“Lindsey stared into thin air after going through her phone, she had visited the photo studio with Keith after the contract was finalized and the pictures they took together were flying through social media. She heard her door open and turned it was Leen and her mother.
“Please not now” Lindsey sneered closing her eyes. “I’m glad you took my advice, see you have 2. 5 million followers,” Angela said showing Lindsey her phone but she wasn’t interested. “Congrats darling, I’m going to be the bridesmaid to the fifth richest man in the city,” Leen said giving Lindsey a big hug. “It’s just a fake wedding and it’s going to be a private event so_,” Lindsey said finally opening her eyes.
“Private what? Hell no, I won’t let that happen” Angela said, Lindsey glanced at her “You don’t have a choice do you?” Lindsey asked. “I do, I am the bride’s mother and Nancy is having a big wedding which you are planning and you want to have a private wedding, hell no, that’s not going to happen,” Angela said. Lindsey rolled her eyes standing up.
“Please make sure you close my door once you leave, I had a very long day and I need a good night sleep,” Lindsey said walking out on them.
The next morning, Lindsey woke up to the noise coming from her kitchen, she jerked up slid into her flipflop, she grabbed the broomstick and tiptoed towards the kitchen, trying not to make any sound. Approaching the kitchen, she tried hitting the thief but then she stopped hearing her mum’s voice. “Lindsey!” Angela yelled making Lindsey shoot her eyes open, her hands froze in the air. “Mum, what are you doing here?” She asked withdrawing her hand. “Making pancakes for my beautiful daughter,” Angela said. “Mum, don’t tell me you slept here, Mum did you sleep at my place,” Lindsey asked giving her a suspicious look. “Here… No… Not at all, w_hy wo_uld I” Angela stuttered avoiding Lindsey’s eyes.
Lindsey closed her eyes tightening her fist. she opened it a few minutes later gazing deeply at her. “Don’t give me that look, it’s not a crime for a mother to spend a night at her daughter’s place” Angela said walking out of the kitchen. “And you haven’t visited me for close to ten years now, look Angela we are better off apart, just go back to Edward I’m sure he misses you already,” Lindsey said and Angela gave her a sharp glance.
“Are you walking me out of your house?” Angela asked. “I need to go to work and I need to lock my apartment before leaving so_” The doorbell interrupted her as she looked towards the door wondering who it was, she wasn’t expecting any visitors.
She walked towards the door and unlocked the door. “Mrs Winslow” Lindsey said, she didn’t know if she should be happy with her visit or not. “Good Morning, you can come in,” she said granting her access to the house. “And I finally meet you,” Angela said and hugged Georgina making Lindsey embarrassed. “I’m Angela, Lindsey’s mother,” Angela said proudly breaking out from the hug. “Oh, I remember you, from the office video_nice to meet you, I’m Georgina,” Georgina said smiling.
“Do feel at home” Angela said as they both sat down. “I made pancake do you want some?” Angela offered. “No, I’m actually on a no-fat diet maybe next time” Georgina declined smiling. Angela tried talking but Lindsey was fast to speak “Hope there isn’t any problem?” She asked, stealing a glance at Angela. Angela was a sweet talker and loves long conversations, especially unnecessary ones, if she didn’t cut in as she did, Angela was sure to go on and on about things that doesn’t matter.
“We fixed a date, this weekend would be perfect, we thought it would be nice to get married soon to avoid the public clouting over us,” Georgina said handing Lindsey a brown envelope. “That’s quite thoughtful of you but Lindsey is my only daughter and a private wedding isn’t very much appreciated” Angela snapped In even before Lindsey could say anything. Georgina smiled at her “we would be hosting two thousand guests, five hundred from your side while the rest comes from ours, you can include their names on the list and we would send out invitations to them” Georgina said looking at Lindsey who looked confused.
“Are you with me Lindsey?” She called staring at her. Lindsey shot her face up and looked at her. “Yes, I will do that” Lindsey said faking a smile. “Hope you are okay with that Mrs. Roach?” Georgina inquired looking at Angela. “Yes, but don’t call me Mrs. Roach, Call me Angela, technically I’m still single so no need for the marital title,” Angela said making Georgina stare at her and then at Lindsey.
“You aren’t? _so you are divorced?, like a divorcee” Georgina asked getting interested. “Yes, you could say that but I prefer the term single,” Angela said and Georgina nodded her head still looking at her, she tried to talk again but her phone interrupted her. She glanced at it and rolled her eyes. “I have an important issue to handle now, please read up the rest and you can call Keith for his opinion,” Georgina said standing up to leave. “I would do that, thank you” Lindsey smiled. “Sure, see you later,” Georgina said and left.
Lindsey turned to her mum immediately after Georgina left. “What was the whole motherly only daughter love all about?” Lindsey asked. “You are welcome ungrateful daughter, we got five hundred invites thanks to that, even if I still think it’s unfair compared to the number of invites they have but it’s better than zero,” Angela said. Lindsey shook her head walking towards her room.
“Oops least I forget, I would be needing 450 invites, I have a lot of friends to invite,” Angela said raising the pitch of her voice. “You must be joking Angela, you get just five invites” Lindsey shouted making sure she hears her.
Georgina walked into her office only to behold the face of angry Mrs. Hales. “Where is my daughter?” Mrs Hales fired staring deeply at Georgina. “I don’t have her” Georgina simply said sitting down. “You don’t have her, then who does, she was last seen at her engagement party which was stolen by another girl and you sit there to tell me that you don’t have my only daughter huh” Mrs. Hales yelled. “With all due respect, Mrs. Hales, nobody stole any engagement party, my son found out that your daughter got missing and improvised with the event planner,” Georgina said. “I see, improvised and they are getting married when my daughter is still missing huh?” Mrs. Hales asked.
“You don’t expect me to sit and wait till your daughter is found, even if she’s found the marriage won’t happen because my son has to marry the girl he proposed to” Georgina growled standing up. “I don’t know about your family but the Winslow family worked hard to achieve success and build a respected name, we have a reputation to protect and we can’t afford a public stunt at this crucial moment, I already involved the police and your daughter would be found understand” Georgina let out each word with so much authority. “I see, reputation indeed and your son couldn’t get a bride for himself, I would go to the press and tell them everything I know about this madness and that public stunt you are trying to avoid would eventually happen and that dumb family name and reputation would be dragged to the mud” Mrs. Hales paused staring deeply at Georgina.
“I don’t care if you have more money than my family or you’re from a higher class than me but I would make you and your family regret this” Mrs. Hales said and turned to leave but Georgina’s words stopped her. “Your daughter had a lover, he isn’t in New York, it’s such a coincident that they left the same day, you should take your threat to them not me,” Georgina said. Mrs. Hales turned and stared at her for a while before stomping out of the room. Georgina signed grabbing her phone from the table, she quickly dialled Keith’s number and after the third ring, he picked up his phone.
“Have you heard from Sophia, her mother is throwing tantrums and I’m scared she might want to create a scene at your wedding” Georgina said immediately after the call connected. “I haven’t mum, and I don’t care,” Keith snapped driving, his eyes fixed on the road. “Going somewhere, it seems you are driving, Are you going to see Lindsey,” Georgina asked and Keith scoffed rolling his eyes. “Will talk to you later,” he said and ended the call without allowing his mother to say anything. He packed carefully at the garage and alighted.
He locked slightly at Audrey’s office door and opened the door, he smiled walking towards him expecting an embrace but Audrey wasn’t in the mood to give him any. “I got you flowers,” he said staring at her but Audrey didn’t say a word. “Did I do something wrong?” Keith couldn’t help but ask, the last time he checked they were in good talking condition and they even spoke yesterday night. “When were you going to tell me about your marriage plans with that dumb planner,” Audrey asked looking at him, her hands folded beneath her big boobs. “You should let that bother you, it’s just a fake marriage so it’s not going to affect our love,” Keith said touching her hair gently. “And what happens when you start falling in love with her, Keith I’m giving up my marriage because of us and you are getting married” Audrey sneered. “Just trust me, Lindsey isn’t going to last long, I’m sure she would want a divorce soon,” Keith said, he leaned towards Audrey and kissed her softly.
“Did he sign the papers?” Keith asked and Audrey shook her head negatively. “I just informed my lawyer yesterday and I moved out of the villa. He has no choice but to sign it” Audrey said standing up, she walked towards Keith dragging him close to her, she kissed him hard before whispering into his eyes “Make sure you make that marriage a living hell for her” Keith grinned picking her up, he walked with her to her office table where he laid her down gradually, shattering some files and making them fall to the ground. Keith kissed her forehead then her lips tasting her chocolate-flavoured lip gloss.
He slowly got on top of her getting in between her legs, his hands everywhere and when everything was off, he made slow sweet love to her while whispering sweet nothings into her ear.
