She coughed as she slowly opened her eyes to see Daniel in front of her. He was seated on the bed and he was dressed which made her realize that he was already off to work.
“You’re awake.” He told her with a smile on his face as he picked up a glass of water, handing it to her. “Here, take this.” He told her, and she smiled.
“Are you already off to work? Wait for me, I’ll come with you.” She told him, and he stared at her, a slight frown coming up his face.
“Look at yourself, Kathryn. You’re sick. You’re not doing well at the moment.” He told her as he turned to the door, and the moment he turned, a nurse walked in. “Here is the nurse that’ll be taking care of you while I’m off to work. Don’t stress about anything. She is tested and trusted, don’t worry.” He told her, and she stared at him, a smile coming up her face.
“Daniel, I’m fine. You don’t have to do this.” She tried telling him, and he shook his head.
He adjusted his suit, “there. Don’t get out of bed, you’re not doing well. I’ll be back home early today, I need to come check up on you.” He told her, and she smiled.
She really missed him, she was now happy that at least they were good friends again. She wiped her tears, and he smiled at her. “Bye Kathryn.” He told her, and she smiled.
He smiled at her, and with that, he gave the nurse a few instructions before finally leaving the house.
“Madam, tell me. What do you need? I’ll be happy to help you.” The nurse told her with a smile and she shook her head.
“Don’t worry about me, nurse. I’m fine. You don’t have to worry about anything, I just need to rest. My head is aching me, I’ll just sleep. Thank you.” Kathryn told her, and she put some juice in a glass for her.
“Just in case you need anything, just place a call across to me and I’ll come here immediately.” The nurse told her, and she smiled.
“Thank you so much, Nurse. I’ll do as you’ve said.” She told the nurse who smiled at her before leaving.
After the nurse left, she closed her eyes as she drifted to sleep immediately. So what if she was sick? There was one thing that made her happy and that was the fact that Daniel and herself were now on good talking terms.
She took in a deep inhale as she stared at the ceiling, she was very tired, she needed to rest, but for some odd reason, she couldn’t seem to go to bed.
She managed to seat up despite feeling so weak, and she held on to her chest. What was wrong with her? Why was she feeling so uneasy? Could it be that something was about to go wrong?
She swallowed hard as she rubbed her chest slowly, what was wrong with her? She was feeling so scared. She closed her eyes, could it be that Daniel was in some sort of danger? “Oh, almighty, please protect Daniel, save him.” She prayed as tears started to stream down her cheeks.
After some time, the maid walked in and was surprised to see her awake. “What’s wrong, madam? Why are you awake? Didn’t you say you would rest?” The nurse asked her, and she shook her head.
“I can’t sleep, I’m so worried, I don’t know what’s wrong, but I have a feeling, I’ve got a feeling that something is going to go wrong.” She told the nurse, and the nurse poured some water out for her.
“Here you go, have this. Everything is going to be fine.” The nurse told her, and she closed her eyes. She just wished everything would truly be fine as the nurse had said.
She drank the water, “please, Daniel. Be safe. I pray you’re fine.” She said to herself as she gulped.
It was night time already, she was so scared already. She was scared, she didn’t know what to do. On countless occasions, she had asked the nurse about him, but she got the same response. “He’s not back yet, ma’am. When he returns, he’ll definitely come see you, don’t worry.” The nurse had told her, but it still wasn’t enough for her.
She had called him countless times but he wasn’t taking any of her calls. She decided to turn on the television in the room to get her mind off it, but that just got her even more worried.
“Madam, you’re watching television ? You need to rest.” The nurse had told her, and she shook her head.
“Maybe he had some urgent meeting. I’ll just watch this to get my mind off it.” She told the nurse who smiled as she placed the tray of food beside her.
“Alright then, I’ll stay here with you, just in case.” She said, and Kathryn smiled.
“Thank you.”
They decided to watch soap operas and they were already enjoying the different shows when suddenly, it was interrupted for the news.
“Breaking news, Billionaire CEO, Daniel Lopez found unconscious by the road side, and he had sustained a lot of injuries. Doctors say that he has being injured for a very long time and has probably being left on the road for more than five hours.” The reporter said, and Kathryn’s eyes widened in shock as she turned to the nurse.
She gulped as she got off the bed, moving closer to the television, and there, she saw him, looking all inured and bleeding terribly.
“‘Madam!” The nurse tried to call out to her.
“Daniel, I have to go save him.” She said, and made to leave the room when the nurse grabbed her.
“What do you think you’re doing, ma’am? Please stay, I beg of you.” The nurse told her, and she shook her head.
“How can I? He is badly injured, I can’t. I’m so sorry.” She said, and with that, she rushed out of the house.
