She smiled and looked away. She settled her gaze on Little Pumpkin.
“Little Pumpkin how is school?” She asked.
“Huh? School? School is fine.” He replied.
“Are you mad at me? I no longer have time for you…” She pouted.
“Ah,” He smiled.
She smiled back at him. “Don’t be mad at Noona. Very soon, I’ll find time for you and we’ll go out together.”
“Nde.” Little Pumpkin replied, grinning from ear to ear.
Emily nodded her head and they resumed eating.
When they were done eating, she took Little Pumpkin to his room and read him a story until he fell asleep.
“You should read me a story till I fall asleep too.” Joel who was standing by Little Pumpkin’s door spoke up immediately Emily walked out of his nephew’s room.
“Aishhh… You scared me.”She panicked.
“Kaja.” He took her by her hand and pulled her towards the stairs.
“Waeee?” She whined as they climbed up the stairs.
“You are going to read a story for me too. Aish, how can you make me jealous like that.” Joel clicked his tongue.
She blinked her eyes rapidly for a few seconds; what did she do to make him jealous?
She shook her head as he pulled her into his room. The man liked to act like a baby sometimes. She sneered.
Joel sat her down on the chair and got in his bed. “Read for me a story.”
Emily pouted, “but there is no book to read.”
“Who cares, just read something.” He whined.
Emily felt like punching him in the face. ‘Just read something’ Really? Was she a broadcaster? Oh, she forgot she was indeed a broadcaster. But that didn’t mean the man could just…
Joel’s voice brought her out of her thoughts; “what are you doing, throwing daggers at me with the look on your face?”
He clicked his tongue. “Wae? So, you want to kill me now? Tsk. Just read already.”
Emily sneered puffily. After a few seconds, she cleared her throat.
“There lived a Prince. He was so handsome that all the maiden in the village wanted to marry him. But among the maidens, there was a poor girl who also wished to marry him; she knew she couldn’t because she was poor. She was sad.”
“One day, she was sent to the palace by her mother to go and work for the royal family. The Prince fell in love with her at first sight and made up his mind to marry her.”
“Even though the king and queen refused to have the poor girl as their princess, after a lot of persuasion and threat, the prince managed to convince them to accept her as their daughter-in-law. The prince ended up marrying the poor maiden, and they lived happily ever after.” Emily clapped her hands in delight as she ended her story.
“How was the story? You like it?” She looked up at Joel.
To her surprise, he was already asleep.
She smiled and rose to her feet. She tucked in the ruffled bedsheet and adjusted the duvet around Joel. She planted a kiss on his forehead and turned around to leave.
She felt a hand grip her wrist and she turned back.
“Sleep here tonight,” Joel muttered silently, his eyes closed and his right hand wrapped tightly around Emily’s wrist.
She stared at him in silence and allowed herself to be pulled down to the bed. She got in bed beside him and Joel wrapped his hands around her waist.
He had listened to her story. One thing he knew for sure was that he was the prince and she was the poor maiden, in their case.
Who the king and queen were, in their case, he wasn’t sure but he knew they were also in that point of their lives where they had to threaten and persuade those that were against their union.
“Good night, Princess.” He smooched the back of Emily’s head.

“Director, are you saying you are not going to fire her even if she doesn’t get the documentary done?” Stephanie was beginning to lose it.
“And so what? You almost ruined my life. Listen to me, I don’t want to have anything to do with you again! Whore!” Mr. Clinton spat out in annoyance.
Her eyelashes wavered slightly, “mbo?”
He eyed her and walked out of the hotel room.
Stephanie couldn’t believe her ears. The director just called her a whore, and he also walked out on her.
He even said he didn’t want to have anything to do with her again. The director had never insulted her that way before, and now he was even cutting ties with her because of that wench. She balled up her hands into fists.
It was high time she dealt with that Emily herself. Yeah, she no longer had the director’s favor, and she was gradually losing the top one position to the stupid girl. The sex scandal was her only ticket to saving her life now. She fall back on the plan she had with the minister.

Michael was almost going crazy as he walked back and forth. He really missed his wife.
At first, he thought Evelyn eloped with some other guy, but after he received that message, he knew she was kidnapped.
But why Emily? Why was it Emily they wanted in exchange for Evelyn; and why now of all time? Why, after all of those years? He ruffled his hair in frustration.
He cared about Emily. And the fact that his younger brother was in love with her was not helping matters. He shouldn’t care about that though. He guessed he should focus on getting his wife back.
He was ready to do anything to get Evelyn back; if it meant trading Emily, he would.

“So, CEO Lee, I was thinking we should put the offer to action.” Stephanie crossed her legs as she sat down.
She had dialed the minister’s number immediately after she left the hotel and asked for them to meet in a bar.
“When?” CEO Lee asked, stroking his beard as he stared at Stephanie.
“Next week Monday. You know Empire World is celebrating her anniversary on Monday right?” She carried her glass, filled with wine, and sipped from it.
“Yes. I received an invitation letter earlier today.” CEO Lee replied.
Stephanie smirked. “Good. That night, you’ll put my offer to work in one of the hotel rooms.”
CEO Lee grinned. “And it will be a pleasure working with you.”

Due to an urgent call he received from Noah, Joel had to leave Emily’s side very early the next morning.
She scratched the back of her head as she stood up from the bed. She yawned and picked up the letter that was lying on the bedside table.
“GOT A CALL FROM THE OFFICE, HAVE A PLEASANT DAY?”
She clicked her tongue, “psst”
‘Why didn’t he add I LOVE YOU?’ She whined as she strolled towards the door.
She frowned and turned the knob of the door. ‘So annoying’
“You sleep in his room now, right, whore?” Danielle’s words pierced through Emily’s skin as she stepped out of Joel’s room.
Emilly blinked her eyes and met her gaze.
“Are you dumb? What were you doing in his room?” She spat out.
“Err… I,” Emily’s voice trailed off.
“Huh!”She scoffed.
“If you don’t stay away from Joel, I will kill you. If I can’t have him, no one else can.” Danielle threatened.
She walked into her room and slammed the door behind her.
Her threat gave Emily goosebumps as she stood in front of Joel’s door. Even the look on Danielle’s face was enough to make her faint.
The rate at which Emily’s heart beat, accelerated. She dragged her feet to her room and closed the door behind her.
With a heavy heart, she brushed her teeth and took her bath; she dressed up, tied her hair in a bun; carried her bag, and stepped out of her room.
She walked downstairs and made to walk out of the lounge when she saw Michael walking out of the kitchen with a glass of water in his hand.
She was surprised to see him at home.
“Oppa,” she called instantly.
He let out a small smile and walked towards her. “Ah, Emily,”
“You are not going to the office today…” Her voice trailed off.
“Hm, no.” He replied as he stood in front of her.
“Ahh.” She nodded her head.
“Annyeonghaseyo.” She waved her hand and made to walk past Michael when she felt him hold her wrist.
“Huh? Oppa, what is it?” She furrowed her brows and turned around.
“I’m sorry, Emily,” Michael muttered softly.
He let go of her hand and walked away to his room.
Emily stood still in her tracks and pouted her lips. She felt chills in her spine.
She furrowed her brows. “Sorry?”
“Aish, why is everyone giving me goosebumps?” She rubbed her body and headed out of the lounge.
