“Kathryn!” He called as he looked around the house. Where could she have gone? She was not doing well; she had pneumonia, and it was still very cold around the country, so what could have been so urgent that she had to leave the house?
He took his phone out as he tried to call her, but then it rang in the house, and at that moment, he realized that she hadn’t taken her phone with her.
He ran his fingers through his hair as he continued to look around the mansion. Where could she have gone? Didn’t she know it was very dangerous for her to move around like that in the condition she was in?
He sighed. Was she just naturally stubborn, or did she actually enjoy getting so sick?
He sighed and rushed to the gateman. “Tell me, did Kathryn leave the house?” He asked the security guard, who nodded.
“Yes, sir, she did. She said you asked her to go get something, and as such, she left. She said she’d be back soon, though.” He told him, and Daniel stared at him, unable to understand anything.
Had it gotten to this? Had it become this bad that she would use his name to lie just so she could get out of the house? He sighed as he nodded. “Open the gate; I’ll go look for her.” He said that, and the guard immediately did as he had been told.
Daniel rushed out of the house. He was so worried about her because, who knows, she might have collapsed on the road again. He shook his head. When would that woman learn that she was no longer a child and, as such, had to take care of herself?
.
She sighed as she slowly pushed the door to the dark room open, and the moment the door came open, the lights in the room came on, and she shivered in fear as she used the door as support to stand.
“Tell me, it’s very late; what have you come to tell me that couldn’t wait?” He asked her, and tears streamed down her cheeks as she immediately fell to her knees.
“Godfather, I’m sorry; please forgive me, but I don’t think I can do it. I can’t do it anymore, please. I can’t do it to Daniel, not in forty-eight hours at least.” She told him as she cried her eyes out, and he stared at her.
He banged his hand hard against his chair in anger as he got off the chair, and fear surged through her entire body. The godfather was never to get off his chair when he spoke to someone. The only time he did that was when he was very angry, and she knew this would provoke him, but she definitely didn’t think it would be so much that he would get off the chair.
“You’ve done this so many times already, haven’t you? Tell me, what has changed now? Why can’t you do it this time? Should I kill you instead, and maybe kill…” Before he could speak, she raised her head and stared at him.
“No; you can’t do that, please. I beg of you. You can do anything you want to me, but please, I beg of you, don’t hurt her. I beg you.” She said it in tears, and he nodded.
“You’ll do it, won’t you?” He asked her, and she nodded in tears.
“Yes, I’ll do it; just please don’t hurt her; I won’t be able to take it if anything were to happen to her.” She said it in tears, and he nodded.
“Deadline extension. That would be good, wouldn’t it? I’ll extend your deadline, so that way, you can have more time to think. So tell me, would you rather have a deadline extension or her head on a plate?” He asked her, and she coughed in tears.
“Deadline extension.” She told him, and he smiled as he went back to his seat.
“That’s good. Go get ready; extensions aren’t free; you’ll have to be punished if.” He told her, and she nodded in pain as she walked out of the room, staggering.
.
“Where have you been?” I’ve been so worried about you!” He scolded her as he helped her into the house.
All night, she was out of the house. He had gone around looking for her but wasn’t able to find her, and now she was this weak.
“I’m fine, Daniel. I just decided to take a walk around town and lost consciousness. I’m okay now.” She told him, and he stared at her.
He wasn’t a fool; he could tell that she was lying. She couldn’t fool him, even if she tried her best. “In this condition? Come on, Kathryn. I’m not a fool. Look at the state you’re in; you can’t even stand properly, so how could you take a walk?” He asked her, and she closed her eyes as she recalled all the punishments she had to do and the pain that had been inflicted on her all through the night.
“I’m fine, Daniel. Besides, I’m home now; isn’t that the most important thing?” She asked him, and he nodded as he helped her up to her room.
“Come, I’ll help you get freshened up.” He told her, and recalling the scars she had, she shook her head.
“No, I can do it myself; I’m fine.” She told him, and he passed her a stern glare.
“It’s not a request; it’s an order. You don’t have a choice.” He told her, and she shivered in fear.
As he helped her get dressed, she winced in pain when he got to her hand, and staring at her hand, he couldn’t help but notice something odd.
It wasn’t a tattoo, and it wasn’t a scar; it seemed to be something different. “Tell me, Kathryn. What is this?” He asked her, and the moment he asked her, she withdrew her hand.
“It’s nothing.” She told him, and he stared at her. With how she acted, it had to be something.
