Four Days Later.
The very day everyone was waiting for was finally here, reporters were present busy interviewing the guest trying to get the biggest news to break the internet with. The event hall was beautifully decorated with flowers and colourful light bulbs.
Inside the bridal waiting room, Lindsey sat down alongside Leen who was her maid of honour and other bridal maids. They were busy capturing the beautiful moments in pictures which were going to last for a long time.
The bridal awaiting room swung open and Audrey walked in, she was putting on a white long gown with a slit which passed her kneel. She had a big smile on her face and one would think she was the bride. “Tiana asked to see you all at the rehearsal room,” Audrey said looking at Lindsey and then at Leen.
“I already learnt my part, they can go,” Leen said sitting tightly while the other bridal maids walked out of the room immediately. Audrey chuckled staring at her. “Why?, Do you think I would hurt your friend, Why would I do that?” Audrey asked. “Who said something about hurting anyone, for you to think about that, it shows you have plans to do so” Leen snapped and Audrey burst into laughter. “Interesting_” She wanted to go further but Lindsey snapped in.
“Don’t worry about Leen, just go see Tiana, I’m sure it’s important, also you need to get the ring too” Lindsey smiled at her. “Are you sure?” Leen asked, the first day she meet Audrey at the photo studio, she was always picking on Lindsey making her look like a fool. “Yes, just go, She doesn’t scare me,” Lindsey said her lashes fluttering at Audrey.
The door slammed shut after Leen and Audrey turned to Lindsey “You have a nice and protective best friend” Audrey commented. “Yes, just like Keith is lucky to have an overprotective best friend” Lindsey snapped. “Don’t tell me you are jealous Lindsey?” Audrey stared at her. “There is nothing to be jealous of” Lindsey mocked rolling her eyes. ” Indeed” Audrey nodded her head.
“Congratulations dear” She smiled handing over a wrapped box to Lindsey. Lindsey stared at her, and then at her gift “Thank you” she managed to say taking the gift from her and dropped it beside her.
“Your dress looks nice” Lindsey paused to stare at her face “most especially the colour” she pointed out “Sorry about the colour, white is my favourite colour and Keith bought the dress for me so I decided to wear it,” Audrey said proudly. “Good for you,” Lindsey said, not interested in what she was blabbing about but Audrey went ahead trying to get her attention.
“How long have you known her?” Audrey asked. “Who?” Lindsey asked adjusting her dress. “Your best friend” Audrey replied. “We meet in grade school, why?” Lindsey asked. Audrey smiled sitting close to her “I don’t know if anyone told you but you see, I and Keith grew up together and everyone thought we were going to get married but life happened_” Audrey pursed her lips stealing a glance at Lindsey, and then frowned seeing how uninterested Lindsey was. “Who would have thought you would graduate from an event planner to the bride, such things only happen in the movies ave fairytale books,” Audrey said, her mouth curved in a smile noticing how Lindsey was staring at her. “Well maybe, my life is now a fairytale” The smile on Audrey’s face faded as she turned sharply at Lindsey.
“A fairytale that won’t end in a happy ever after,” Audrey said, she was going to have the last laugh after all and not Lindsey. “Yeah, happy ever after doesn’t really exist and more importantly, I don’t believe in it, life is too harsh for such” Lindsey smiled at her. Audrey wanted to speak but then the door cracked open and Georgina and Angela walked in laughing.
Georgina’s face went sour immediately after she saw Audrey’s dress “It’s bad enough you had to attend, why didn’t you stick to the dress code?” Georgina asked throwing daggers at her. Audrey quickly stood up on seeing Georgina “Actually I_I_I_” Audrey stuttered nervously.
“I asked her to wear it,” Keith said walking into the room, he stopped to stare at Lindsey, she was covered in a white veil which was a perfect match to her white wedding gown, he blinked his eyes, shifting his eyes to Georgina. “I asked her to wear it,” He said again. “Why?” Georgina asked, clutching her fist. “Have you forgotten, I wore a white suit to her wedding, we made a childhood promise and we are just trying to keep it” Keith grinned, his eyes fixed on Georgina.
The room became usually quiet as the two engaged in a staring competition. “Errm, it doesn’t really matter does it?” Angela asked breaking the silence, she let out an awkward laugh before she continued. “He is going to give the ring to Lindsey so it doesn’t matter if a hundred girls are putting on a white dress, there can only be one bride,” Angela said those words staring deeply at Audrey as if the words were for her. “And who are you?” Audrey asked.
“I should be asking you that, oops you are the groom’s best friend who wore a white dress against the rules just to intimidate his bride, the reporters would love the article so much” Angela flashed her fake smile. There was something bad about her aura and she didn’t like her. “To answer your answer, I am the bride’s proud mother,” Angela said. Audrey stared at her and then at Lindsey. “I must say there is no resemblance and you look really young to have a grown-up daughter” Audrey commented. “I will take that as a compliment so thank you,” Angela said and rolled her eyes at her.
“Take off the clothe, if you don’t, the security will see you out” Georgina ordered. “Mum you_” Keith was saying when Audrey cut in. “Don’t worry, I will just change into something else” Audrey said and walked out of the room. She slammed the door angrily behind her, she had come with a different purpose but Georgina and Angela’s presence ruined everything for her. “You had better tell her not to create a scene here, if not, I would get her arrested” Georgina warned. Keith stared from her to Angela and then at Lindsey who just sat there without saying anything, he walked out of the room.
Audrey stomped out of the room with a frown face, she was now wearing a skimpy blue dress which revealed her features. walking down the stairs she bombed into Thalia. “Mum told me about the wannabe bride” Thalia mocked standing in front of her. Audrey burst into a peal of loud laughter, thank goodness there wasn’t any reporter around, her laugh would have attracted their attention. “Wanna be bride, I think this title should be given to the fake bride upstairs because no matter what you or your mum do, I would always be the one Keith loves,” Audrey said. Thalia could sense pride in her tune but it didn’t make her angry rather it amused her.
“Stick with your husband, I heard you are trying to get a divorce, Trust me Audrey even if you do divorce your husband, you won’t still marry my brother. Never” Thalia said emphasizing the last word. “As long he loves me, I will wait till forever, his love will always come back to me no matter what,” Audrey said and made to leave but then Thalia’s words stopped her. “How long do you think that love would last, I guess you still don’t know how love works Audrey” Thalia pursed her lips to stare at her. “Keith would start leaving with a woman, do I need to tell you what that means” Audrey’s face stiffed staring deeply at Thalia who had a smile plastered on her face. “He would eventually stop loving you, that is what would happen,” Thalia said, touching Audrey’s pale face.
“Before then, I would make this wedding, a wedding to remember for all of you” Audrey gave a lopsided grin “Good luck on that but just so you know, whatever you do wouldn’t go far well aside from creating headlines, we have invited top reporters to cover the wedding but it won’t stop the union so Good luck,” Thalia said and walked out.
Audrey stared at her retreating figure with so much anger, she wished she could just kill Georgina and Thalia that way she and Keith would be together. She turned sharply at the sound of the noise from the staircase but she didn’t see anyone there. She adjusted her face and walked out heading outside.
She stopped staring at the security guards who appeared to be having an issue with a man. She walked majestically towards them “what’s the scene all about” Audrey asked “He has no invitation, we were instructed not to allow any uninvited guests” One of the security guards said. “Did you forget your invitation?” Audrey asked looking at him, he wore a fine suit and didn’t look like a tout capable of creating a nuisance. “My girlfriend is getting married today, I love her and I can’t let any man take her away from me,” Chace said patting heavily.
“Your girlfriend?” Audrey stared at him and scoffed “Lindsey is your girlfriend?” She asked. “Thank goodness you know her, I love her so much and I can’t leave her for anyone please help me talk to her,” Chace said and Audrey chuckled. “Interesting, but the bitch said she didn’t have a boyfriend” Audrey smiled. “Come with me” Audrey instructed and they walked towards her car.
“Do you want?” Audrey asked offering him a cigarette but Chace declined “Are you both currently dating or you are just a bitter ex” Audrey asked lighting her cigarette. “We just had a minor misunderstanding but that isn’t enough to break us up,” Chace said and Audrey nodded puffing off air “Good you are sincere to me” She stared at him. “I will help you get into the party but you are going to do exactly what I ask you to do,” Audrey said, her eyes still fixed on him. “As long as it would stop the marriage, I’m in,” Chace said and Audrey smiled looking at him.
