She shook her head as she stared at him. What was wrong with her? Was she suddenly going crazy? How was she seeing these things, and why did it feel like…
“And why do you even have a knife with you in bed? Are you planning to kill someone?” He asked her, and she stared at him, shocked, and just as she looked down, she found a knife in the bed, and she shivered in fear.
“I.. I.” Before she could even speak, he cupped her face slightly as he stared into her eyes.
“Kathryn, don’t worry. It’s just a nightmare. I’m here for you, luckily. Come on, go to bed, and get some rest. You’ve gone through a lot today already.” He told her, and she swallowed as she watched him lay back and go to bed.
All her life, this was the hardest thing she had ever done. How could she get some rest? Even for the rest of her life, she wasn’t sure she would be able to get any rest because of the sin she was about to commit.
It wasn’t her first murder, and it wasn’t going to be her tenth, but for the first time, it was the one she knew was wrong. All the other people she had killed were jerks; they didn’t value the lives of children or even women, and as such, she had to end them. For the sake of those women and kids at least, but Daniel, in all the time she had been with him, never raised his hand to her.
He was just using that mafia title as a coverup; he was a softie; he wasn’t a jerk like people made him seem, and the moment he killed Louis because of what he had done to her, she knew that this man could never do anything bad, not without a reason at least.
She picked up the knife in tears as she stared at him. All this, what she was doing and what she had been doing her whole life, was just to save that child. She never wanted to do any of this, but for Kathryn, she was willing to do anything.
She wanted to do anything there was to do, and that was because she wanted to save the child.
She shook her head. She wanted to save the child, but what was the guarantee that they would return the child to her if she killed her best friend?
The only person who seemed to know when she was in pain as well as take care of her? What were the chances that, unlike the other times, the child wouldn’t be taken away from her again? She wiped her tears. No, she couldn’t do it.
He had been the best person she had met her whole life, and she didn’t see herself ending the life of the man who had saved her dignity so many times. She wiped her tears as she stared at him. She wouldn’t kill him; she could never bring herself to do that.
She sighed as she stared at him, and just then, she remembered Martha. That woman had thought she was a good person, but Martha seemed worse than the devil himself. She was such a sly soul, and she didn’t know what to do about her.
She got off the bed immediately as she rushed to the door of the room, locking it as she walked back to the bed. She had to stay in the room alone with Daniel for the rest of the night; that was the only way to save herself and Kathryn after all.
She slowly walked back to the bed as she stared at his face, and staring at his face, she couldn’t help but let more tears stream down her cheeks, and she wiped her tears. She had been running away from this all this time, but now that she was actually willing to put Kathryn’s and her life on the line just to save him, she knew she loved him.
She smiled as she wiped her tears. “I love you, Daniel. I really do.” She spoke as she patted his hair slowly. “Tomorrow, when you wake up, we’re going to talk about everything.” She smiled as she spoke to him slowly.
She stared at him; killing him was never going to be an option for her, but telling him it had to be the best option for her. She wiped her tears slowly. She would tell him everything. When he woke up, she would tell him the truth about her identity, the agency, and every other thing she felt he needed to know.
She took a deep inhale as she took his hands in hers. “Daniel, I love you very much, and tomorrow we’re going to start our lives afresh.” She spoke to him in a whisper as she smiled.
It was going to be the longest night of her entire life, but it was worth it because now she wouldn’t be scared or guilt-ridden that she was keeping things from him. She smiled as she planted a kiss on his forehead. “Goodnight, Daniel.” She spoke as she lay, turning to the other side as she stared at the wall after turning the alarm off.
“I’m going to save you, Kathryn. Don’t worry, but for now, I have to save Daniel.” She said this as she closed her eyes, drifting to sleep.
She smiled as she slept, and she slept very soundly, knowing that she would be able to tell Daniel the whole truth now.
She slowly opened her eyes as she stared at the clock; it was already past ten. She placed her hand back, and there she felt Daniel beside her. She smiled to herself.
“Daniel, I’ve got to tell you something. It is really important, and even though I don’t know what you will think of me when I tell you, I’m willing to take the risk. I can’t keep this from you anymore; I’m sorry.” She told him as she took a deep inhale, waiting for him to ask what it was.
She stayed there for a few seconds, but he didn’t say a word to her, and she called him. “Daniel!” But she still didn’t get any response, and she parted her lips slightly.
She didn’t want to stare at him; she couldn’t bring herself to look him in the eye, so she just placed her hand on him, and just as she took her hand back, she could feel something sticky on it.
She turned immediately, and on turning, she saw the whole bed soaked in blood. “Daniel?”
The moment she turned him to herself, she saw that he had been stabbed in the chest. “Daniel!” She screamed as she stared at his unconscious self.
