She stared at him, shocked. How could he even say that to her? “Are you serious? How evil can I be? I should be asking you that question, Daniel, because last time I checked, it was you who had been lying to me and returned home injured. You know, nothing actually stops me from ignoring you and acting like I didn’t know you were injured, but guess what? I didn’t do that. I chose to still tend to your wounds, so please don’t be a jerk about it and let me help you.” She told him, and he stared at her. She was right. He really was a jerk.
He ran his fingers through his hair as he stared at her. He felt bad-extremely bad-that he had to say those things to her. “I’m so sorry, Kathryn. I didn’t really mean to say those things to you.” He told her, and she rolled her eyes as she continued to tend to his wounds.
“Whether you meant to say those things to me or not, you still said them, and I won’t forget it.” She told him as she continued to tend to his wounds, not even bothering to stare at him.
When he could not take the silent treatment any longer, he held on to her hand as he stared at her, peering deep into her eyes. “Stop this, Kathryn. Look at me, I said, look at me.” He told her as she continued to look away. “Please.” He told her, and she slowly raised her head to stare at him. “I’m sorry.” He told her, and she smiled slightly as she took her hands out of his.
“What exactly are you sorry for, Daniel? Lying to me, making me look like a fool? Humiliating me or asking me how evil I could be Tell me, which one are you sorry for?” She asked him, and he sighed.
“Everything. Listen to me, Kathryn. I know you have questions; I do too, but just trust me, please. I have a reason for every single thing I do, so just trust me and do as I say, alright?” He asked her, and she took a deep breath.
“It’s fine, but please don’t lie to me; I just can’t take it.” She told him, and he nodded.
“I promise.” He said, and she smiled, that it meant a lot to her that he had promised not to lie to her.
A FEW DAYS LATER…
It had been days since the incident that happened between Kathryn and Daniel, and now they had made up. They were now cool with each other, and as they sat under the stars on the balcony, Kathryn couldn’t help but smile.
She and Daniel had a coat wrapped around them, and it was making her happy that now at least they were fine with each other, no disputes at all.
While they were having a conversation, Daniel suddenly received a call. It was from one of his men, and the moment he answered the call, the look on his face changed for the worse.
“What’s wrong? Who’s on the call?” She asked him as he got up from the chair where they were seated.
“I’ll be back.” He told her angrily, and without even bothering to take his phone with him, he left.
She stared at him, confused. What could have come up that would have caused him to leave like that, without even a word?
.
After about two to three hours, Daniel walked into the house, and Kathryn was seated in the living room. He was sweating, and he ran his fingers through his hair as he walked to where she was seated.
She had seen him but then refused to acknowledge his presence. He stared at her. What could have gone wrong with her? She was never like this; she would definitely never see him here and not acknowledge his presence.
“Kathryn!” He called out to her, and ignoring him, she got up and made to leave when he held on to her hand, stopping her.
She stood there, angered, as she pushed his hand away, walking away when he spoke. “What’s wrong? Why are you upset?” He asked her. She ignored him as she continued to walk away from him, so he spoke. “What’s this, Kathryn? Can you stop acting like a child and answer me?” He asked her.
She chuckled and scoffed as she turned to him. “Me? Acting like a child? You know, Daniel. It’s funny how every time you make a mistake, I get blamed for it. I am acting like a child. What’s wrong with you, Daniel? I really need to know. Tell me!” She asked him as she pushed him away, and he stared at her, shocked.
“What’s wrong with me? I should be the one asking that question, Kathryn. I get back, you stop talking to me, and now that you are, it’s to ask me what’s wrong with me.” He told her as he ran his fingers through his hair.
“Where were you?” She asked him as she folded her hands against her chest.
He stared at her. “Didn’t we agree that you wouldn’t ask me about these things?” He asked her, and she chuckled.
“You went to hit him, didn’t you? You went to beat him half to death after I had pleaded with you not to, didn’t you?” She asked him as she ran her fingers through her hair.
“I don’t want to talk about this. Excuse me.” He told her and made her leave when she held on to his hand.
“You won’t leave, not now that I demand answers. I pleaded with you, Daniel. I asked you not to lay a finger on him, didn’t I? Isn’t it enough for you that he is in your custody, away from people? Why did you have to go back there to hit him?” She asked him, and he took her hands off.
“Revenge. I won’t stop till he suffers.” He said that and started walking away when she spoke.
“You’ll have to make a decision, Daniel. You’ll have to decide what’s more important. Revenge or my friendship with you?” She asked him.
He chuckled and said, “It’s really cute how you try to blackmail me, but let’s get this straight, Kathryn. We aren’t friends. You’re just a worker, while I’m the boss.” He told her, and with that, he left.
She stared at him, shocked. She could have never believed that he would say those words to her.
