She inhaled deeply and sat down before checking the message from the unknown private number. “You can try all you want, seduce him and even have a baby for you but the fact remains that I’m the one he will forever love and there’s nothing you or anyone can you about it. As far as I’m concerned you are just a fake contracted bride so don’t try to push the charade of a marriage you are in into something else bitch”
“What the_” Lindsey froze after reading the message, she couldn’t just wrap her head around the message. “I’m the one he will forever love….” Lindsey paused racking her brain. Keith doesn’t seem to have a girlfriend and she already ended things with her ex-boyfriend Chace. “No, it can’t be Chace” she shook her head vigorously taking Chace out of her thought, the message said marriage so it had to be Keith but who sent the message to her?
She dialled the number but it couldn’t connect, the owner must have blocked her contact from calling the number. She snarled and called Keith’s number but he didn’t pick up again. Lindsey glanced at the wall clock worried, it was already late and he ought to be back by now. She got up from her bed dialling Keith’s number again as she walked out of their suit to look for him.
A smile spread across Audrey’s lips as she reread the message she had sent to Lindsey “Bitch, I’m going to make sure you regret that charade of a marriage” Audrey muttered just then a call came into Keith’s phone and she quickly reached for it and silenced it. She glanced at Keith and meet him sleeping comfortably beside her and smiled. She glanced back at the phone and chuckled at the caller ID. “He isn’t coming to you tonight because he’s with me,” Audrey said and smiled before she switched off the phone and dropped it.
Lindsey glanced at her phone as the network provider recite their usual switch-off line. She frowned trying the number again but it was still the same thing. Lindsey scoffed wondering why the number that had been ringing all these while will suddenly become switched off. “Is he trying to mess with me?” Lindsey asked walking towards the bar.
“Welcome ma’am, what would you like to have?” The bar attendant asked, he had a big smile plastered on her face and Lindsey couldn’t help but smile back. “Erm, five-shot of tequila,” Lindsey said adjusting on her seat. “Okay,” the man said and turned to get her order. Lindsey looked around to know if she could get a glimpse of Keith, he didn’t tell her where he was heading to and when she asked, he totally ignored her as if she wasn’t there. After a while, the bar attendant called her attention to her orders “Oh thanks” Lindsey said and quickly gulped down all five shots all at once.
“Hope there isn’t any problem?” Lindsey turned towards the voice and meet a dark muscular man standing in front of her. He had a moustache which Lindsey thought was cute and his perfume was very strong and had a nice fragrance “Why? can’t a lady drink anymore?” Lindsey asked staring at him. Williams’ lips twitched in a smile as he walked towards the empty seat close to her. He sat down before turning to answer her question “I never said so, just that it’s not every day you see a pretty damsel sitting at a bat counter alone and taking five shots of tequila all at once, I almost thought you were in a drinking competition” Williams said and Lindsey chuckled. “Interesting, hope you’ve seen one today?” Lindsey asked still staring at him. “Yes, Thanks to you, I just saw one after a hundred years,” Williams said making Lindsey smile. “A hundred years huh?, Have you lived for that long?” She asked. “Hmm, I haven’t but I have read a lot of history books and I haven’t read about a lady gulping down five shots of tequila all at once but you know what, I’m working on a new book which in the nearest future would eventually get a spot as a history book in a history bookshelf and I promise to write about everything I just saw today in it,” Williams said and Lindsey nodded her head.
“I’m honoured to be featured in your work,” Lindsey said with a smile plastered on her face. “I’m Dr. William Mackle,” Williams said extending his hand for a handshake. “Lindsey Winslow,” Lindsey said, she felt kind of unusual using the Winslow surname. That was the first time she was introducing herself to someone as Lindsey Winslow and it did make her feel unusual and somehow uncomfortable. “Lindsey nice to meet you,” Williams said as they both shook their hand. “Nice to meet you too” Lindsey replied before they broke out of the handshake.
“Do you want to start a drinking competition with me? it’s going to make the story a lot more interesting when it’s been read in the future, you wouldn’t want to make people think you are a boring depressed old lady” Williams said as he signalled the bar attendant to come to him. “First of all, I’m not boring neither am I depressed nor old. Who knows you might be older than me” Lindsey said and Williams smiled “I was just joking with you, so are you in?” he asked staring at her. Lindsey stared at him for a while and her lips twitched in a half smile, she was good with tequila and could hold up to three bottles of tequila so there was no way Williams could win against her and she won’t be getting drunk. “Call, but we would do that with tequila,” Lindsey said and Williams smiled. “I never had any intentions of changing the drink,” he said.
The bar attendant first got the first set of the tequila and in less than five minutes Lindsey gulped down hers winning against Williams in the first round. The competition continued and they kept winning against each other until the twentieth round.
Lindsey could feel her eyes closing and her body system shutting down as she gulped down the tequila. She got to a point where she couldn’t take it anymore and raised her hand in surrender. Williams burst into laughter “You owe me a hundred dollars Lindsey” He said looking at her. His face furrowed noticing she was now drunk, what was he going to do with her, he didn’t know anything about her and had only met her at the bar. “Do you know her room number?” Williams asked the bar attendant but he shook his head negatively looking from Williams to Lindsey who was now sleeping at the bar counter. “Should I call the manager?” The bar attendant asked. Williams glanced at him and meet him staring at him, he thought for a while then shook his head. “You don’t have to do that, I would just take her to my suite, by tomorrow she’s going to wake up and find her way” Williams reassured the bar attendant. He paid for the drinks he and Lindsey took before he carried her to his suite.
The next morning, Lindsey smiled to herself as she opened her eyes, she stared at the curtain and noticed something different. The color of the curtain was different from the one she had in her room. She frowned getting up, she looked around noticing that everything was just different from the blanket to every other single thing in the room. “Where the hell am I?” Lindsey asked looking around. She turned sharply hearing the door open. She gulped hard waiting for the person to walk into the room. “Williams?” William smiled at her on hearing her voice but when he noticed the expression on her face the smile drifted away. “Good Morning, you are awake, finally,” Williams said. Lindsey stared at him, she remember starting a drinking competition with him but she didn’t remember entering his suite with him. “Did you?” Lindsey muttered as her mind flashed to naughty things that might have transpired between her and Williams. She was still thinking when her eyes caught her pyjama top which was hanging on the table. Her eyes opened widely as she stared at it before shifting her gaze to her body only to find herself putting on her half-cut. She gasped and lifted the duvet to see the rest of her body but then her pyjama trouser was missing.
“Is there any problem?” Williams asked noticing her expression. Lindsey stared at him. “A problem? you just had sex with a married woman on her honeymoon” Lindsey wanted to say but no words came out of her mouth when she opened it. She glanced at her hand and noticed that her wedding ring was missing, that was when it hit her, she had removed the ring to take her bath and forgot to put it back on after reading the stupid text she got from the unknown private number which got her worried and frustrated.
Lindsey closed her eyes gently and opened them almost immediately inhaling. She quickly reached for her phone to check the time but then she noticed twenty missed calls from Keith and ten from Audrey. “Holy crab” she jolted up from the bed and wore her clothes hurriedly before she ran out of the room without bothering to say anything to Williams.
Williams just stood in the corner staring at her without saying anything and after she left, he exhaled deeply shaking his head. “That was weird,”
