“That was a good speech out there” Lindsey lifted her face to stare at the owner of the voice only to meet a familiar face. Miguel Flyheart, the same very person her husband had told her not to be friends with since he was his enemy, Lindsey couldn’t help but wonder why he wasn’t on good terms with Keith, she was too angry to ask Keith when he brought up the conversation and when she asked Miguel, he weaved it aside as a long boring story.
For a moment, Lindsey was dazed at him, he looked elegant and everything about him seemed perfect and harmless from his smile which displayed his dimples to his suit and body features. “Mrs. Winslow, Are you okay,” Miguel asked giving her a weird look. Lindsey gulped hard flashing him a fake smile, her mind already went to dirty things which were unhealthy for a married woman to imagine especially having a man who wasn’t her husband in such images.
“I wasn’t expecting to see you here,” Lindsey said ignoring his first question, she didn’t want to talk about it and wanted to enjoy the event without Keith ruining it for her. “Oh, I was actually expecting you here likewise your husband,” Miguel said not willing to drop the question. “You were?” Lindsey raised a brow at him. “Hmm, I owe this winery so I added your name and that of your husband to the invite list,” Miguel said and Lindsey nodded her head mouthing an ohh. She knew Miguel was rich but she never imagined he was into wines, she thought it was just vehicles and real estate. “That’s new” Lindsey commented. “I know right, I allow my friend to run it since he’s an expert when it comes to wine” Miguel paused when a servant approached carrying a tray with glasses of wine. “Do you want a glass?” Miguel asked sparing her a look enough to authenticate her facial expression. Lindsey smiled and nodded her head.
“Thank you,” she said after collecting the glass of wine from Miguel. She took a sip and smiled. “Did your husband know you came?” The smile spread on Lindsey’s lips drifted away and her face stiffed, why was everyone so interested in Keith today? “No_” she blurted, she didn’t find a reason to lie to him besides he was an elite and the organizer of the event so he wouldn’t go to the reporters blabbing about her and Keith, that would just ruin his event.
“I thought as much” Miguel said before sipping his wine. “Why? Do you think he wouldn’t let me come if I had told him?” Lindsey asked but all Miguel did was smile. “Perhaps, since we aren’t best of friends,” Miguel said still smiling while looking at her. Unknown to the both of them, a reporter by the name of Sharon from Kuchar Blogspot had been staring at her, obviously interested in them and she took secret pictures of them smiling together while they were discussing.
“Don’t you think it’s time to tell me this long boring story?” Lindsey asked. “Hmm, I don’t think so, the event is about to start so I wouldn’t be able to finish even if I start and I don’t want to keep you in suspense,” Miguel said making Lindsey snicker. “Really, that was a good excuse,” Lindsey said. “So where did you tell him you were going to, I don’t mean to barge into your affairs with your husband but you both are on your honeymoon and I wouldn’t leave my wife to go anywhere without me, especially at night,” Miguel said and Lindsey flashed him a stiff smile thinking of how best to answer his question. “Actually, he’s no longer in Paris,” Lindsey said keeping it all short.
Miguel who was about to sip his wine before Lindsey dropped the words froze, he could feel the sadness and loneliness in her voice and knew instantly that she wasn’t happy with Keith’s departure. He glanced at her and saw her staring into thin air as she waits for him to speak. “He returned to New York for business?” Miguel asked deciding not to make her feel any worse, he was going to cheer her up to the best of his abilities. “Hmm, so he said. I guess it must have been very important for him to leave,” Lindsey said and smiled. “It must be, anyways do you_”
The host of the event spoke cutting Miguel’s words as she invited all the guests into the main event hall. Miguel smiled at Lindsey “I will see you later” Miguel said standing up, he was the CEO which meant that his attention was needed at the event so he couldn’t seat and keep chatting with her. “Okay, thanks for keeping me company,” Lindsey said. She watched him with a smile plastered on her face as he walked back to his reserved seat.
Reporter Sharon scoffed letting out an almost invisible smile “Is she already cheating on her husband?” Reporter Sharon asked staring deeply at Lindsey. She smiled as she thought of Lindsey being in a secret romance scandal barely a year after her marriage. Mrs. Georgina would definitely toss her aside and look for a more eligible wife for her son. “Do you think we have time to seat down and stare at rich people huh” Reporter Sharon was snapped of her thought by her senior. She was still an intern so she had a lot of people above her. “I’m sorry, I need to rest a bit, I have been standing all night and_”
“And I don’t want to hear it” Alice shushed her, she had a disgusting look on her face and it was obvious that Sharon wasn’t the best intern. “Your mates are working trying to get hot gist, Did you think we were nicknamed the world hot gist Blogspot by seating and lazing around, you better get your ass together and go find us exclusive newsworthy to make headlines and stun the internet for weeks if not more, we need to make money to pay you dummy and if you continue like this, I might just drop you at the end of your internship” Alice grumbled at her and walked out immediately without allowing her to defend herself.
Sharon chuckled staring at Alice’s figure as she walked away and then shifted her stay to her phone which had the picture of Miguel and Lindsey laughing. “Isn’t this enough to make headlines, I got a good spot while seating and lazing around” Sharon muttered shifting her gaze to Lindsey who channelled all her attention to the stage watching Miguel as he delivered his speech. Sharon scoffed, “something is going on and I’m going to find out,” she said.
She sat down not bothered to join others in getting highlights from the event to her, she had gotten her own event highlights and she wasn’t just yet ready to share them with anyone and whether Alice drops her or retains her at the end of her internship which was ending in a month time. She would still hit it big as a reporter if not for anything, the pictures she has would make every press company want to hire her and she might as well open her own press company.
Hours Later.
The event came to an end and the guests began to leave one after the other while the reporters tried to get a two minutes interview with them and also some pictures. Lindsey stood looking around praying she catch a glimpse of her chauffeur, the night was already far spent and she was very exhausted and needed a long good sleep. She had been excited when the hotel receptionist told her about the event, she thought it was going to be fun but no, she got the least of what she had expected. Perhaps that was the reason Keith hide these events from me, he must already know how boring they were. Lindsey wondered still scanning the environment with her eyes.
“Hi ma’am, for you mind if I ask you a couple of questions” Lindsey looked at the lady, she had a smile on her face but Lindsey wasn’t deceived by that smile. That was the same pattern of smile that had made her comfortable and relaxed with the host interviewer before she dropped the bombshell question. “I’m sorry but I’m very tired now” Lindsey declined politely, even though she didn’t want the interview but she still did not lie to the lady, she was truly tired. “Just three questions, I swear it’s not going to last for too long, I need it to get promoted at work,” She said. Lindsey stared at her and then at her work tag which read intern Sharon. Lindsey pitied her, she used to work at a press media even though her job description wasn’t that of going around looking for news but she knew the stress they had to go through. “Just three questions?” Lindsey asked just to verify her statement. “Yes. Thank you” Sharon said with a smile plastered on her face.
“Okay, the first question is, how did you enjoy the event?” Sharon asked. “It was good, they had goals and vision and if I’m to rate it, it would go with a hundred per cent,” Lindsey said. “It’s nice to know you enjoyed your first event as an elite and more importantly young Mrs. Winslow. So tell me, do you know Mr. Flyheart, you both seem to be very close” Sharon asked.
“He was a guest at my engagement party and was also invited to my wedding but couldn’t make it for my wedding so he’s a friend to the Winslow family,” Lindsey said making Sharon glance at her. Lindsey gave her an equivocal and ambiguous answer, she neither admitted to being close to Keith nor denied it. “The last question, rumour has it that your event planning company was in debt which was resolved after your marriage with Mr. Keith. Did you by any chance strike a deal with him” Sharon asked.
“A deal?” Lindsey asked, after taking care of the host interviewer she learnt something that most of the reporters go around with unverified news trying to force you into verifying it. “What do you mean by a deal?” She asked turning the table to her. “I’m just asking nothing more,” Sharon asked getting uncomfortable, the cameraman was live on Instagram prior Alice’s order and Sharon knew a single mistake would make her regret asking for the interview. “You are still an intern so I would advise you to start your career by working with verified news, yes my company was in debt but who said I striked a deal with my husband, you better watch it if not I would sue you,” Lindsey said, she wasn’t sure if she could do the last part but she had watched lots of movies and they always threatened to sue just to get people off their neck. “I’m sorry ma’am, and thanks for your time” Sharon said. Lindsey stared at her for a while before walking away.
Sharon scoffed staring at her as she walked towards the garage “Thanks for that advice, I would try and get my pieces of information verified my own way” Sharon twitched her lips in a half smile.
