“So. What about the winter food storages?” Hope asked as they began to walk towards the food warehouse. Harley held the tablet towards him and tapped against the new word document that the alpha Layton had typed this morning. He scrolled down the list of things that were assigned to alpha Layton and went directly to his duties with Hope.
“We need to check if it will be enough.” Harley said as he glanced down at her while she nodded slowly.
“And what if it’s not enough?” She asked, glancing up at him as he shrugged his shoulders and tucked the tablet under his arm.
“We’ll all have to die.” He chuckled when she smiled, only to feel her cheeks warm up and glance away from the thought of his confession once more.
It wasn’t as though she would just pretend he didn’t say anything. Or even ignoring it was just too hard for her to bear. It wasn’t easy in fact. He told her he had feelings for her.
How on earth was she supposed to feel the same way she felt when he didn’t tell her?
She gasped in shock at the warm breath behind her ear, causing her to step away, only to hit into Harley who glanced down at her in confusion.
Her eyes glanced around until her shoulders eased at the sight of Ace. He smiled as he glanced down at her, chuckling under his breath at her reaction when he blew into her ear, since she was completely unaware of him walking behind them.
Harley sighed out as he glanced away from Ace, already feeling irritated by his presence. Ace grinned out, noticing Harley’s annoyance but didn’t say anything. Instead, he looked back down at Hope who was massaging the ear he blew on.
“Where are you off to?” Ace asked as he leaned suddenly, getting Hope to step back a bit as his face was a bit too close. She ended up hitting into Harley again.
“Um… To the warehouse.” She smiled awkwardly as she leaned from Harley when Ace leaned away, noticing her weird reaction. He raised his brows as he stared down at her, getting her to glance at the ground instead.
Ace shifted his eyes and directed them towards Harley who glanced from Hope to him as well. Harley furrowed his brows at him as he stood there, staring uneasily.
“What happened last night?” Ace asked plainly as he stared at the two, getting Hope to clench her jaw as her cheeks warmed up once more. “You two are acting strange. No, not the both of you, but Hope.” He said, dropping his eyes down to Hope who looked away instead.
“You’ve been here for a day. Don’t act like you know either of us.” Harley scolded as he grabbed Hope’s shoulder and pushed her forward, careful enough not to push her too hard. Ace narrowed his eyes as he watched them walk away before walking towards them again.
“I’m pretty good at reading people.” Ace said as he fell into pace with them, getting Harley to clench his jaw. Wondering why on earth Ace was still following them. “Hope is in fact pretty much an open book. Plus it’s mostly because I like her, so I want read her a lot more than others.”
Hope bit onto her lower lip as Ace talked, feeling Harley’s grip on her shoulders tighten a bit. Obviously because Ace just plainly said he liked her in front of Harley.
“Do you want a degree for that?” Harley asked as he hissed at Ace who smirked at him. “You really get annoyed that easily, don’t you Harley?”
“Do you like me too?” Harley asked sarcastically as he rolled his eyes at Ace who pinched his lips together and smiled at the same time.
“Even if I was gay, I doubt I’d even be able to kiss you on the cheek.” Ace chuckled out as Harley stopped walking and sighed out before turning to Ace who smiled mockingly at him.
“We’re kind of busy. What do you want?” Harley asked as he led go of Hope’s shoulders.
“What happened last night?” He asked as he glanced back down to Hope who still glanced elsewhere. “Did you two mate?”
Hope chocked on air at the overly plain question Ace had just asked. Almost as though he wasn’t even trying to twist his words but get straight to the point.
Unlike Hope, Harley wasn’t really shocked at the question so he didn’t really react to it just like Hope did. In fact, he knew Ace was thinking about it and was going to ask.
“So what if we did?” Harley asked with crossed brows. Feeling really annoyed. “Is there a problem?”
“No.” Ace shook his head in denial and glanced down at Hope once more, noticing her red face as she clenched her fists and stared hard at the ground. “Did the both of you want it or just you.”
“What kind of question is that?” Harley sighed out as he pinched his brows in annoyance. “We didn’t mate. I just got drunk and confessed my feelings for her. That’s why she’s acting a bit off.”
“Oh.” Ace chuckled out as he ran a hand through his hair, signing out in relief. “For a second there I thought you were being serious about mating with Hope.” He laughed out as he shook his head a bit. “I nearly felt the urge to kill you. But since it’s just mere words, I guess I can forgive you for that.”
“Who the hell do you think you are?” Harley asked with a bored expression. “Forgive me? Do I need to even be forgiven for anything?” He rolled his eyes. “Don’t think yourself so high and mighty. Like I said before you have no authority or power here.”
“I will have it soon.” Ace grinned out. “I’ll marry Hope so I guess I’ll practically be higher than you. Not that I’ll take her Alpha spot, in fact I like it that way. But I’ll practically become a male Luna.” Ace laughed out at the thought of becoming a male Luna. As though such thing happened. The husband was supposed to be alpha and the wife the Luna. “But either way. You two are supposed to be best friends. So keep being best friends and I’ll become her mate.”
