“You must be silly, I wasn’t lost in thoughts or anything ” Daniel told her as he got off his seat.
“If you weren’t lost then tell me why you didn’t answer when I called?” She asked him as she walked to his front, preventing him from going away.
“I just didn’t want to” he told her as he tried to divert his gaze from hers.
“You just didn’t want to, oh really is that it?” She asked him as she chuckled. “Ok then, maybe when I start dreaming, I’ll also tell you I didn’t just want to talk to you” she told him before going back to her seat.
“How’d you know I was dreaming about you?” He asked her as she made a sign with her hand that represented victory.
“I knew it, you were daydreaming but about me? I didn’t know you were dreaming about me” she said with a smile on her face as she walked to him. “Tell me, what did you dream about me?” She asked with a smile.
“Shoot!” He cursed as he slightly banged his hand on the desk. She was smiling again, that smile of hers did things to him, things that he couldn’t explain!
“I’m waiting for an answer you know. Tell me what you were dreaming about me” she asked
“Don’t mind me, stop taking everything I say seriously so please get back to work, we have a project to finish and in a few days, we’d be going to city C. We have a business meeting to attend there” he told her as he sat back.
She stared at him, he’d managed to divert their discussion to the business meeting. “Why city C? You know we can’t go there by air don’t you?” She asked
“That’s where the legal business partners want us to meet. So what if we can’t go by air? We’ll go by land.. I have a car after all” he told her before diverting his face back to his laptop.
She rolled her eyes, she hated long car travels!

“Here, I got lunch for two” Daniel told her as he dropped the food on her desk.
She raised her head, “awe, this is so sweet. How’d you know I was craving rice?” She asked him with a smile as he went back to his desk.
“You’re my assistant, we’ve been working in the same office for three days. Who’d know what you want except me?” He asked her as he rolled his eyes.
“You know, I feel like our relationship is pretty reversed” she said as she started eating.
“What do you mean?” He asked her.
“Can’t you see? As your assistant, most times, I should be the one to get you coffee and food while you work but you’re the one who does all these things for me… I’m really a unique assistant ” she said to him as she continued to eat.
He smiled to himself as he heard her mention, unique. Of course she was unique. Not only was she unique, she was also special, very special, to his heart.
THREE DAYS LATER…
Kathryn continued to nod her head, moving to the rhythm of the song when the car suddenly came to an abrupt stop, causing her to jerk forward.
“What the heck? Why’d you suddenly stop?” She asked him as she took off her headphones.
“I didn’t do that on purpose, the car stopped on its own ”
He told her as he opened the car’s door, getting down from it.
“Stopped on its own? How is this possible? Didn’t you just fill it at the petroleum station?” She asked him as she also got down from the car to go have a look.
“I did ” he told her as he opened the car, trying to figure out what had suddenly gone wrong with the car that was perfectly fine a few moments ago.
He examined the car for a really long time but he couldn’t seem to figure out what was wrong with it. “I can’t see what’s wrong with it and it’s so dark ” he told her and she looked up, it was soon going to start to rain.
“So what do we do now?” She asked him when an idea suddenly popped in her head. “Why don’t you call a mechanic? He could help ” she told him.
“That’s not going to be possible” he told her
“And why is that?” She asked him.
“There’s no signal here, it’ll be impossible to…” before he could complete his statement, the rain started pouring heavily on them. “Oh my goodness!” He said as he made to rush into the car but then stopped when he saw that Kathryn wasn’t coming with him. He looked at her, she was going further into the rain and twirling in it like a little child.
“What are you doing?” He asked her “you’ll get cold!” He told her.
“Come join me, it’s so fun to be in the rain” she told him as she rushed to him and dragged him, hugging him as she enjoyed the rain, spreading her hands so it could make more contact with her skin.
He stared at her with a smile on his face, jt just seemed like as the days passed, he had grown more attracted to her.
“Kathryn you will catch a cold” he told her as he released her from his embrace.
“No I won’t ” she told him as she caught some water kn her hand before splashing it in his face. “Now stop being a party pooper and just enjoy the rain with me” she told him.
“Me? Party pooper? I’ll show you now” he told her and that was how they started to enjoy the rain, playing with each other till it stopped raining.

“Oh my goodness, I think you were right, I might catch a cold soon” she told him as she sneezed hard.
He rolled his eyes as he helped her get into the car. Immediately they were in the car, he put his hands in the back seat and took a coat before handing it to her. “Here, this should keep you warm ” he told her
“And you? You’re also cold are you not?” She asked him. “What will you use?”
“No problem I’ll just take off my shirt and then I’ll be fine ” he told her and she shook her head
“No, we’ll share this” she said to him as she took off the coat she’d worn to the business meeting.
“But how?” He asked her.
“From the look of things, cars don’t pass by here and there’s no network. We’ll have to wait till it’s morning before we can leave so we’ll be spending the night here ” she told him as she went to the back seat while he followed her.
“That’s true” he told her and before he knew it, she had put the coat around the boat of them and rested her head on his shoulder, putting her right arm behind him.
He smiled to himself as he wrapped his hands around her. They were now keeping each other warm!

“Thanks” Kathryn told Daniel as they walked into the house. They were lucky enough to have found help after having been stuck with a broken car.
“You keep thanking me for the most ridiculous reasons and…” before he could complete his statement, Daniel heard someone call him.
“Bro, I thought you’d never come back” he heard the person say and on turning, he clenched his fists. This was definitely not the person he wanted to see.
“Louis?” He called, shocked as Louis walked to him and gave him a huge hug, one like two brothers who had been missing each other for a very long time.
“Bro, cousin bro, so long, I’m sure you had a nice night ” he said as he stared at Kathryn who was still shivering from having been in the rain at night. He licked his lips as he stared at her from head to toe.
“Don’t cousin me. Haven’t I warned you to never address me as cousin again?” Daniel asked angrily.
“But why bro? Aren’t we cousins?” he asked
“We are but I don’t want to keep being the cousin to a playboy like you ” Daniel said and Louis burst into laughter before hugging him again.
This time, he whispered something into Daniel’s ears. “That girl there, you had a nice time with her last night. Won’t you give me a chance to?” He asked and Daniel clenched his fists hard.
