She stood there, unable to believe what she had just heard from him. Did he really say those words to her? She fell to the floor as she burst into tears.
She placed her head on the couch closer to her as she let the tears stream down her cheeks even more. She couldn’t believe it, after all the time they had spent together, she had been thinking they were friends, she had thought that after all those times that she had come to his rescue and he had come to hers, they had become even closer friends, but sadly, that wasn’t what he saw jt as.
Apparently, he still saw her as the hit girl that had been hired to come kill him few months back, and even worse, he just saw her as the woman who was willing to do anything for mkney.
She smiled as she wiped her tears slowly, maybe in all the time that had passed, he never saw her as anything more than the woman who he had paid hundred million dollars to make him fall for her.
She tucked her hair behind her ear, despite all these thoughts running through her mind, she still didn’t want to believe it. She still didn’t want to believe all those words that had come out of Daniel’s mouth but what could she do?
She swallowed as she got up, going to the kitchen. She took out a knife as she stared at it, and she held on to her hair. She went straight to the store where the bag of flour was kept, and before she could say anything, she started sending the knife through the bag, causing it to be all over the place.
As she stabbed the flour, she kept on screaming Daniel’s name. She didn’t shed a tear, but anyone who passed could see that she was hurt, extremely hurt.
She fell to the floor after ruining the flour as she held on to her shirt. She sighed, “no, we’re friends. Daniel, we’re friends, close friends at that. You just said that because you’re upset with me, you didn’t mean it.” She said as she turned, “you didn’t mean it. I know it.” She said, getting up.
She grabbed the knife as she rushed out of there. She went back to the kitchen, washed the knife as she did her hair. She poured out a glass of water for herself as she gulped it in a go, and before she knew it, Daniel passed by her.
She stared at him, swallowing, and totally ignoring her presence, he walked out of the place. She stared at him, shocked. What changed? What suddenly came over him? How did he suddenly change from a man who really cared about her to this man right here?
She tucked her hair behind her ear, it wouldn’t get to her, deep down, she believed that he didn’t mean any of those things. Maybe he was just trying to tell her that he was mature enough to take care of himself but didn’t know the right way to tell her, and as such, found this the only way to say it to her.
She nodded, a smile on her face, of course, that was it. This was the only logical explanation she could come up with for herself after all. After eating, and calming herself down, she stayed up waiting for him.
She stared at the clock, and then her wrist watch. From time to time, she just kept staring at the door, waiting for him to return, but then he was wasting time.
She picked up her phone, dialed his number, and just as it started to ring, she hung up. What would she say? She didn’t know what to say if eventually he took the call so she hung up. She didn’t want more trouble as him telling her they weren’t friends was already enough for her.
She definitely wouldn’t be able to take it if he said anything more about their friendship to her. She could collapse if he did, and that was certain.
She took a deep sigh, “I’ll just wait for him to come home, maybe then I can ask him for answers.” She consoled herself.
After some time, a long time of her waiting for Daniel to get back, he did. She stared at him, he was very tired, and as such, she rushed to him, helping him get to the couch.
Immediately she helped him to the couch, she poured a glass of water for him, and just as he was about to take it, he stared at her, and after staring at her for a few seconds, he threw the glass to the floor in anger. “Tell me, Kathryn. What do you want? Tell me! What don’t you get about the fact that we’re not friends?” He asked her, and she swallowed.
“I’m just helping you, I …” before she could even complete her statement, he cut her off.
“Shut up! Just shut the hell up. I know what you’re trying to do, I’m not a fool. Listen to me, and listen clearly. If you think because of all those romantic moments we shared we are suddenly friends, then I must tell you, you’re wrong. I don’t consider those things as special. You know what I see them as? I just see them as you working for the money.” He told her, and without even giving her time to digest what he had just told her, he pushed her away as he walked out on her.
She could not believe it, those moments, she held them dear, but then, he didn’t even see them as friendship moments, he just saw them as moments that were counted as her working for the money he was paying.
For the first time, she broke into tears, she could have never believed he would ever say those words to her. They hit her, and she couldn’t stop herself.
Meanwhile, Daniel was standing at a corner. Seeing her cry like that was breaking his heart and he wanted to go to her and console her but he couldn’t. He clenched his fists tight, he had to control himself.
He had to be strong.
