Chapter 41

Book:The Alpha King's Lust Published:2024-6-1

(Two weeks later)
Even after Jason had told Emily he didn’t have feelings for her, he didn’t apologise as Kelvin wanted him to. Instead, be simply brushed off the thought and continued his daily routine as the beta of the pack.
Kelvin, on the other had still remained in the pack despite his father leaving for the city, since he had unfulfilled business in the pack. His father was well determined for Kelvin to become the alpha but Emily still didn’t take it in and accepted him just yet.
Though she wasn’t showing any signs of even being interested in him, Kelvin still enjoyed her company and spent time with her, talking about anything he could thing off and avoiding nth topic of Jason. He really did not want her to cry like she did a few weeks ago.
She spend a few nights wailing into her covers and since he was just in the next room, he could hear her crying through the walls and couldn’t help but feel guilty for it.
“So, Emily, how are things going on now?” Valentine asked as he placed down his fork onto the plate after finishing his deliciously made pancakes. Pancakes glazed with some syrup and others with homemade cream topping and some nicely thin sliced strawberries and grapes.
Emily glanced up from her plate and towards her father who smiled at her, almost confusing her as to what he was referring to. They weren’t talking about anything since they were all eating silently.
Around the table sat her mother, her father, Kelvin, Jason, Melanie and herself of course.
“What thing?” Emily asked, shoving a few strands of hair from her forehead to her ear, pining them into place.
“Things with Kelvin.” Maggie, her mother asked with a soft smile as she glanced to her daughter.
Kelvin, having to be drinking down come apple juice chocked at the question and instantly looked away from the table as he coughed out the juice from his throat, whilst hitting against his chest to clear out his throat.
He really didn’t expect to hear that since they only talked to them about it privately and separately. It was only more uncomfortable for Kelvin and Emily since Jason had to be sitting at the table with them, listening on the conversation that they, obviously, would prefer to not have him listen to.
“I thought… I thought you asked me that yesterday?” Emily asked with a slight frown as she glanced at her mother who blinked innocently as she raised her brows in question.
Her father, on the other hand tapped against his chest and glanced around with an obviously faked confused expression.
“Yesterday?” Valentine asked with a shrug of his shoulders as Maggie shook her head vigorously in denial. “I don’t remember asking that… Do you honey?”
“Nope.” Maggie denied without a second to waste, clearly lying. “No I don’t remember a thing.”
“You two are lying.” Emily frowned at the two as they shook their heads innocently. “Why are….” She paused as a sudden feeling of nausea creped up her throat, lingering on her tongue and neck. She straightened her back a bit and blinked a few times, getting Kelvin and the rest to stare at her in confusion. “As I was saying, why would you be lying!?”
“We’re not lying.” Maggie defended her husband who nodded his head in agreement. “More over, we’re getting old….”
“What does that have to do with the question?” Emily whined out as she crossed her arms on her chest and glared at her parents.
“Isn’t it obvious?” Valentine pouted his lips and flashed his eyelashes, getting Emily to cringe slightly.
“It wouldn’t hurt seeing little feet running around the mansion.” Maggie giggled as she wiggled her fingers on the dinning table to imitate the feet she was talking about. Valentine smiled cheerfully at his wife and nodded.
“And little giggles, someone I can Carey over my shoulders and skip down the hall way during Christmas whilst singing ‘jiggle bells’.” He sighed out in admiration at his thought as he gazed towards the ceiling, getting Kelvin to chuckle lowly and clear his throat when Emily glared at him.
“Don’t laugh, Kelvin. You’re only encouraging him.” Emily rolled her eyes as she folded her arms across her chest and sighed out. “You two are being desperate…”
“Since when have old men and women never gotten desperate?” Her mother defended herself and Valentine nodded his head vigorously in agreement.
“It’s only natural.” He added and Emily frowned at him. “But all things must take time. Isn’t that right Emily?”
“Yes.” She said without a moment’s hesitation as she sighed out in relief.
Kelvin smiled at her and continued to drink the remaining juice he had left in his tumbler.
Emily sighed out once more and grabbed her milk scone, taking a large bite off of it and chewing angrily, clearly feeling pressured at her parents’ indirect way of telling her they wanted grand children.
She wanted to have children, of course, but with the man she was in love with and no one else. But the man she was in love with didn’t love her back. Instead, the man willing to love her wasn’t of her interest.
She could only feel confined.
Swallowing the food in her mouth, she opened her mouth for another bite when the nausea kicked in once more, this time stronger than before and nearly flowing out of her mouth. She managed to hold it down as she sealed her lips but it kicked in even more harshly, causing her to make a sound.
At this point, everyone noticed her trying to resist the urge to vomit out.
“Honey, are you okay?” Her mother asked, looking worried as she stared at her daughter who suddenly stood up and covered her mouth with her hands.
Emily held up a hand as she tried to hold it down but it was a little too much that she ended up leaving the table in a second, and rushing towards the doors and to the nearest restroom.
Along the way, she couldn’t stand each second of the feeling and getting to the restroom in time was only a miracle.
