“I just heard.” Kelvin suddenly appeared through the door way as Jason sat at the edge of the bed, staring down at his freezing feet as he yet remained bare chested.
A frown made its way on to Kelvin’s face as he noticed Jason was ignoring him like always. However, he wasn’t here to insult him as he usually did. Rather, he was here just so he could clarify and see how he was doing.
“Not going to talk to me just because we’re in a competition?” Kelvin asked with an annoyed tone as Jason sighed out and reached his hand into his hair, still not answering nor turning to him. “I’m not here to make your life worse like I always did.” He rolled his eyes as he watched Jason stand from the bed and walk towards the bathroom instead. Completely making him feel as though he was actually dead since he felt ghosted. “You seem to be taking the sharp end of the knife that Melanie who seemed to really be hyped about getting loads of money from the job my dad gave her.”
“What do you want, Kelvin?” He asked as he reemerged from the bathroom whilst Kelvin walked to the bed, throwing himself onto it as he sighed out from the relaxing softness of the blanket and mattress all together.
Feeling as though he could melt right into the mattress right then and there.
“If you have nothing better to say, you can leave.” Jason narrowed his eyes in annoyance at Kelvin who shut his eyes on the bed, as though tempting to sleep.
“If I annoy you so much, kill me and say I accidentally stabbed myself with a kitchen knife while trying to see if my skin is hard enough to bend steel.” Kelvin rolled his eyes as he spoke dramatically and sighed out whilst standing up. “For all the reasons, I don’t like you.”
“There is no surprise there.” Jason rolled his eyes back as he walked towards the closet, pulling out is jeans and a shirt.
“So why are you acting as though I’m bothering you by proposing for your hand in marriage?” Kelvin chuckled out mockingly as Jason furrowed his brows still facing the closet. Feeling utterly annoyed with Kelvin’s very presence. “I came here for Emily.”
“Like I told you before, there are no strings attached. I was caught off guard that night-”
“You explained that to me already almost a dozen times. I’m not here to ask about what you’re thinking.” Kelvin frowned at Jason who glared at him and sighed out after a while, easing his shoulders as he fully turned to Kelvin now.
“Then what is it?” He asked as he watched Kelvin grin out. “I have a lot to do. I have to clear out the house, I have some files to deliver, I have my beta tasks-”
“Yeah, yeah. You don’t need to brush it into my face that you have better things to do than listen to me.” Kelvin waved his hand around, forcing Jason to clench his jaw in annoyance as his irritation was just starting to reach its peak.
“Just say what you want.” Jason said through gritted teeth as he clenched onto his clothes tightly.
“I don’t love Emily.” Kelvin said out plainly, getting straight to the point and almost causing Jason to choke on nothing but air.
Jason stared down at Kelvin, completely taken aback by the words he just muttered out. Something he didn’t expect the over protective kelvin to say. It was almost entirely unbelievable.
“If it’s because of me, I swear-”
“It’s not because of you. Or what you did…. Well maybe it is because you were born perhaps. So maybe this is all your fault.” Kelvin shrugged his shoulders as he leaned onto his knees and glanced up at Jason who rolled his eyes. “But that’s not the main thing. I don’t love her because of what you did with her. In fact, I was going to forgive her and make her fall in love with me but she proved to me more difficult than I thought. She doesn’t want to let you go that easily that she’d even pretend to live happily ever after with me.” Kelvin sighed out as Jason clenched his jaw uncomfortably.
Emily was truly a very stubborn girl sometimes. He knew that about her since he had practically grown up with her.
So he knew Kelvin was telling the brutal truth.
“She didn’t even treat me like someone she should be in love with. Rather, she treats me as though I’m just like an annoying cousin. Or a half brother. I found it annoying but I just had to wait a little longer.” He chuckled out weakly as he sat up and sighed as he glanced at Jason. “You divorced with Melanie because you don’t really love her. Maybe you used to, or you really don’t and you thought you did, but at least you got to fall in love even for a few years into the marriage. But the case between me and Emily would be just torture to the both of us. We would pretend to be deeply in love when we’re not. Because she’s in love with you.” He explained and Jason shifted his gaze to the floor as he swallowed a lump in his throat.
“Her love for you is rooted in the past you spent together. So even if I spend time with her now. I’d have to spend twice as much time with her as you had with her. But that’s going to take too many years.” He said with a slight frown. “I was on the verve of quitting and going back home, but then she fell sick in the morning. We both headed to the hospital and we found out she is pregnant. Obviously its not mine since we hardly got close enough to even kiss. So it’s yours, Jason.” Kelvin pointed out as Jason’s face paled instantly as he glanced towards the ground in terror.
