Book:Hundred Shades Of Love Published:2024-6-2

“You should better watch it, Mr. Winslow, if you push me too far, I’m going to be the death of you and your family,” Lindsey snickered imagining those and how Keith’s expression would be when she slaps him. “Didn’t you ask me to marry you, oh sorry, your family asked me to marry you” Lindsey snapped and rolled her eyes. Keith wanted to say something but got interrupted by Lindsey’s phone which began to buzz. He stared at her as she walked to the bed picking up her phone, she rolled her eyes picking up the call.
“Did something happen?” Lindsey asked, she didn’t have that mother-and-daughter relationship with her mother Angela so there was no need to fake it in front of Keith. Angela gritted looking at the caller ID. “You should at least be nice to me Lindsey, if not for anything because I’m your mother,” Angela said and Lindsey smirked. “Is that why you called huh?” Lindsey asked and tried ending the call but Angela stopped her. “I got your call this afternoon, what was it about?” Lindsey stared at the caller ID before placing the phone on her ears. “What did you say?” She asked just to be sure she actually heard him right. “I said I got your call this afternoon, what was it about,” Angela said repeating the exact thing she had said earlier. “Oh about that, I was trying to call someone else, you don’t have to worry,” Lindsey said and quickly ended the call without giving Angela the opportunity the talk.
After the call, she glanced at where Keith was standing previously but he wasn’t there anymore, she smirked not bothered, she walked into the bathroom and after a fresh bath she lay down and slept off.
The next morning, Lindsey woke up refreshed just like the previous day but then she had a big day ahead of her, she quickly dashed into the bathroom and in less than an hour, she was ready to leave for the press conference. She walked downstairs and met Keith already dressed and was having his breakfast “Breakfast is ready ma’am” Chef Ann said with a smile plastered on her face. Lindsey smiled back at her but she didn’t have any appetite for food so she didn’t honour her invitation.
She waited for a while until Keith was done with his breakfast before they left the villa.
Arriving at the venue, there were tons of reporters, even more than Lindsey had expected and imagined. They flooded their car like a bee that found its honey but thanks to the security guards, they were able to get in without any interference from the reporters.
The press conference started with Georgina addressing the issue that had happened at the wedding two days ago and then calling at Leen who walked out looking like a shadow of herself. Lindsey fought so hard to prevent the tears cluttered in her from dropping, she was going to apologize and make it up to her later.
Leen tended her apologize taking the blames for everything that happened and the event came to an end, the Winslow family had refuse to entertain any questions from the press to Leen and took her away immediately after she apologized.
“This is going to be the end of it right?” Lindsey asked approaching Georgina, she didn’t forget what Leen had said to her and she knew that her relationship with Leen was going to go sour if the Winslow family succeed in sending her to jail for something she didn’t do. Georgina turned towards her and smiled “sure, she would be released tomorrow so you don’t have to worry” Georgina replied sounding all sweet. Lindsey stared at her for a while and then at her friends there, she recognized them from her wedding party “Hi, nice meeting you all again” she greeted bowing slightly. “It’s good to see you too again young Mrs. Winslow and I’m so happy that frenemy of yours didn’t succeed in ruining your wedding party” One of the women blurted. “You should avoid her, she isn’t good for your reputation my dear,” Another said. Lindsey just smiled without saying anything. What was there to say, they were obviously judging from what they were told.
“You need to run along now my dear, you can’t afford to miss your flight,” Georgina said. Lindsey Inhaled, she had forgotten about the honeymoon trip with Keith, they were to leave for Paris today. “Thank you, see you later,” She said before she walked out. She walked gently, she knew that Georgina’s friends won’t stop staring at her until she was out of sight.
She found Keith discussing and laughing with Audrey “hope I’m not interrupting anything” Lindsey said walking towards them “of course you are, your entire existence is” Audrey thought smiling at Lindsey “Not at all” Audrey said. “I’m sorry about Leen, I know how it feels to find out your friend isn’t who you think they are” Audrey added trying to sound pitiful but Lindsey wasn’t just convinced, she didn’t like her aura and had a feeling Audrey wasn’t a friend to her. “Thanks,” she said simply and then turned to Keith “The airport chauffeur is waiting, we need to go before we miss our flight” Lindsey said. Keith was silent for a while, he stared at Lindsey and then at Audrey. “You should go, you can’t miss your honeymoon,” Audrey said, she didn’t mean it and felt like beating Lindsey and pulling all her hair out. Keith snared before he hugged Audrey bidding her goodbye and then left with Lindsey.
Audrey clenched her fist staring at them as they entered the car, she kept staring until the car was out of sight. She reached for her phone dialling a number as she walked towards her car. She snarled dialling the number again before getting into her car and after a while, a lady picked up the call. “Hi, welcome to_” “I know who I called” Audrey shushed her “Do you have any available ticket to Paris now?” Audrey asked. “Please wait a moment,” The lady said after a while she spoke again “Not at all ma’am, everything is booked down till Friday evening, Do you want to book a reservation?” She asked politely. Audrey closed her eyes and opened them almost immediately “Friday, that’s like five days from now” she asked. “That’s correct ma’am,” the lady said. There was silence for a while before the lady spoke again “Do you want to book the flight?” She asked again killing the silence. “Yes and I don’t want any disappointment, I will send you the details now,” she said and ended the call without waiting to hear what the lady had to say, she quickly sent the details to her before driving out.
Leen was taken back to the police station after the press conference but two hours later she was brought out again to the visitors counter where Georgina and Thalia were seated waiting for her. The room was filled with silence as neither of them said anything to the other, after a while, Leen broke the silence “Did I do something bad to you to warrant all this punishment?” She asked staring deeply at Georgina. Georgina glanced at her, she wanted to tell her about the threatening messages she had received from her but then she decided not to do so. What was there to confirm, it was quite obvious that Leen was the one that sent it, she had wanted to suspect Audrey but Keith had told her that Audrey didn’t know more than the engagement party. She obviously thought they had married because of love at first sight and not because of any contract deal.
“You would be transferred to Sangote prison where you would be serving your sentence terms by tomorrow,” Georgina said. “I demand a trial, I want to hire a lawyer” Leen objected making Thaila and Georgina Scoff. “And do you think we are going to let that happen, we already trailed you and found you guilty so you would be spending at least five years behind bars until everything cools off,” Thaila said. Leen felt like slapping her but she couldn’t because of the glass window. Leen shifted her gaze to Georgina wondering where she had gone wrong for her to lose five whole years of her life all for nothing. She wanted to object but Georgina shushed her “I didn’t come to ask for your opinion, I came to inform you, Sangote is a lovely place to be and I’m sure you would enjoy it,” Georgina said. Leen allowed the tears in her eyes to flow freely she couldn’t even think right again and she kept wondering why Lindsey would sit still doing nothing while the Winslow family punish her.
“We would take our leave now,” Georgina said standing up, she stared at Leen sizing her up for a while before she left with Thalia. Leen kept screaming their name begging them but they didn’t even bother to spare her a glimpse, the police came in almost immediately after they left and dragged Leen back to her cell.
Five days went by too quickly, Lindsey and Keith already settled in their hotel suite and were living just like roommates. Lindsey had called Georgina to ask about Leen and Georgina gave her a very satisfying reply “Leen has been released and I’m sure she’s doing just fine” Georgina had told her but when Lindsey tried calling Leen’s number it was switched off. It bothered her for a while but then she waved it aside hoping to see Leen again after her honeymoon.
It was a bright Saturday morning, the couple had come to the beach to take pictures for Keith’s grandfather, Chairman Winslow who has been disturbing them for some honeymoon pictures but as they were busy taking the pictures, a familiar voice called Keith from behind making both Keith and Lindsey look towards the direction of the voice. Lo and behold it was Audrey.
