Emily gazed towards the floor as Kelvin remained silent for a moment, feeling the complete pour of irritation all over his entire body. He felt angry.
Yes he did.
“When you rejected me my father was the first person I had to talk to, since I was here to mate with you. That was the main point I came here. Your father even agreed to it and so did your mother.” He sighed out, clenching onto his hair as he shut his eyes. “He was surrounded with a bunch of guests and when I approached him he looked almost surprised I was still walking around. But with the nervous look on my face I think he got the hint and excused himself from his friends and we walked into the lounge. He then asked why wasn’t with you at that moment and it took a moment for me to say it.”
He let go of his hair and glanced down at the carpet instead, not wanting to look troubled to her at all, since the reason he gave her was fair enough. But he had his own share of misfortunes in this and he also had to put himself as a victim, even for a little while.
“I explained exactly what I thought was going on between you two.” He sighed out with a small chuckle as he recalled his own statement.
“What did you tell him?” Emily asked, clenching onto her dress as she stared at him. For an odd reason, she felt as though the reason was just as bad as she thought it was. It was probably nothing good, since Kelvin didn’t know the story.
“I told him the beta was secretly messing around with the alpha’s daughter, even though he was married and that Jason had probably gotten jealous seeing us both, that’s why he chased me out.” He chuckled out, biting onto his lip as he watched her paled face. “He didn’t believe me of course, because he didn’t believe Jason would end up doing that to the alpha’s daughter.” He shrugged and Emily sighed out slightly in relief, though she wasn’t still comfortable with it.
“But, instead of trying to investigate about it, he instead stood up from his couch, crossed the small distance between us to me and slapped the living soul out of me.” Kelvin laughed out as he held onto the cheek his father had slapped, and that was when Emily had noticed it was a bit swollen, though not too noticeable.
“It hurt… Didn’t it?” Emily whispered as she got onto her feet and reached out for his cheek, surprising him with her sudden action when he wasn’t expecting it.
She placed her tender soft palm against his cheek, softly stroking it with her thumb, getting Kelvin’s cheeks to slightly warm up at the gentle touch.
“It stung.” Kelvin nodded as he shut his eyes and leaned into her palm, enjoying her warmth. “My face turned red a bit with his imprinted hand on my cheek. I was so startled since he’d never really beaten be up before. He then began to yell at me at how I’ve always been a very excellent son and yet I had to fail the one thing he would be really proud of.” He explained as he opened his eyes and stared at her. “He thought I just chose not to go through it just because he though I didn’t like you overall. That I didn’t find you attractive at all, so he got really furious about it and called me a selfish bastard.”
“Why didn’t you tell him?” Emily asked as she let go of his cheek. “That I rejected you?”
“He wouldn’t let me even try to explain myself because he was just so furious that even his anger blocked off his ears completely. ” he chuckled as he imitated by covering his ears then dropped his hands to his side. “I had to wait until he finished raging on me and quite down a little before I could tell him what happened. It took a while since he started explaining of how well and wealthy our families combined out get. How I would be the most admirable man on earth, being an alpha and a CEO of his company in the future. The dream about it really excited him and he wanted it to fall into plan. So when I failed, you know how disappointed he was…” He chuckled out, running a hand through his hair as she nodded slowly.
“He had a very smart plan, but mates aren’t just tools… It’s all about the feelings and emotions involved.” Emily said in a mummer as she glanced towards the ground and pouted her lips.
“I know that very well.” Kelvin smiled slightly. “So when he called down I told him properly. I explained why it wasn’t my fault and how I was also caught of guard by it. As expected he didn’t believe it and went out to search for answers himself and that was when he found out you were really close to Jason and in the morning, he heard you spent the night with him and he finally believed me.” He sighed out heavily as he chuckled. “He apologised for slapping me, as I said, he never laid a hand on me. But his plan to wed the both of us didn’t leave him even after he found out. He then talked to your father about it and I heard he agreed to it.”
“They told me this morning in fact.” She sighed out with a nod of her head. “I was so angry when they told me about it. I really felt my heart belongs to Jason and Jason alone.”
“But… Now that he said that… Are you still going to wait for him?” Kelvin asked as he clenched onto the carpet, staring at her. “What if he never comes through.”
“He already said he didn’t love me.” She bit onto her lower lips as tears streamed down her cheeks. “Why should I keep waiting….?” She shook her head. “He only wanted to use me… Right?”
Kelvin glanced away as he clenched his jaw, feeling uncomfortable that he had to out her through it and she had to listen to him. But it wasn’t his fault, she had to know.
