She can’t believe this and she walks into the office to see some dust particles. She felt betrayed staring at the office and she couldn’t help but force her tears back in. She couldn’t cry, not for him at least.
Angrily, she walked out of the office as she slammed the door shut behind her before walking away.
“What’s wrong Kathryn? You…” before the colleague of hers could even complete her statement, Kathryn walked away.
She scoffed as she watched Kathryn walked away.
“I wonder what is wrong with her” she spoke to herself as she exhaled, it didn’t have to bother her now did it?
As she placed her hand to her head, trying so hard to calm her nerves, one of the maids placed some fruits before her. “Here madam, this should help you relax ” the maid told her and she shook her head as she pushed it away slightly.
“I’m so sorry mama but at the moment, I’m not in the mood for this” she said as she rested her head back.
All through her ride back home, she couldn’t help but think of possible reasons Daniel would lie to her. It wasn’t like she was going to hit him if he didn’t tell her the truth now was she? All she just wanted was for him to tell her the truth but he had just hurt her, a lot by doing this.
He had made her look and feel stupid in front of herself and any other person who cared. She took a deep inhale as she poured herself a glass of water. If there was anything, anything at all that she knew she couldn’t tolerate, it had to be lies. He had lied to her, massively and she would make sure to never forget it.
She sighed as she finally gave in to the maid’s pleas as she took a bite of the fruit, at least it was slightly refreshing. She sighed to herself, she couldn’t have ever believed Daniel would do this to her. It still broke her heart that he could do something like this.
He had being giving her attitude all these days had he not? He had being trying to make her feel like thrash, like she was desperate to talk to him wasn’t he? She took a deep inhale, she would also make him feel the same way. He would also know what it felt like to be ignored and treated like you were desperate to talk to someone.
“You can go now, thank you.” She told the maid who smiled at her before walking away.
She was still in thought when she looked to the side and that was when she saw something, it was blood and it was dripping on the whole floor and when she raised her head, she gasped at the sight of Daniel staggering into the house.
He looked battered and it looked like he had being attacked by a gang of robbers before being beaten half to death.
“Daniel!” She called as she rushed to him, putting his hands around her neck as she put hers around his waist.
At that moment, seeing him like this, she had forgotten all her vows, all the vows that she had made concerning not talking to him and making him feel exactly how he’d made her feel and she helped him get to his room as she stared at him, fear and worry getting the best of her.
He closed his eyes as his head ached badly, the pain had become unbearable and he didn’t think he could have survived it. She took out the first aid kit as she immediately started to tend to him.
“Ouch!” He winced as the ointment came in contact with his skin.
Hearing him let out a pained whimper broke her heart, what was wrong with her? She asked herself as she tended to his wounds. What happened to all the vows and promises she had made to herself? What happened to everything she had told herself as she treated him?
As she blew air to his wounds, he couldn’t help but stare at her, he quickly moved his hands away as she continued to tend to him.
“What are you doing? Are you trying to help me or cause me more pain?” He asked her and she ignored him as she continued to tend to his wounds.
She was worried about him and until she knew he was better, she wouldn’t have peace of mind. She swallowed as she placed the methylated spirit to his wounds and he immediately held on to her hand tightly as he pressed his lips tightly against each other, making sure he didn’t realease any sound or whimper.
She sighed as she blew a little air to his wounds, trying to soothe the burn the spirit was causing before continuing. “Tell me, where have you being going all these days under the guise of going to the office?” She asked him as she rinsed a towel in water before rubbing it on his skin, taking the blood off.
He stared at her, “what is that supposed to mean? I’ve being going to the office” he told her and she stopped as tears started to well up in her eyes. She stared at him and he could see her eyes glisten but then he looked away.
She smiled, she wasn’t willing to push it further, it was his choice, he had chosen not to tell her the truth and she wasn’t going to force it out on him.
“How did you get hurt?” She asked him and he withdrew his hands.
“You may leave now” he told her and she stared at him, confused as to how his mood suddenly changed.
She took his hands back. “You’re injured and I’m here to help.” She told him before placing the gel to his wounds and this was more painful than the others and in a reflexive move, he pushed her away as he moved his hands in air in pain.
“How evil can you be?” He asked her angrily and she blinked as this time, the tears streamed down her cheeks.
She could no longer hold them in.
