head, and soon it started to ache as he could no longer recall many things. He held on to his head as he arched in pain. Blurry visions with a woman started to come to mind, and Kathryn rushed to him as she placed her hand on his head.
“Daniel? Are you alright? What’s wrong with you?” She asked him as she led him to the chair, where she helped him lay as she rushed to call the doctor.
On the other hand, Ella rushed to him. “I knew you wouldn’t kiss me; so much for having a mistress, Daniel.” She scoffed as she stood outside, but at that moment, nothing she said made sense to him.
All that was on his mind was who the woman whose face he couldn’t see clearly was. He gasped in pain as he held on to his head, and when Ella noticed this, she rushed to her room. Could it be that he was starting to remember Kathryn? She would never let this happen, not at all.
She stared at the injection. So what if he was starting to develop feelings for Kathryn again? She would never let them be together, and that was a promise she made herself.
She rushed down with the injection. “Daniel, don’t worry; I’ll inject you now, and trust me, you’re going to feel a lot better.” She told him, and just as she was about to place the syringe on his skin, someone held her hand, and on raising her head, it was Kathryn.
“I’m not a fool, Ella. Don’t even think of injecting him with more of those things. Got it!” She asked as she pushed her away, causing the bottle to fall right out of Ella’s hand and then shatter on the floor.
Ella gasped as she stared at this: “What the hell! Do you know how much these things cost? How dare you?” She screamed as she stared at it, bending to see if she could pick up the pieces, but it was useless; she couldn’t.
She stared at Kathryn; this woman had definitely made a big mistake by ruining this. She grabbed a piece of the glass, and just as she wanted to slice Kathryn with it, the doctor walked in, and Kathryn rushed to him.
“Doctor, here he is. Please check up on him.” She told the doctor, who started to examine Daniel, and she held on to her skirt as fear surged through her.
She knew this had to be Ella’s doing; that woman definitely didn’t have any shame, because if she did, she would never be forcing herself on a man who didn’t love her.
She took a deep inhale as she stood by his side while the doctor performed all sorts of tests on him, and after some time, Daniel fell asleep.
“He’s better now; just give him a few minutes, and he’ll wake up. Please don’t stress him; it won’t be good for him, so I’m begging you-if you care about him in the least, don’t. His brain is still very fragile.” The doctor told them, and Kathryn offered to walk him out of the house.
While they walked away, Ella stared at Daniel as she looked back at the injection. This wasn’t it; she would never let him remember Kathryn, not even if her life was at stake for it.
Daniel slowly opened his eyes, and again, it was Ella he found by his side. He got up, and just as he was about to leave, she spoke.
“You’ve still not proven to me that you love me, Daniel.” She told him, and he stared at her, shocked.
“You still want me to prove that to you? Ella, I…”
“You’ll have to, or else it’s over between us.” She told him, and just then, Kathryn walked in.
“Daniel, no. You…”
“You have no right to interfere; you’re just a maid, so please stand back.” He told her, and she stared at him, shocked.
Slowly, he pulled Ella closer to himself by the waist, and her eyes widened in shock. Tears started to stream down her cheeks as he leaned in to kiss her. His nose was already touching hers, and just as their lips were about to meet, he received a call and excused himself.
He rushed out immediately, and Ella kicked in anger.
Kathryn smiled as she stared at her phone. She would never let him kiss anyone but her.
