“You?” Lindsey blinked her eye trying to get the piece together. “What are you doing here?” Lindsey asked surprised. Williams sneered walking towards his seat. He shakes his head vigorously wondering what she was doing there. After she ran out of his room the other night, he never thought he would see her again even though he wished he would.
“Why would you be asking me that? I think that should be my line, not yours” Williams said now sitting. Lindsey rolled her eyes, were they in a movie set or a fairytale story? Why would he be talking about lines? “I’m serious, what are you doing here?” Lindsey paused as something hit her. “Are you stalking me?” She blurted making Williams burst into a peal of uncontrollable laughter.
Lindsey sat patiently waiting for him to get done with his laughter and answer her question. “You got to be kidding me, why would I be doing such a thing?” Williams said in between laughter. “I work here as a volunteer doctor, I come from time to time to check on the patient here and truth be told, I wasn’t expecting to see you at all” Williams said. Lindsey inhaled deeply, she remembered clearly when nurse Tessy mentioned a volunteer doctor who had visited but why would it be Williams of all doctors in the world?.
“So your turn, what are you doing here?” Williams asked. Lindsey gave him a short look accessing his facial expression “how was she going to explain to him that she came to run a pregnancy test? What if she ends up being pregnant would he reject or accept it?”
“Are you okay?” Williams asked snapping her out of her thought. Lindsey blinked an eye flashing him a weak smile. “Ahem, I came to run a pre_” Lindsey swallowed hard. “Did something happen the other night at the hotel?” Lindsey asked. William frowned staring at her “something like what?” He asked. Lindsey stared at him, was he trying to play dumb with her? “I mean, like something something, like did something happen_” the laughter from Williams cut Lindsey’s words. She sat still watching him laugh, it wasn’t funny to her and she didn’t appreciate the fact that Williams was finding it funny.
“Are you asking me if we had sex?” Williams asked and Lindsey gave him the yes look. “Hell no, why would you even think of such?” Williams asked. “Why would I think of such?” Lindsey couldn’t believe she was actually hearing those words from him. “I woke up with my cloth off my body and you are asking me why I would think of such?” Lindsey blurted. Williams sighed “I removed the cloth because it was soaked with whiskey and your vomit” Williams stared at her wondering if she actually remembered what happened. For her to talk like that, there was at least a sixty per cent possibility that she didn’t.
“My vomit?” Lindsey stuttered. “She didn’t” Williams muttered. “Hmm, you threw up on me immediately after we arrived in my room, I had to take the cloth off you because I figured out it might be uncomfortable for you to sleep and I slept on the couch in the living room,” Williams said emphasizing the last part. “I didn’t take you to your room because I didn’t know your room number” he added clarifying himself.
Lindsey felt ashamed and embarrassed, did she actually throw up on him?. “I’m sorry, I didn’t realize I did that,” Lindsey said in a whisper feeling very ashamed. “No problem, but why did you run off that day, I thought you remember that was why you ran away,” Williams said. “Oh, I got a call from my husband,” Lindsey said. “You have a husband?” Williams sounded very surprised making Lindsey raise a brow at her. Who didn’t know she was the almighty Keith Winslow’s wife?
“You know, you are the first that doesn’t seem to know who I am, I thought I was famous enough that I have to skip the introductory part, besides I thought I have introduced myself before,” Lindsey said. “Sorry about that but I’m not the social media type and I don’t follow news unrelated to my work, and when you introduced yourself you didn’t add your marital status,” Williams said. “You seem to take your work very seriously, good for you,” Lindsey said. Williams stared at her wondering what she meant by that. “I’m Mr. Keith Winslow’s Wife,” Lindsey said.
“Oh my God, you are Keith’s wife,” Williams asked. “I assume you know my husband?” Lindsey asked. “Yes back from grade school but we haven’t seen for years now and I didn’t pay close attention to your surname the other night,” Williams said. “That’s nice, since we are clear, I need the pregnancy test now,” Lindsey said. “I just told you a few minutes ago that nothing happened” Williams stared at her. “Yes but I still need to be sure, I have been getting some symptoms lately, I need to double-check,” Lindsey said. “Okay, if you say so,” Williams said.
A few minutes later, everything was done and the result came out negative just like William has expected it to be.
“You spent quite a lot of time in there,” Joyce said as they headed to the Lindsey event company. “Hmm, the doctor was an old acquaintance of mine so we had a lot of catching up to do,” Lindsey said. She was now relieved, thank goodness Williams was gentleman enough not to take advantage of her drunk state. “Oh, that’s good, I spoke with the nurse while you were inside the doctor’s office, you should really help them. It would speak good of you and a good advantage to your public status” Joyce said and Lindsey nodded sparing her a glance. “Just do whatever you want,” she said. “I will inform the chairwoman so she would approve of the donation,” Audrey said as they pulled up in front of the company. Mr. Oliver parked carefully at Lindsey’s personal parking slot before they alighted from the car.
“Your sisters are in your office” Ashley shoots Lindsey a worried look. “Sisters?” Lindsey noticed the use of the plural in her sentence. “Miss. Nancy and Mrs. Tamarah” Lindsey halt hearing the last name. She hasn’t seen Tamarah in years after the odd incident with her husband, she didn’t even attend her wedding and Lindsey knew she did that out of spite but meeting her again would be very awkward for her. “Why?” Lindsey managed to ask. “They weren’t satisfied with Jessica’s services and they demanded to see you, I tried to explain to them that it won’t be possible since you are hardly available but they still insisted on waiting,” Ashley said.
Lindsey rolled her eyes, they were here for trouble and she knew that. “Call Jessica into my office, in fact just call in all the team leaders from the design department now,” Lindsey ordered walking into her office while Joyce walked behind her. Joyce helped her open the door and she walked into her office. Just like expected she meet her two step sisters in her office.
She stood still staring deeply into Tamarah’s eyes, for a while there was silence as they both stare at each other. “Longest time step sister,” Tamarah said breaking the silence, she had a smile plastered on her face which appeared more to be a mockery smile.
“Hi,” Lindsey said walking to her seat. She sat down and looked at them as if waiting for them to say whatever they came to say. “You are becoming more scarce as the day goes by or are you doing this intentionally?” Nancy asked and Lindsey scoffed. “I do not know what you are talking about, but if you have a job you would know that time is money and I have much more important things to do than sit all day idle,” Lindsey said.
Nancy and Tamarah glanced at each other “Are you calling me jobless?” Nancy asked. “Aren’t you jobless, prove me wrong?” Lindsey said, just then the door cracked open and Jessica alongside three others. “Oh, there you are,” Lindsey said acknowledging their presence. Nancy and Tamarah both looked at them and then back at Lindsey. Things weren’t going as they plan and Lindsey was just acting too faster than they had expected.
“I was informed by my assistant Ashley that you have rejected Jessica’s services so you can just choose between Noah, Stella and James who you would want to your planner,” Lindsey said pointing at each of them as she called their name. Nancy scoffed surprised “you got to be kidding me, did you forget what we discussed over the phone, I want you to be my planner and not them” Nancy snapped making Lindsey chuckle.
“Sorry, that ain’t gonna happen, dear, I’m too busy to do that” Lindsey said. “Too busy, do you know how many better event planners I had to ignore just to patronize you huh?” Nancy asked. “Then go back to them, who knows they would give you what you want,” Lindsey said making Tamarah and Nancy glance at each other. “You are becoming prideful, it’s good you are married, at least I wouldn’t need to fear that you would take my husband from me,” Tamarah said making Nancy snicker.
Lindsey paused thinking of what to say, she knew they wanted to make jest of them and she wouldn’t let them succeed. “Am glad you think that way Tamarah,” Lindsey said turning to Nancy. “I can’t plan your wedding, I have another company to run and I won’t have time for that so you can get yourself a new planner from another company or work with the one I have provided for you,” Lindsey said standing up to leave, she had come because Ashley gave her an emergency call.
“I need to go, I have somewhere to be right about now, speak to Ashley when you make your decision and we would try our best to offer the best service to you,” Lindsey said shifting her gaze from Nancy to Tamarah. “My regards to your husband, it was nice meeting you again Tamarah,” Lindsey said intentionally mentioning Tamarah’s husband to her.
