She watched the handsome god as he gazed coldly at her.
Joel pocketed his hands as he stood by the doorway. “Speak.”
“Mem.. ermm.. I… I can explain.” She stammered.
He watched her blankly. “Explain.”
She scratched her hair in confusion. “It’s… it’s… I can… erm…”
She didn’t know what to say.
“I’ll pay you back.” She finally managed to blurt out.
No Response ?
She swallowed in fear. “Please…”
Who knew what the handsome god was going to do to her.
“Tell me what you want… I-I’ll do itttt…” She stammered uncontrollably.
Something flashed through Joel’s eyes as he watched her. He took a step forward, his gaze on the girl unwavering.
Emily gulped and took a step back in fear. He took another step forward and she took another backward. He took a step forward again, she, took her’s, backward.
Her heart was beating faster than normal like it was suddenly going to pop out of her chest.
What he was going to do to her, she didn’t know. Was he going to hit her…
The duo continued to take steps until her back hit the fridge, and she could no longer take any step backward.
He was just an inch away from her and their breath was feathering on each other’s face very lightly.
Joel gazed closely at the girl that was right in front of him as if scrutinizing her.
Emily gulped again for the umpteenth time as she peered into the eyes of the cold, dangerous man, before her.
There was no way out.
?️?️?️
Joel smirked. He reached down behind the girl and opened the fridge.
He took out a soju, flicked his hair with his finger, and took long strides out of the kitchen.
Emily waited for a while, her back against the fridge. After she was sure he had left, she released her breath and exhaled deeply, with her hands on her chest.
She slowly tiptoed out of the kitchen to her room.
???
Early the next morning, Emily brushed Little Pumpkin’s teeth, bathed him, and dressed him up for school.
Her lips curled up in a cute smile as she carried Little Pumpkin into the car. “Little Pumpkin, see you in the afternoon, okay?”
“Yes.” Little Pumpkin nodded his head happily.
His pretty noona was back, he had no reason not to be.
“Read your books and obey your teacher okay?” She shut the door.
Little Pumpkin nodded his head again obediently. “Yes.”
“Don’t forget to drink the soju, okay?” Emily grinned.
Little Pumpkin nodded his head and took a peek at the soju in his hand. “Huhn.”
“I love you. Fighting?” Emily waved her hand and took three steps backward.
(A/N: fighting is a word used to cheer people and wish them well)
Little Pumpkin’s heart was about to pop out of his chest, the really beautiful noona just said she loved him. He’d eat the food she packed for him and drink soju; gain strength, do his best in school and make her proud. Yes!
Little Pumpkin waved non-stop at the beautiful noona till the car was out of the villa.
Emily also waved at the car till it was out of sight. She turned and headed into the lounge.
Michael was just coming out of his room with his eyes on his wristwatch. He was clad in a black suit, his hair was styled to the front, stopping slightly on his brow bones.
Emily peered at him as he handed his overcoat over to the nearest maid. He looked so happy-but she knew that underneath his happy face, there was a sad story. She had heard him cry in his room the previous night.
Michael looked up and saw her. “Emily.”
Emily zoomed out of her thoughts and quickly bowed her head. “Ahhh, annyeonghaseyo.”
“Annyeong.” Michael’s lips curled up in a cute smile as he walked towards her.
“It’s a good thing you’re back. Thank you.” He patted her arm gently.
“Ahhh, yes.” Emily bowed shortly but respectfully.
“See you later. I’m late.” He smiled and headed out of the lounge.
Something flashed through Emily’s eyes. She quickly ran to the kitchen and packed the other lunchbox. She took a soju from the fridge and ran after Michael.
“Oppa,” Emily called after him.
(A/N: oppa means elder brother. It’s used by a female)
“Uhm?” Michael turned back and watched as Emily ran towards him.
“I prepared this for you, please eat well when you get to the office. You look lean.” She pouted her lips.
“I do?” He asked, startled.
He looked down at himself and furrowed his brows. ‘Am I lean?’
He then chuckled. “Okay, I will.”
He collected the bag from her and got in the car.
Emily smiled and waved till the car was out of sight.
“Pshht” Michael chuckled in the car as stared at the lunchbox lying on the chair beside him.
He smiled. “That girl…”
Emily nodded her head satisfactorily and skipped happily into the lounge. She was still smiling when she heard slow, soft footsteps on the steps.
She took a peek at the stairway and gulped.
Without being told, she knew who was coming down the stairs. She knew who those soft, lazy-like footsteps belonged to-The Handsome God.
She froze on a spot and her smile vanished instantly.
Joel climbed down the stairs gracefully like he owned the world. When he got to the foot of the stairs, he flicked his hair.
He was dressed in a black tuxedo that had no rumple whatsoever, his hair was also styled to fall slightly above his brow bones.
An amazing cologne perfumed the air.
Emily gulped as she stared dreamily at the god before her. He was handsome.
“When you are done checking me out, leave the way.” Joel’s resounding voice brought Emily out of her fantasy.
She opened her mouth. “N-nde?”
“Move.” He twitched up his lips.
“Ahhh, yes.” She gulped and quickly moved out of the way.
Joel took long strides towards the door and stopped. He turned to face her.
“You, don’t you have anything you want to give to me?” He asked, staring intently at the girl.
“Ehn?… Ahhh, no.” She shook her head vigorously, her hands dancing in the air.
“Nothing?” He gazed at her coldly.
“…” She racked through her brain.
What could she possibly want to give to him?… Ahhh. She got it.
Emily turned and dashed to the kitchen. She had dropped that stuff there.
Joel smirked as he watched her run into the kitchen.
He had seen her pack lunchboxes for his brother and Little Pumpkin. So, she was going to give him too.
He bit his lip happily. But his smile soon turned into a frown, as he watched blankly, as the girl climbed down the three steps that led to the kitchen with no lunchbox in hand.
“Here.” Emily stretched out the face mask she had removed from Little Pumpkin’s face the previous night.
“Mbo?” Joel blinked his eyes rapidly.
“Your… mask.” She bobbed her head.
His face darkened as he looked at the girl before him. He bit his lip, and without saying a word, he opened the door and strolled over to his car.
Emily stood still on a spot. The handsome god was very angry but she didn’t know what she said or did that made him that way.
She huffed and walked up to the kitchen.
She found a stool and sat on it. She stared keenly at the third lunchbox she prepared.
Thank God she didn’t give him that, he’d have found it annoying and poured the food all over her body.
Emily shuddered at the thought. She carried the lunchbox and headed to her room. The food shouldn’t waste, you know…
???
Joel looked out through the tinted window as his chauffeur drove him to work.
He balled up his fist as he recalled what happened earlier.
So that girl didn’t prepare a lunchbox for him…
He squeezed his fist more tightly, his knuckles almost popping out of his hand.
“Sir, we have arrived.” The chauffeur announced, bringing him out of his thought.
Joel looked up and stepped out of the car.
Immediately, his assistant came running towards him.
“Good morning Boss.” Noah greeted.
Joel ignored him and cleared his throat as they walked into the building. “Speak.”
“Boss, you have a meeting with the board members in five minutes. Everyone is already waiting in the conference room.” Noah smiled as he trailed after his boss.
“Cancel it.” Joel blurted out.
“Mbo?” Noah grimaced as he pressed a button on the CEO’s private elevator and it slid open.
He watched as his boss’s back stiffened.
“Ahhh, ye.” Noah quickly crossed out the meeting.
Joel stepped into the elevator and Noah quickly got in with him before his boss would change his mind and make him go through the stairs.
“There’s also an appointment with Minister Lee.” Noah read out the next schedule.
“Cancel it.” Joel tapped his shoe on the floor, waiting impatiently for the elevator to arrive at the top floor-his office.
“Ahhh, ye.” Noah canceled it.
“Boss, there’s also a ball…” He twitched up his lips.
“Cancel it.”
The elevator finally slid open and Joel walked out of it.
“Nde.” Noah groaned.
“There’s supposed to be a meeting with Empire World’s entertainment team, I’m canceling it.” He frowned as he trailed closely behind his boss.
Joel stopped in his tracks.
A mischievous smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth.
“Leave it.” He resumed walking leisurely.
“Yes Sir.” Noah grinned.
“Boss, Globals are at it again.” He pouted as he trailed after his boss.
