Lindsey stopped looking around the beautiful garden. She frowned her face wondering if she had unconsciously run out of the Winslow Villa but then she heard a familiar voice “What brings you here Sister-in-law?” Thalia asked. Lindsey turned and saw her smiling, she looked a little shorter than the first time she meet her. “Hi” Lindsey muttered not sure if she actually heard her.
“You look sad, did mother tell you about Leen?” Thaila said walking out of the garden. “So you knew?” Lindsey inquired trailing behind her. Thaila didn’t say a word to her until they got to the outdoor bar, she sat down and signalled Lindsey to do the same but she didn’t. “Those kinds of things happen, I heard a friend whom I never thought could hurt a fly nit to talk of me but she ended up betraying my trust and stabbed me in the back, I learned the hard way that we have no friends aside from ourselves and family every other person is just a frenemy,” Thaila said.
“Leen is different, I have known Leen for a long time when everyone in school bullied me and made fun of me, Leen was the only one who choose to be my friend when the whole world including my family turned their back on me, Leen was the only one who cared for me and stayed by my side,” Lindsey said. “That’s touchy but it doesn’t change anything, I was there when Chace called her name, she’s just a bitter friend who is sad that her friend is getting married,” Thalia said standing up. She walked towards Lindsey and tapped her on the shoulder saying “I don’t know how else to say this to you but Leen is just a frenemy” Thalia smiled and walked out.
Lindsey slumped into the seat angrily and closed her eyes, Her head was already hurting her and she didn’t know how to face Leen when she sees her. She opened her eyes after a while and jerked up. Walking out of the bar she meet Keith staring at his phone, he had a big smile on his face and was enjoying whatever he was seeing.
“What’s funny huh?” Lindsey said approaching him, Keith looked up at her and the smile on his face drifted away and was replaced with a cold expression. He had come outside angrily a few minutes ago in search of Lindsey after Georgina and Angela forced him out but when he got a love text from Audrey, he felt happy again exchanging messages with her and almost forgot that there was someone named Lindsey in his life.
“We need to go to the police station, Mother gave me the contract Leen has to sign,” Keith said and left walking towards the car. He wasn’t in the mood to start any conversation with her. Lindsey hesitated for a while before she walked to the car.
Throughout the ride, Lindsey had her head buried in her phone as she kept calling Donna’s number. Donna used to be her friend and she was the lady Chace cheated with two years ago which lead to their breakup, although Lindsey wasn’t sure if they were still together she still decided to try her luck unfortunately for her Donna wasn’t picking up her calls.
She gritted her teeth getting frustrated after the tenth ring still no reply, she gave up on calling her and decided to send her a text but still didn’t get any reply even after the text ticked read. “Bitch” Lindsey snarled lifting her face, they were already at the police station and was time to face Leen.
“Do you want me to come with you?” Keith asked not sparing her a glance “Your mother arrested her so your presence would be needed” Lindsey snapped and got off the car, she walked into the police station without turning to check if Keith was coming. A few minutes after she entered, Leen was brought out, she had her hands cuffed and was putting on prison wear. “I’m so sorry bestie, I just heard about your arrest this morning” Lindsey apologized but Leen just burst into laughter “I was arrested last night after the wedding, are you using me to cover up the mess Chace created, I didn’t let him into the wedding you know that I don’t have the power to even do that” Leen fired angrily. “Last night?” Lindsey stared at her surprised, she inhaled deeply before she began again “I’m sorry, I’m going to ask the police to question Chace again and_” “Just shut it Lindsey” Leen snapped at her cutting her short. “Question Chace, he was released last night alongside that woman and I was arrested, they made it look like you never knew Chace, that I paid him to come and ruin your wedding, I don’t know where they got that story from but Do you think you would be able to find Chace again?” Leen asked, her eyes were filled with tears. “I would be charged and might even go to jail” Leen fired in tears.
Lindsey stared at her surprised wondering what she was talking about. What she was saying was different from what Georgina told her “No Leen, I was told you would be released tomorrow after the press conference” Lindsey said but then Leen burst into a peal of throttle laughter. “Aren’t you a pushover, they told you that so you could feel released and while you are away for your fake honeymoon with your fake husband they would throw me into jail” Leen fired, just then the door cracked open and Keith walked in.
He stared at Leen for a while before shifting his gaze to Lindsey. “Is it true?” Lindsey asked turning towards Keith who just stared at her sizing her up. “No, give her the contract to sign, I need to be somewhere now,” Keith said. He had no facial expression so it was hard for Lindsey to tell if he was lying or not.
“Just give me the contract,” Leen’s voice echoed. Lindsey turned to her not knowing what to do or say, she couldn’t tell who was lying or telling the truth. She walked towards her, but she couldn’t touch her because of the glass window for protection, “I promise to get you released tomorrow okay, I promise,” Lindsey said. She didn’t plan on being the bad friend that would leave her girlfriend in prison so she planned on talking to Georgina about it or using her new influence to get Leen out.
One of the police walked in and took the contract from them, he walked back to Leen’s room and handed her over the contract and pen. Leen signed her name on it before returning it to the police. Immediately after Keith took the contract from the police, he walked out of the room dragging Lindsey with him.
“Wow, what’s the newest perfect couple doing at the police station?” Miguel asked walking up to them, he had a smile plastered on his face which displayed his dimples. Keith rolled his eyes on seeing him “None of your business?” Keith snapped rudely at him. Miguel stared at Keith and scoffed before he glanced at Lindsey. “Hi Mrs. Winslow, I’m so sorry I couldn’t attend your wedding but not to worry, I would drop by your office with my own wedding gift specially meant for you,” Miguel said smiling.
Lindsey smiled “I would be expecting that and you are?” Lindsey asked hoping she didn’t sound offensive. She was still getting used to her new social status and she didn’t want to start by offending someone and landing herself a vicious enemy as every elite does.
“Oh me, Sorry I didn’t introduce myself I’m Miguel Flyheart, Your husband’s good friend” Miguel smiled making Keith chuckle. Lindsey froze, she had heard of the only son and heir of the Flyheart family but had never seen pictures of him. He was one of the elites who kept a low profile and hardly appear in the tabloids. And for fact, Lindsey wasn’t expecting him to look simple and not boastful like the others. “Mr. Flyheart, from the Flyheart family,” Lindsey said making Miguel chuckle, he understood what she was trying to say. He didn’t look like someone from a wealthy home not to talk of the Flyheart family.
“Nice meeting you, I hope we get along well,” Miguel said extending his hand for a handshake. Lindsey smiled and was about to reciprocate but then Keith stopped her. “We are actually heading out to somewhere important and for the record Miguel, we aren’t friends,” Keith said holding back Lindsey’s hand. “Sure, see you later,” Miguel said as Keith walked out holding Lindsey on her waist.
“What was that about?, the young man was just trying to be nice,” Lindsey asked, they were now driving out of the police station. “You can’t be friends with him, he is my enemy,” Keith said and Lindsey chuckled. “Your enemy your problem, not mine, you can’t tell me whom to be friends with and I can’t just stop talking to someone because they are your enemy or because you asked me to, he’s nice and friendly so whatever you both have, don’t involve in it, I have my problem to worry about” Lindsey snapped. Keith glanced at her surprised wondering what gave her the guts to speak to him that way, he wanted to talk but his phone blinked and he reached for it.
He frowned looking at the numerous text messages and emojis Audrey sent him, he even had a couple of missed calls from her. He had wanted to send a reply to her last text back at the Winslow villa but then Lindsey walked up to him which made him angry and drifted his mind out of the text. He parked carefully at the corner of the road and replied to Audrey’s text before turning to Lindsey. “Get an uber back home, I have an emergency to take care of”
