Lindsey walked out with a big smile on her face, she never thought she would be able to stand up for herself in front of Tamarah after the scandal with her husband but now not only did she stand up for herself but she also kept them in their place. Now she has to deal with the fact she sent greetings to her husband.
An hour later, Mr. Oliver pulled up in front of Georgina’s villa. Lindsey had called Georgina after she left the hospital informing her that the test results were out, she had wanted to tell her the outcome over the phone but Georgina instructed her to meet her at home that way, it would be a private and no reporter would put up stupid stories.
Mr. Oliver waited outside while Lindsey and Joyce went into the villa to meet with the chairwoman. Lindsey behold the faces of Cynthia and Mr. Pete Winslow immediately after she walked in. They appeared to be in a very serious and perhaps secret conversation but immediately they saw her, they shoot each other a glance before looking at her, giving her the what are you doing here kind of look.
“Hi,” Lindsey said not knowing how else to greet them. The last time she came there was after the engagement with Keith and even though she didn’t meet Cynthia, she meet Mr. Pete and he didn’t give him a welcome vibe at all.
“I’m here to see mother, she asked me to meet her here,” Lindsey said but all she got from them was a snicker from Cynthia, Mr. Pete didn’t even care to say a word to her, that was no way to welcome your daughter-in-law.
Lindsey raised her brow suspiciously at Cynthia, she had known her to be a troublemaker after she approached her two days ago to intimidate her but she thought Cynthia would now respect her since she would be her boss at work. “I will see you later, I need to run along now and get ready for my disastrous days of working with an amateur,” Cynthia said grabbing her bags. Mr. Pete gave her a warm smile which came as a surprise to Lindsey, he never smiled at her, oh he gives that to people who really need it. “Take care of yourself okay, my regards to Francis,” Mr. Pete said while she stood up. “I will do just that,” Cynthia said before turning towards Lindsey who was still standing not far from the door.
She walked towards the door but stopped when she got to where Lindsey was standing. She had a smirk plastered on her face as she stared at her from hair to toe and shake her head vigorously, “Enjoy it while it lasts, not all girls get this kind of golden opportunity given to them in a platter of gold,” Cynthia said in a whisper hoping that it would only go across Lindsey’s ears but her voice was kind of a pitch high to be called a whisper because Joyce heard her, so did Mr. Pete.
“See you around,” Cynthia said knowing quite well she would see Lindsey more often since she now works under her, something she never expected or dreamt of it happening. Lindsey looked at the door where Cynthia had just walked away with mixed feelings, she didn’t know what to make out of what she just said. She knew that Cynthia and Mr. Pete were in a conversation before she entered and her presence ended the conversation, she didn’t even read much meaning into it when they both stopped speaking because of her, neither of them liked her so it was normal for them not to want to talk in her presence to avoid interference or her chipping into the conversation but now with Cynthia’s words Lindsey was worried about what they were actually discussing before she walked in.
“The chairwoman must be on her way home now, you can just wait for her,” Mr. Pete said in a hoarse voice as he headed upstairs. Lindsey stared at him for a while and before she could open her mouth to call for his attention, the door cracked open and Georgina walked in.
“Oh, my God darling, why are you standing, come sit down,” Georgina said urging Lindsey to seat. Lindsey smiled at her before seating down. “Thank you,” she said still smiling. “Let me tell you something, this house belongs to you, you have an equal right to it and you don’t have to act or behave like a guest whenever you are here, feel free okay,” Georgina said and Lindsey nodded her head without saying anything.
Georgina signalled Joyce and Bianca to give them some privacy which they did immediately. “So, how was the test,” Georgina asked looking so excited. Lindsey glanced at her and seeing the excitement on her face, she knew Georgina was expecting the result to come out positive and she can’t imagine the disappointment she would feel when she finds out it was negative.
“I just have a fever, and must have eaten a little bit too much in dinner,” Lindsey said trying so hard to sugarcoat it but Georgina frowned. “Then you should work towards it, remember I said it would be a plus to you and who knows Keith might decide to end the contract and marry you for real,” Georgina said. Lindsey nodded her head fighting the urge to tell her that her expectations weren’t going to come to reality. She and Keith were bad at being a fake couple and would definitely make a terrible couple if they dare marry. “I will put that into consideration,” Lindsey said.
“While you are at it, you need to show Cynthia and Vanessa who the young Mrs. Winslow is,” Georgina paused for a while shifting her gaze from Lindsey into the thin air staring at nothing. “I wouldn’t be there all the time to protect you so you need to stand up for yourself, you got lucky today Keith supported you but he won’t be with you all the time, he has other things to do so you need to sit upright and take in charge of the Winslow conglomerate, the board of directors already thinks you incompetent and aren’t up to the task thanks to Cynthia but you have to show them that you are capable and competent by making sure Ragusang Bio and Ragusang gallery and Warris likewise Dior events take at least a step up in the business ladder, if you fail to do that, you would be tagged the incompetent vice president and I’m sure you wouldn’t want that to happen,” Georgina said now shifting her gaze to her.
“Sorry but you didn’t mention Dior events at the board meeting,” Lindsey managed to ask.
“Yes, it’s your event planning company, I picked out a more catchy and professional name for it unlike Lindsey’s events which sound a little bit off and weird, I sent an email to Ashley a few minutes ago after the conclusion was made between me and the new investors so they name would take effect soon once every document is in the name,” Georgina said. Lindsey wanted to say something but Georgina was fast enough to cut her words even before she said them.
“You still have full right over it Lindsey, I’m not trying to claim ownership of it, what I’m doing is called rebranding, relaunching and that’s exactly what your company needs, I got a few investors and I bought a bigger location for your company because you would be needing more planners and more offices. Trust me, Lindsey, once you prove yourself to the business world, no matter how little, they are going to appreciate that and you would have top clients, elites and celebrities coming for you to plan their conferences, wedding, birthday, and concert you name them and how do you prove yourself to them by showing them that you are competent, capable, let them know your worth and know you are the best vice president Winslow conglomerate would ever have, show them all these in a year by making Dior Events come up to the top hundred event planning company in the world and perhaps top fifty in New York City, Ragusang Bio and Ragusang gallery and Warris already have a fine position but it won’t be a bad idea if they take two to three steps up with you in charge” Georgina said staring deeply into her eyes
Lindsey gulped hard becoming scared, when she signed the contract, she just thought she would just sit there as this wife and do absolutely nothing, she never thought she would attend meetings, become the vice president of the second-ranking conglomerate and now have to lead three companies up the business ladder, her event planning business wasn’t even listed as the top hundred event planning company in the world and she never bordered about it as long as it put food on her table and helped her settle her debt one after the other, bit by bit she didn’t care at all and now Georgina was talking about it her doing everything in a year, she felt overwhelmed and scared she was going to fail.
“I don’t think I would be able to run a company, I appreciate the change of name and I would take it but I’m not sure if I could do all these things I_”
“Don’t say such a thing” Georgina shushed her even before she could complete her sentence. “You have a first-class degree in business administration and management, you have Joyce who graduated as the best student in business school, Ashley has a second-class upper in business education and is an excellent Assistant and you have me, with all these I say you would achieve that in six months, all you need to do is get acquaintance with the employee and work hard, I would always be here to help and assist you,” Georgina said.
Lindsey nodded her head, “thanks and I would really appreciate that help and assistance,” Lindsey said. “You don’t have to worry, I’m always here for you, and remember, don’t let anyone walk over you especially Cynthia and Vanessa okay,” Georgina said. “Okay,” Lindsey said nodding her head. She immediately figured out that there was a war going on between Georgina and her two daughters-in-law, she didn’t know the reason and surprisingly she didn’t care to know, Georgina was definitely the winning team and she was in the winning team besides she has lots of things to worry about at the moment.
