She gasped in shock as she covered her mouth. “Daniel!” She called as she rushed to him.
As she rushed down the stairs, she sprained her ankle, but it didn’t stop her from going to help him, and when she got to him, she saw that he had already lost consciousness. Aside from the fact that he had already lost consciousness, his head was bleeding very badly, and tears started to stream down her cheeks.
“Daniel!” She called out as she continued to shake him hard, tears streaming down her cheeks. She wiped her tears as she looked around. “Martha! Martha.” She yelled as she stared at an unconscious Daniel.
She didn’t mean to push him off; it was all an accident, but it didn’t matter, accident or not, that he was in this state because of her. She wiped her tears and said, “Daniel, I’m so sorry. Please forgive me; I swear I didn’t mean to push you off the railing. It was an accident.” She spoke as more tears streamed down her cheeks.
“Martha!” She yelled again, but the maid wasn’t forthcoming.
She managed to get Daniel up as she led him to the couch. She rushed to the telephone and immediately ordered an ambulance. Before help came, she tried first aid, but then the bleeding seemed to be internal, and he was badly hurt.
She ran her fingers through her hair as she paced the sitting room; it was taking too long. She rushed back to him as she held on to his head.
“Daniel, please. Open your eyes for me!” She screamed in tears.
She was covered in his blood; the wound was deep, and that was because he had a very bad fall. She closed her eyes, and just then, the sirens from the ambulance could be heard, and in a matter of minutes, they rushed in. “Madam, what’s wrong?” She was asked, and she rushed to Daniel.
“He fell off the railing; please help me! I beg of you, save him for me.” She spoke as more tears streamed down her cheeks.
If anything were to happen to Daniel because of her, she would never forgive herself. She closed her eyes as they put him on a stretcher, wheeling him out. His eyes weren’t coming open at all, and at a moment, it felt like he wasn’t even breathing.
The moment he was taken into the ambulance, she tried to go in with him, but she was stopped. “Tell me, who are you to him, and what are you doing here?” One of the men in the ambulance asked her, and she wiped her tears.
What was she to tell them? Who was she to him? A friend, colleague, or seductress? She smiled slightly. “I am a very good friend,” she told him, and he shook his head.
“I’m so sorry, madam. I can’t let you in. You’re not a family member, and neither are you his wife. Unfortunately, we can’t let you in, even if you’re his best friend.” He told her, and she nodded her head.
She completely understood what he was saying. They were only trying to keep Daniel safe, after all. “Alright, I’ll meet you at the hospital.” She said that, and before the ambulance could even finish setting things up, she rushed inside and grabbed his car keys.
She stared at the keys. She wasn’t a very good driver, but she had to be with Daniel at this point. She wiped her tears as she got into the car, starting the engine as she started to drive off. She took in a deep inhale and said, “I’m so sorry, Daniel. I never wanted this to happen.” She spoke to herself as she drove.
The hospital wasn’t very far from the house, but on the way there, she almost got into seven accidents. She wiped her tears away when she finally got to the hospital and found out that the ambulance had already arrived.
She stood outside the ward, waiting for them to come out, and at that moment, she had never been so worried in her entire life. She rushed to the doctor the moment he left. “Doctor, tell me, how is he? What’s wrong? He’ll be fine, right?” She asked him as tears streamed down her cheeks even more, and just as he parted his lips, about to speak, some officers walked in.
“Miss Wilson.” The officer called, and Kathryn immediately turned to the officers.
Aside from the male officers, there were two female officers, and at that moment, she knew she was in trouble because now they could do harm to her.
“Officer. Good evening.” She greeted him as she walked to him, and he stared at her, observing her from head to toe.
“Are you Kathryn Wilson?” He asked her, and she nodded.
“Yes, I am. What’s wrong?” She asked as she gulped, and he chuckled as he took his ID out.
“You’re under arrest, ma’am.” He told her, and her eyes widened in shock.
“Under arrest? What did I do?” She asked him as she stared at him, and just then, she saw Martha, the maid, behind them. “Martha, where have you been?” I’ve been looking for you.” She spoke, and before she could continue speaking, the officer interrupted her.
“Madam, it has come to our knowledge that you pushed Daniel Lopez off the railing off the first floor of his house, and for that, you’re under arrest.” He said that, and her eyes widened in shock.
“It’s a misunderstanding, sir. I swear, I didn’t mean to do it. It was just a reflex action, and I would never want to hurt him. I’m so sorry; please don’t take me away. I need to be with him, and I won’t be at rest unless I know he is fine. Please, I know I was wrong, but can you wait till he’s better? I beg of you.” She pleaded as they handcuffed her, tears streaming down her cheeks.
“I’m so sorry, ma’am. You have to come with us.” The officer told her, and with that, they started to take her away.
She closed her eyes as more tears streamed down her cheeks. “Please be safe, Daniel. I’m so sorry.”
