Lindsey listened to the ringtone as she waited eagerly for Georgina to answer her call, a few minutes later, the call connected. “Hi ma’am, I saw_”. “Why didn’t you tell me about Keith?” Georgina said in a hoarse tone which made Lindsey a bit nervous. “About Keith? I don’t really understand,” Lindsey said each word slowly as if she was still learning how to speak. “Don’t even get started Lindsey, I called Keith and he told me he already left Paris, why didn’t you tell me” Lindsey bit her lower lips thinking of what to tell Georgina, she knew quite well Keith had a good relationship with his mother and she didn’t want to come in-between.
“He got an urgent call, I was the one that told him to go attend to it,” Lindsey said after a long thought, she decided to take the blame, it wouldn’t do her any harm. There was silence for a while as she waited for Georgina to say something but after a while, the beep call came, and the call ended just like that.
Georgina stared at her phone, her mind was blank as she didn’t know if Lindsey was saying the truth or was just covering up for Keith. She had called her earlier to give her a good scolding but now, she just couldn’t after hearing what she said. Georgina inhaled deeply placing a call on an unknown number, the call connected immediately. “Hi, longest time,” the caller from the order end said, Georgina could sense the excitement in his voice and raised her brow, she wasn’t in the mood for any sort of greeting. “I need an urgent favour from you,” Georgina said relaxing on the couch.
“Go ahead, anything for you” Georgina inhaled deeply before she started “I need the phone call history of my son, Keith, don’t worry about the pay, I will give you double after everything is settled,” Georgina said as she listened to what GE had to say, she nodded her head and smiled. “Very well then, I would be waiting,” Georgina said and the call ended. She stared into thin air and muttered, “Let it better not be what I’m thinking Keith, if so then you are dead meat”.
Lindsey turned to Miguel after the call ended and flashed him a half smile “that was_”
“I know who called you, it was obvious,” Miguel said cutting her words short. “Okay,” Lindsey said almost in a whisper. The silence again enveloped the car this time around it was short as it wasn’t long before Miguel pulled off in front of the Royal hotel. “Thank you for yesterday, I really appreciate it,” Lindsey said. “It’s nothing, you were my guest and I ought to make sure you are safe,” Miguel said smiling. Lindsey returned the smile before turning to open the door.
“Erm, don’t forget to check your schedule for tomorrow morning,” Miguel said reminding her about what he had told her earlier. “Hmm, I will check that and don’t worry I would text you,” Lindsey said. “You don’t have my number do you?” Miguel asked staring into her eyes. Lindsey fluttered her leashes getting uncomfortable by the way Miguel was staring at her. “Here is mine, you can just call or text me,” Lindsey said hurriedly and wrote her number down in the booklet in his car before she alighted from the car. She didn’t even bother to look back to know if he was still there or not.
Miguel stared at her figure and a smile spread across his lips. He looked down at the number when she was out of sight and his eyes glittered. “That wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be,” Miguel said. He picked up his phone to dial the number but was interrupted by an incoming call. “Hi bro” Miguel smirked at the excited voice he heard. “The last I checked, you said you weren’t going to call me again, right?” Miguel asked driving out of the hotel, he heard him laugh so hard and shook his head vigorously wondering what was so funny.
“Don’t be like that, I have missed you like really missed you so I decided to call and you know to check up on you” Lawrence said. Lawrence was Miguel’s childhood friend. They were best of friends to the extent that people even called them twins, the ML twins.
“It has just been two weeks but I don’t know, should I be glad that you miss me or upset, gosh I feel so scared” Miguel teased and Lawrence burst into another laughter. Miguel couldn’t help but join him, after a while the laughter subsided and they continued with their discussion. They haven’t spoken to each other in two weeks after their little friendship misunderstanding so they had a lot of catching up to do.
Miguel must have said something to make Lawrence gasp “Holy crab, you better be careful Miguel, you should know you are digging your own grave,” Lawrence said over the phone. “My grave and who is going to push me into it, Keith?” Miguel said, Keith was more of a church rat to him and there was nothing he could do to him.
“The Winslow family would cut off your neck, leave her alone she’s married,” Lawrence said. “Oh is she?” Miguel asked feigning ignorance. Lawrence rolled his eyes “You just told me that, and I even saw pictures of her and Keith online so yeah she is married” Lawrence said and Miguel nodded his head. “Let me worry about that, besides she’s a friend to me,” Miguel said and Lawrence chuckled loudly. “Friend indeed, you are still on bad terms with him right?” Lawrence asked and Miguel smiled. “I don’t even know why he’s angry, I should be the one angry and not him but I have decided to let go of everything so he’s on bad terms with himself and not me,” Miguel said.
“Gosh, I have a bad feeling about this Miguel, I think you should stop now it isn’t too late,” Lawrence said trying so hard to convince Miguel.
“I think I would talk to you later, Bye Best friend,” Miguel said and ended the call even before Lawrence could say anything. He drive into his hostel and made to dial Lindsey’s number but after a quick thinking, he decided to text her. “Hi, it’s me Miguel Flyheart” Miguel decided to keep it simple and short to not overwhelm her.
He alighted from his car and walked into the hotel heading straight into his room, few minutes after he entered his room, his phone beeped and he picked it up, it was a text from Lindsey “Oh hi, I already saved your number, thanks again for yesterday and I hope you returned to your hotel safely” Miguel smiled reading the text, he starts down typing “yeah I did, so have you checked your schedule, even if you aren’t free we could reschedule for noon or evening” Miguel pressed the send button and waited eagerly for her to respond, a message popped up almost immediately, it was from Lindsey. “Yeah tomorrow afternoon would be great, I have a charity event to attend, Grandfather specifically instructed that we must attend and since Keith isn’t here, I have to go myself, but I’m not sure when it would end” Miguel’s facial expression changed, he was neither sad nor happy, he was just in-between, he inhaled deeply readings Lindsey’s message. After a couple of minutes, he came up with the best response “Oh, a charity event, I wouldn’t mind joining you since I’m totally free tomorrow, why don’t I come and pick you up tomorrow, what’s the time?” Miguel prayed secretly that she doesn’t turn down his harmless request. Soon, a message popped up but it wasn’t from Lindsey, he snarled tapping his feet on the ground as he waited patiently for her message but after twenty minutes he didn’t get anything.
He stood up pacing around the room, he thought of sending another message to her but kicked against it, and just then her message came in. “You don’t have to worry, I can drive and I don’t want to stress you too much, thanks anyways for offering” Miguel stared at the message thinking of how best to convince her but his mind just went blank, he thought for a while until he got an idea “it’s a charity event and I’m sure they would be doing some fundraising, just let me join you and support them in any way I can” He pressed the send button with a smile on his face, he knew there was no way she would say no to him this time around. Minutes later, another message popped up, “Okay, if you say so, the event starts by 9:00 am and it focused on the helpless and the needy, they would be needing a lot of funds” Miguel smiled and sent the last message “9:00 am, perfect I will pick you up at 8:30 am”.
Lindsey dropped her phone after sending the last message to Miguel, she stood up and walked towards the refrigerator to get herself a drink but then her phone beeped which made her hurry back to the lounge where she had kept it, she read Miguel’s text and nodded her head, and texted him back with an okay. She didn’t see any reason why she shouldn’t go with him, even though she had thought he was staring at her unusually in the car but she might be wrong, Miguel was aware she was married, he even knows her husband so he wouldn’t try to flirt with her.
She opened her drink taking a sip while logging into Netflix to watch some movies.
