With her legs shaking, and her eyes hurting, she rushed to the officer in the hospital. “Daniel Lopez. Where is he, please?” She asked as tears streamed down her cheeks, and the officer stared at her.
She was badly inured, and she looked really sick so the fact that she wanted to see Daniel badly only made him wonder who she could be. “Tell me, who are you, and why do you want to see the injured man?” He asked her, and she held on to her head.
“Kathryn Wilson. Please, let me see Daniel, is he alright?” She asked him as tears streamed down her cheeks, and the officer stroke his chin slightly as he stared at her.
“What’s your relation with him? How do you know him?” He asked her, and she gulped.
“I’m his worker. I’m so sorry, just let me see him. We’re friends and also coworkers. Please let me see him, I beg of you.” She told the officer who sighed.
“I’m so sorry, I can’t let you go see him. He is critically ill, we can’t let you in.” He told her, and her eyes widened in shock.
“You don’t understand, I have to go see him, please. Don’t do this to me.” She told him, and at that moment, her legs started to give way.
Her head started to ache even more badly, and she couldn’t stand properly anymore. She started to move back, holding on to her head, and the officer stared at her. “What’s wrong, madam? Are you alright?” He asked her, and she swallowed.
“Daniel. I need to see Daniel!” She said, and with that, she lost consciousness .
Before she could fall to the ground, the officer managed to grab her. “Call the doctor, now!” He yelled.
.
Daniel slowly opened his eyes as he moved on the bed. “Kathryn!” He muttered as he continued to roll on the bed, and the officer stared at him.
He turned to the people on his team as he stared at them. “She was so desperate to see him, and as a result, she lost consciousness, and now, he wants to see her. He hasn’t even regained consciousness, yet he has being calling out to her. Do you think there’s something more to this than friendship?” He asked his colleague who just stared at him.
“That’s none of our business sir, don’t you think?” On hearing that, he nodded.
It was none of his business, his job here was just to get to the root of the attack. Whatever relationship Daniel had with Kathryn was none of his business.
After many hours, Daniel finally regained consciousness, and when he learnt from the nurse that Kathryn had also being admitted to the hospital, he rushed to her, without even caring for himself.
She slowly opened her eyes to see him with her, their hands interlocked, and his head on her bed. “Daniel” she called out to him and he opened his eyes to see her awake.
“Kathryn!” He called out to her with a smile as he planted a kiss on her forehead immediately.
She smiled, “what happened to you? How did you get so hurt?” She asked him as tears streamed down her cheeks, and he closed his eyes.
“Don’t worry about that, Kathryn . I’ll deal with it.” He told her as he stared at her. “Are you alright?” He asked her, and she nodded.
He smiled at her, and her heart warmed at this. Seeing him better was the only thing that mattered to her at that moment. She smiled as she brushed his face slightly with her thumb. She didn’t know what she would have done had anything bad happened to him.
He stared at her, tucking her hair behind her ear. “Can I tell you something?” He asked her, and with a smile on her face, she nodded.
“What is it?” She asked him, and he chuckled.
“You look very beautiful today. More beautiful than ever and I don’t know if it’s just me that sees it that way.” He told her, and she blushed as she turned away from him.
He chuckled as he moved his face closer to hers, whispering slowly. “I like it when you blush, it makes me happy.” He told her, and with that, their faces started to get closer to each others.
At this point, their faces were so close that they could now feel each others breathe. She could feel their lips getting closer and just when they were about to kiss, the door came open, and a nurse walked in.
“Oh my , I’m so sorry. I didn’t know that..” On hearing the nurse’s voice, her eyes opened.
“Oh no, it’s fine. I’m so sorry.” She said as she swallowed.
She stared at Daniel, why did she always feel so drawn to him? Why was she always weak in the knees when she was close to him? She closed her eyes as she took in a deep inhale, could she be in love with him?
She had never felt this way with anyone before after all and the fact that whenever she was with him, she was always so happy made her wonder if she was actually in love with Daniel.
After a few days, they were both discharged from the hospital, and on getting back home, they got even closer to each other. Kathryn found herself always worried about Daniel, and she found herself always happy when she was around him.
It felt like he was the best man for her, but she didn’t know why. One thing was certain, whatever it was, it had to be connected to love.
Meanwhile, Daniel had grown more in love with her. He found himself always restless when she was away from him, and whenever she was closer to him, he always felt at peace.
He couldn’t take it anymore, he had to tell her. He was done hiding how he felt about her.
Maybe it was high time he told her how he actually felt for her.
