Sighing out for the hundredth time, Kelvin couldn’t help but feel his own body shake just from the words he had just said, the feeling of fear and the feeling completely being alone.
It almost felt as though the responsibility was for him to handle alone, and he was scared….
“We don’t have to tell them right away.” Emily pointed out as she still watched him hesitate. “We can tell them later.”
“The people in the clinic might eventually spread the news faster than you could even say anything.” He ran a hand through his short hair as he glanced around for a bit before dropping his eyes on her. “Gossip gets carried away like wind.”
“I told them not to tell anyone.” She shrugged her shoulder as she glanced down at the now ruined envelope. “I told them it was a surprise gift to my parents so I don’t want to ruin it.”
“And you believed them?” He asked with a chuckle as she nodded in agreement. “Well you must really trust them to actually tell them that.” He pouted his lips as he glanced at the floor in thought. “So what do we do till then?” He asked as he glanced back to her.
“What do you mean?” She asked, suddenly feeling a chill run up her spine as she watched his eyes glance around for a moment, without needing his head to move even a bit. Almost as though telling her ‘isn’t it a little too obvious to ask that?’.
“I mean about Jason.” He pointed out, dropping his eyes back on her. “What do we do about that?”
“What do you mean?” She asked again, this time furrowing her brows as she stared into his eyes. He blinked a few times and raised his brows, noticing a slight irritation in her gaze.
“What else would I mean, Emily?” He rolled his eyes. “What do we do about him?” He pressed his lips together when she glanced elsewhere. “Fine then, I’ll tell you what to do. Stop thinking about him. Stop caring. This time, draw all your attention to me and no one else.” He pointed out and she glanced at him with a somewhat mild shocked expression. “You have to make me fall in love with you. Or else I’ll cowardly back off.”
“Are you threatening me?” She chuckled out as she stared at him with raised brows. “It’s almost as though you’re black mailing me.”
“I don’t care how you take it but I promise you this, if you don’t treat me as your fiancée or boyfriend or husband or whatever, I won’t be able to put up with it.” He frowned when she sighed out, glancing away again. “If you can’t, let’s not go through this-”
“No… No I can.” She sighed out as she threw her hands in the air, only to weakly drop them to her side. “It will take time to get over him-”
“I don’t care how long it takes as long as you eventually do.” He clenched his fists as he stared down at her. “You better make me catch feelings for you or else it won’t work like I said.”
She bit onto her lower lip as she ran a nervous hand through her hair.
Non of them really had much of a sexual feeling towards each other simply because they both built up their walls for the other not to reach. Not that they were even trying to climb the walls, they just didn’t bother ever since the mating ceremony. The rejection was enough evidence they wouldn’t be able to match once more.
“Okay…” She nodded as she glanced up at him. “We can make things work. It’s only hard if we don’t try…. Right?” She asked with a small shrug of her shoulders and he nodded slightly, though without much of an expression.
“Okay.” He nodded once more as he glanced towards the ground for a moment, inviting in a silence between then that only lasted a few seconds before he glanced back at her, this time, with a serious gaze. “Kiss me.”
“W-What?” She blinked as her cheeks suddenly warmed up at the request. It was too sudden and unexpected, making it hard for her to even process it as she rephrased it in her mind a couple of times, wondering if she heard wrong. But she didn’t. “K-Kiss you?”
“Yeah.” He nodded as he watched her nervous gaze.
“Like right now?” She asked, more of a whisper this time and he nodded in agreement once more. “Right here?” He nodded again, looking rather serious about it that she was fully convinced that he wasn’t joking around.
She glanced around herself first, trying to count how many people were around to watch them. Luckily for her there was hardly anyone around to witness it.
She cleared her throat as she walked closer to him, feeling her stomach tingle as her nervousness rushed through her body.
It would be the first time they were actually sharing a kiss, having not known if they actually did share a kiss before. Even if they did, it wasn’t a real kiss, merely a kiss without thought.
He stood on his spot, unmoving as she bit onto her lower lip. Her forehead nearly brushing against his lips at how close they were. She clenched her jaw and built enough nerves of steel and decided to go of it.
She rose on her toes and shut her eyes as she raised her chin high enough to his. She leaned in closer until their lips stroked, forcing her throat to close up at the moment they touched. She pressed her lips slightly against his for a moment before leaning back, only to be stopped as Kelvin reached his fingers to her chin and grabbed hold of the back of her head, bringing her lips back onto his. She gasped internally at the unexpected move but kept her eyes squeezed shut as he deepened the kiss, pressing his lips against hers so roughly.
Despite his sudden ‘bring back’ action, he didn’t have the kiss lasting long, instead, he leaned away and stared down at her with a rather sad expression. She raised her brows in question as he moved his hands from the back of her head to her cheeks, cupping them slightly.
“This won’t work…” He whispered as he let her go. “I didn’t feel anything…”
