Lindsey hastened her steps strolling away from Sharon. She looked around getting worried and impatient as she looked around for her chauffeur. She grabbed her phone from her purse and made to call him but then she remembered she didn’t take his number earlier after he had assured her that he would stick around the venue.
Lindsey inhaled deeply cursing at him and blaming herself for believing his crock lie. Who was she supposed to call now? she didn’t know anyone in Paris and don’t even know how far her hostel was from the venue. She fluttered her lashes clicking on the Google map, at least the internet has made it easy for them, even if she didn’t know what to do but she still decided to know how far she was from her hostel.
“Stranded?” Miguel asked staring at her, just as usual, he had his charming and breathtaking smile plastered on his face and Lindsey couldn’t help being mesmerized by it. “I can’t find my chauffeur,” Lindsey said shifting her gaze from him back to her phone. After her decision with Miguel a few hours ago before the event started, she had become very free with him and regarded him as a friend who she wouldn’t mind keeping. “I can drop you off, you don’t have to worry about that”. Lindsey felt a light of hope shine on her immediately after she heard Keith’s voice, it didn’t occur to her that Keith would be able to help “That would be great” she quickly jumped into the offer. To Lindsey, that wasn’t the time to form Porch or act as if she didn’t need any help because she needed it and aside from Keith, she wasn’t sure if she would be getting it from anybody else.
“I will get my car,” Miguel said walking to the other side of the garage. Lindsey stood patiently waiting for him while she kept watching others enter their car and left. A few minutes later, Miguel pulled up in front of her and she entered the car before he zoomed off.
“Where are you heading to?” Miguel asked, his eyes fixed on the room. “The Royals hostel” Lindsey answered quickly as if she had been waiting for him to pop up the big question. “I doubt if that would be possible, the estate gate is closed already,” Miguel said sparing her a glance before shifting his gaze to the road. “But they are aware I want out for this event, they should have made an exception,” Lindsey said not convinced. “The event lasted longer than expected, I guess that was why your chauffeur left without you, should I take you to another hotel?” Miguel asked. Lindsey stared at him for a while without saying anything, she pressed her phone power button lighting up the phone to check the time, it was thirty minutes past two am in the morning “Yes, but just for a few hours, once it’s daybreak, I would return to mine” Lindsey said. Miguel nodded his head in approval without saying anything. A few minutes later, he pulled up in front of New Cape hotel, he parked carefully at the garage before alighting from the car alongside Lindsey.
“Don’t worry, I lodged in here so they are good and they offer top-notch service?” Miguel said but Lindsey didn’t say anything other than smile. They walked into the hotel and after a couple of minutes, Lindsey was handed over her room key just three rooms away from Miguel’s room. “Thank you,” Lindsey said to the receptionist before walking towards the elevator.
Lindsey smiled going around the room, it was similar to her hotel just a few slight differences. “Seems like all French have the same taste,” Lindsey said walking around the room. She slumped into the bed very exhausted and she didn’t even care about showering or having a change of cloth. All she needed was a good sleep to replenish her lost energy.
A smile spread across Georgina’s lips as she watched Lindsey’s event interview “I knew I wouldn’t regret having her as a daughter-in-law” Georgina said excited about Lindsey’s idea of keeping her and Keith’s marriage of the internet, that way even if they end up divorcing it wouldn’t create so many headlines and destroy their families perfect name.
But then the smile on her face gradually drifted away “Why didn’t Keith join her for the event?” Georgina asked no one in particular. She was the only one in her study room so everything she was saying could be heard by her alone. “He’s not on good terms with Miguel, isn’t that enough reason”. “No, I don’t think so, why did he have to allow his wife to attend? Keith would never do such”. “Or maybe they had their first couple fight and Lindsey insisted to attend the party”. “What if the worst has happened, and they come home with their divorce?”
Those were the conversation between Georgina and her subconscious, she was almost falling for her subconscious trick but then she slowed down a bit shaking her head vigorously. She inhaled deeply deciding to call Lindsey and find out herself what was wrong but after the fifth ring, Georgina gave up and then called Keith’s number who answered his phone on the fifth ring
“Hi mum,” Keith said immediately after the call connected. “Are you sick” Keith raised a brow wondering why she was asking him that “Why? Do I sound sick?” Keith asked pausing the file he was reading now engrossed in his conversation with his mother. “I was just wondering why you don’t follow Lindsey to_”
“I left Paris for something urgent and important” Keith didn’t let Georgina complete her statement, he had seen Lindsey’s video and was aware his mother would probably call him to ask him questions concerning it. “Left Paris?” Georgina couldn’t wrap her head around what he said. Was he trying to say he left his wife all alone on their honeymoon, what could be more important than his wife? “Are you crazy Keith, what are you blabbing about? Left Paris, tell me you are joking” Georgina said stunned. She heard Keith chuckle over the phone and it made her angry, her anger began to boil to the highest level when she heard the beep sound. Keith hung up on him.
“You got to be kidding me” Georgina stared at her phone confused and angry. She tried calling Keith again but he wasn’t picking up his call. She dialled Lindsey’s number but got no response from her. “Why aren’t they picking up their calls?” Georgina yelled tossing her phone aside angrily.
Lindsey woke up feeling energetic, she smiled at herself stealing a peep at the wall clock “oh my gosh” Lindsey was shocked to see how far the time has gone, it was ten in the morning. She got up from the bed and in under thirty minutes, she was done with her morning routine, changing into the new set of clothes she saw in the room. She grabbed her phone and headed outside the room
“Glad you are finally awake,” Miguel said walking up to her, he had been checking up on her at intervals to know when she would wake up. Lindsey turned to her and smiled, yesternight wasn’t like the night with Williams which she didn’t remember anything, she clearly remember all that happened. Thinking about Williams, her mind raced recalling the incident “Gosh, I better go get myself checked before it’s too late” she muttered fluttering her lashes. “Good Morning sorry I slept in, I was really exhausted” Lindsey apologize as they both walked into the elevator. “It’s nothing, the dress looks good on you by the way,” Miguel said admiring her with his lips twitched in a smile. “Thanks, did you buy it?” Lindsey asked. “I realized you would need a change of cloth, it’s nothing” Miguel sparing her a glance. “Let’s grab something to eat before I drop you off, I’m famished,” Miguel added as they stepped out of the elevator and were already making their way to the restaurant.
A few minutes later, they were done with breakfast and were now on their way to Lindsey’s hotel, the ride was unusually quiet and it made Miguel uncomfortable. “Are you free tomorrow?” Miguel asked breaking the silence, he figured out that if he didn’t do so, Lindsey wouldn’t bother to do so herself. “Why?” Lindsey asked. “Nothing, I was just wondering if we could go ice riding, there would be a lot of fun things there to try out,” Miguel asked, he was enjoying Lindsey’s company and wanted to spend much more time with her.
“Tomorrow,” Lindsey grabbed her phone to check her schedule “I’m not sure if I’m free but l_” she paused seeing the numerous calls. “What the heck” Miguel glanced at her surprised. “Is anything the matter?” He asked looking from her to the road at intervals. Lindsey didn’t say a word to him, she just flashed him a half smile before returning Georgina’s calls wondering why she had given her lots of missed calls.
