He quickly held open the door for Joel to enter his office but he watched in confusion as his boss simply walked past him.
‘Does he not know his office again?…’ Noah groaned inwardly and ran after his boss.
His boss was a real pain in his neck.
Joel took long strides into the conference room and the officials stood up on their feet and bowed their heads as he walked leisurely to his seat.
They sat only after he was already seated.
He draped his legs on the long conference table and crossed them. “Let the meeting begin.”
Noah opened his mouth ajar as he watched his boss in utmost surprise. His mouth was almost touching the floor.
‘Did he not just tell me to cancel the meeting? I might run mad because of this man. Gosh!’ he facepalmed himself.
His boss was something else. He quickly collected himself and walked over to his seat.
Joel smiled to himself, paying no attention to the meeting going on in the room. He was only there to while away the time till it was time for EWEI’s meeting.
He was in charge of the business corporation while his elder brother was in charge of the entertainment industry.
Since he had a meeting to attend in the industry, why not pay his brother a surprise visit…
Truth be told, he wasn’t going to the industry for the stupid meeting.
He was going there to taste the food that the girl had prepared for his brother. He needed to eat that.
Once the meeting was over, he stood up on his feet and took long strides out of the conference room with his personal assistant trailing closely behind him.
“We are heading straight to the industry boss. It’s already time for the meeting with the middle managers.” Noah announced once they were out of the conference room, ticking out some things on the tablet in his hand.
“Umn.” Joel nodded his head.
He decided to use the escalator down to the next floor.
“Have you looked into what I told you about?” He asked, putting his hands in his pockets as the escalator rode them down to the floor below his office.
Noah pressed his lips in a thin line. “Not yet boss. I’ll look into it as soon as I am chanced.”
“Umn, okay.” Joel twitched up his lips.
I’m they got off the escalator, Joel walked briskly towards the exit.
He looked beside him, taking a glance at the employees that were on their feet, at their various desks; bowing and shivering because of his presence.
He smirked and turned, then BUMP! Someone bumped into him.
Gasps broke out through the entire floor.
Joel flushed angrily and looked down at his tuxedo.
The cold aura emanating from his body made everyone shudder in fear. Even Noah almost puked.
The CEO could dismiss every single employee on that floor and no one would question him. He wouldn’t be affected in any way, and nothing would happen to Empire World Corporation the corporation would run even better.
Noah’s eyes were bulging out of their sockets as he looked at the lady that had bumped into The Boss.
Like, couldn’t have bumped into someone else? Was she blind? Did she want him to lose his job? Did she have to bump into The Boss…
“Boss, sh-she will be di-dismissed from work immediately.” Noah stuttered, breaking into cold sweats.
He felt like giving the lady a hard knock on her head.
Joel looked down at the lady that was already on her knees in front of him, pleading and sobbing uncontrollably.
She looked somewhat familiar…
He furrowed his brows, trying to recollect her face.
Ah! She was in that elevator last night, with the lady that was saying bad things about him.
He looked around, searching for her. He saw her standing with a few onlookers at a far end.
He smirked.
“No, don’t fire her.” He said to his assistant.
He turned back to face the ‘bad’ lady and nodded his head in her direction. “Fire her.”
“Mbo?” Noah stared bewilderedly at his boss, with his mouth almost dropping on the floor.
‘why does he want to sack a person that didn’t even do anything.’ he blinked his eyes rapidly.
Joel gazed coldly at his dumb personal assistant.
“Ah, yes Sir.” Noah bowed quickly as he noticed his boss’s cold glare.
He turned towards the lady that had done absolutely nothing wrong to his boss. He felt pity for her, but there was nothing he could do-unless he wanted to get his ass fired too.
“Report yourself to your head of department.”
He twitched up his lips and turned back to face his boss.
Joel glanced back at the lady on the floor for a while and threw his handkerchief in her laps before walking out, through the exit, with his assistant right behind him.
That was the least he could do for her. He never interacted with nobodies, and he never would.
Noah shook his head feverishly as he trailed after his boss. ‘boss is mysterious. He pardoned the person that was at fault and dismissed someone that did nothing wrong. He even gave that lady a gift-his handkerchief!?’
“Kamsahamnida!!! Thank you Sir!!!” the lady on the floor cried with delight and quickly stood on her feet, watching the CEO’s retreating figure.
She bowed continuously until the CEO and his personal assistant was out of sight. “Kamsahamnida!!!!”
She stared at the handkerchief on her hands and sniffed the pleasant cologne that was emanating from it.
“Wow.” she closed her eyes dreamily.
Never in her wildest imagination did she imagine she’d ever get to touch something that belonged to the CEO. Even the employees that worked on the top floor-the CEO’s office, had never gotten to touch any of his belongings, except for his personal assistant, of course.
He didn’t talk to her but the handkerchief he gave her was more than enough.
Other employees soon gathered around her, pleading to touch the handkerchief.
The lady that had bad-mouthed the CEO the previous night cried uncontrollably as she dragged her feet to the office of her head of department.
She had no choice but to go. It was the CEO’s order and there was nothing anyone could do. But then, why did he fire her? Why her?… Or, was her judgment last night right? Was it the CEO that was in the elevator with them the previous night?
He was the one. Or why would he fire her instead of firing Kim Myeong…
Either way, her career was over. Next time, she’d know to keep her mouth shut.
Joel stepped in the backseat of the car while his assistant got in the driver’s seat.
EMPIRE WORLD ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY would be so shocked to have CEO Joel Manchester in her abode. Noah shook his head pitifully.
Not too long afterward, they arrived at the industry.
Joel stepped out of the car in his dazzling tuxedo, with sunshade on his face.
He flicked the tip of his hair as he took long graceful strides into the industry.
Before he could take ten steps into the main building, news had already circulated through the entire industry that he was around; the filming section, broadcasting section, music section, artistic section, and the rest.
“Ohhhh”
“The CEO is here!”
“Ahhhh ahhhh”
“The CEO of Empire World Corporation is here!”
“Oh my!”
“Our city’s sweetheart is here”
“Have you seen him”
“Where is he?”
“Gosh, I’m gonna faint”
“Oppa!!!!”
“I’m going crazy.”
“He is so handsome!”
It was true that the higher-ups in the entertainment industry were holding a meeting and had invited the CEO but they were not expecting him to attend.
He had never attended one before.
They knew that he’d never attend any of their meetings but they always sent invitation letters to the corporation, just as a way of, you know, showing their respect.
But dang it! He did attend this time around.
The middle management in the industry all ran down to the ground floor to welcome the CEO as soon as they heard that he was around.
At first, they didn’t believe the news…
The CEO fluttered his eyelashes and sat on a couch, skipping through a book, waiting for the stupid middle managers to come down to meet him.
“Is this how you work here?” the CEO’s voice made them tremble in fear as soon as they had formed a horizontal line before him.
Employees have already gathered around, watching his every move from afar as he sat handsomely on the couch.
“Is this how you treat my brother too?…” he asked, crossing his legs majestically, slowly skipping through the book.
All this while, Noah was standing behind him, pitying the managers.
“You are all tired of your jobs right…” Joel twitched up his mouth.
Not for once, did he raise his head from the book he was reading, to look at the shivering middle managers.
None of them was even able to talk, they just stood there before the CEO, their head to the ground, and their body trembling seriously
“Try this again,” Joel snapped the book shut and stood up on his feet.
He pointed his finger at the managers and clicked his tongue. “… and get your stinking asses fired!”
Without looking back at them, he rode the nearest elevator, with his PA, to his brother’s office.
The middle managers hastily squeezed themselves in another elevator and rode to the top floor.
