“Isn’t it too early to like someone-”
“You never really support how I feel about anyone… Harley.” She frowned as she glared at him with tears glistening her eyes. “The first time I told you about Ronan, you didn’t look like you cared… You didn’t really smile often on our wedding… And now this?” She asked as the tears steamed down her face. “We’re so different, but we became close, but you never supported my relationships with anyone. Are you even really the best friend I had in the past?” She asked as he stared at her in shock.
“Hope… I….” He trailed off as he glanced down towards the ground. “Don’t let Ace make you think that way… Please.”
“It’s not Ace… I’ve been thinking about this since…” She sighed out, rubbing her fingers against her eyes as she sighed out shakily. “Sometimes I feel like I just don’t know you…”
Harley glanced away from her as he clenched his jaw tightly, feeling the empty horrid feeling he didn’t ever want to feel crawl into the pits of his stomach.
“So how long have you been thinking about it?” He asked as he kept his eyes to the ground, feeling completely weak.
“Since you faked being happy on my wedding.” She frowned at him clenching her fists as she watched him. “You think it was funny?” She asked as he shook his head in denial. “I wasn’t the only one that noticed you were so against it… You were the only that didn’t even shake his hand, or even talking to me the entire wedding unless I asked you something first and that was only after the wedding…” She pressed her lips together as she cringed her face in disgust. “Why do you act this way?”
“I can’t tell you-”
“Why?” She asked, more like demanding for an answer.
“You wouldn’t want to even look at me if I did. You’d have stopped calling me your best friend years ago…” He sighed out shakily as he laced his fingers and bit onto his lower lip, glancing up at her. “I wouldn’t be your best friend any more.”
“Maybe because it’s just a stupid reason!” She hissed out, causing him to flinch as he took a step back, knowing she was now too annoyed to talk to.
The expression on her face was clear to him.
He’s pissed her off completely.
“You’re so selfish…” She sniffed as she glanced away and wiped her tears from her eyes. “You only care about how you feel… You’re always so inconsiderate…. You don’t care if your best friend deserves to fall in love. Just because no one’s ever fallen in love with you doesn’t mean it’s everyone’s fault!” She hissed out, suddenly switching from her crying to pure rage. “Maybe everyone finds you too annoying!” He gasped as he stared at her.
“Do I… Annoy you?” He asked weakly as he stared horrified at her.
“Yes you do!” She hissed out, glaring at him. “You annoy the living hell out of me!”
He frowned deeply as he clenched his fists and furrowed her brows at her.
Waiting for his comeback, she was taken aback when he turned sharply and left the spot, walking away from her.
Her rough breathing suddenly subsided as she had realised what she had just said. The adrenaline masking her rational thoughts suddenly cleared, forcing her to come back into reality.
She’s never fought with Harley before to this extent.
Their fights were usually on silly things like flour buns. Never something this serious….
“Shot… What did I just day…” She whispered to herself as she stared at the direction Harley had disappeared off to. “Damn it Hope!” She screamed out as she threw her arm over her eyes as she threw her head back, facing the sky. “Speak with your mind next time…” She groaned out as she continued to speak to herself.
“It’s not your fault.” A voice whispered into her ear, startling her as she jumped back, only to ease her shoulders when it was Ace. He smiled down at her and she weakly smiled back. “It’s not your fault, Hope.”
“Still… I shouldn’t have said all that…” She sighed out as she glanced towards the ground. “I even said I doubt our friendship… And that he’s annoying…”
“Well if it’s true you can’t really blame yourself for saying the truth.” Ace reached out and lifted her chin with a finger, directing her to look up at him. “If you doubted your friendship, you should have told him back then so it hurts less now.
“But Harley…” She trialed off, biting onto her lower lip. “I can’t really think of him being just another person… I mean… We have always been together and… Stopping feels very uncomfortable and unreal.” She whispered out.
“But what kind of best friend would he be if he won’t support your relationships?” He asked as he glanced down at her. “He knows I like you, I told him that but he said something dark to me… It was like he was using my own story to attack me. As a matter of fact, he was indeed using my story to attack me. Me made me feel like I wasn’t so important to anyone in my pack. That that’s why I was easily thrown out. That even my parents wouldn’t try to stand up for me.” He frowned as he glanced away. Hope widened her eyes in shock as she stared at Ace.
“He… He said that?” She asked in terror as he nodded slowly.
“Harley might be nice to you, but he’s probably not nice to everyone else. Maybe the feeling you get that you don’t know him, you should take seriously.” He stared at her with a concerned gaze. “You might get to know him even more when you decide to let him go. I mean… What kind of friend wouldn’t be happy with you on your wedding and not tell you why?” He tilted his head as she glanced towards the ground in thought. “Maybe… He made Ronan feel insecure about you… That’s why you both turned separate ways…”
