“Heel.” The werewolf pinning Harley down growled out as Harley still resisted and tried to push it off. “Or else we’ll kill the both of you.”
“No need to start a war.” The man holding the bag of clothes sighed out as he pulled some pair of shorts and held it in front of Harley. “transform back young man, there is no need to be aggressive. He merely glazed her skin.
Harley stared at the man for a moment, growling under his breath as his claws scratched against the grass, his pure rage radiating out if his body. He eventually gave in, knowing the werewolf wasn’t going to let him go and the overall weight of the beast was weighting down his back.
He transformed back as the werewolf stepped back as well, not wanting to crash his human form. He snatched the shorts from the man handing them out and wore them in an instant. The shorts were slightly bigger, as these rogues had much larger body frames, but it wasn’t too big, they would still hang on around his waist just well.
Harley shoved his way past the man and towards Ace with clenched fists while Hope remained on the ground, failing to stand from the bite on her thigh.
The moment Harley got close enough, Ace stood up and grinned at him, only to have Harley shoved him back brutally, causing him to fall back in the process, surprising him of how much strength in the shove Harley had.
“What the hell was that!?” Harley hissed out as he stood defensively in front of Hope.
“I’ve just proved she’s not that strong.” Ace shrugged his shoulders as he stood up and grinned. “She whimpered faster than I thought she would.”
“Because you bit her!” Harley defended. “If she knew it wasn’t a friendly match, she would she you down within seconds.” He hissed, getting Ace to chuckle out.
“Still defending your alpha?” Ace asked with raised brows and a mocking expression. “Well of course you would. She’s your alpha and she’s stronger than you. Even I would feel ashamed.”
“I’m not ashamed of Hope. She’s much stronger than you think.” Harley clenched his jaw and dug his fingers into his palm as he clenched his fists tighter. “Since it’s over, you can leave.”
“Oh no, I’m not.” Ace shook his head as he chuckled out. “I’m joining the pack. This was just to prove you’re not as strong as you think you are. You’re still weak. You assume every match is friendly, even with a stranger. If I were to have the slightest intent to kill you, I would have by now because you are already wounded.” He pointed out as he glanced down at Hope who frowned deeply.
“But this wasn’t supposed to be-”
“He’s right, Harley.” Hope interrupted Harley who glanced over his shoulder and down to her in shock. “We weren’t being careful enough as an alpha and beta should be. We were careless. We got too comfortable and trusted him.” Hope sighed out as she struggled to get up to her feet. Harley instantly wrapped her arm around his neck for support as she got on her feet. “You still want to join our pack?”
“I will.” Ace nodded then pointed with his eyes towards the man and werewolf still on the field behind them. “Try convincing them. But after what they just saw, I bet you’ll have to work hard and come up with a very persuasive speech.” He laughed out lowly, getting Harley to glare at him.
“So is it okay for you to just leave them like that?” Hope asked as she flinched at the pain, getting Harley to frown in worry for her. “Won’t they get a little aggravated?”
“We’re rogues, were not bound to each other, we just walk together just to protect each other and nothing else. We haunt alone but just travel together.” He shrugged his shoulders with a small nod to his own words. “As I said. I was sent here to talk to you, so even if you decided to kill me, they wouldn’t care less about my death. They would live their lives as normal as possible. Plus, I’m not personally involved with any of them since I’m new and the youngest.”
“How long were you with them?” She asked as she stared right into his eyes.
“Three months at most.” He nodded as he gazed at the sky in thought, wondering whether or not it really was three months if not less.
“Then what the hell were you doing before then?” Harley asked, getting Hope to smile apologetically to Ace who didn’t seem bothered at all.
“To become a Rogue you need to belong to a pack, correct?” Ace raised a brow in question as he stared at Hope instead. “Well I was obviously in a pack before then. If I wasn’t, I would be a wildling.”
“Why did you leave your pack?” Hope asked, almost telling there was a dark reason behind it from the look in his eyes. To put some icing on the feeling, he grinned out menacingly as he folded his arms to his chest, sending a shiver down her spine as she anticipated the answer.
“I was in a fight with the alpha’s son for the position as the next alpha.” Ace smirked out as Harley rolled his eyes in boredom. “The custom we grew up with was that the strongest had to become alpha, but spending my time sparing with him proved I was far much stronger and we held a ceremony for a friendly fight. Just like your game, but slightly different, we don’t bite but knock the other unconscious, then and only then is the winner determined.”
Harley and Hope stared at him horrified at their competition. It was really a brutal kind of match.
“So I went up against him. He didn’t faint but he was well out of shape and could nearly stand, I was weak as well, he was good competition, I’ll give you that.” He nodded as he chuckled out. “Even after the match was declared over, the still made him alpha. I got very angry that I ran up the platform in my form and snapped at his head, with the intent to kill him. Luckily it didn’t. The only thing it did was leave a scar on his chest, cheek and across his face. He, as the new alpha, banished me the moment he recovered. So here I am.” He smiled out plainly.
