Chapter 30

“Excuse me Alpha Hope, but one hour is nearly done and we can’t let you go on like last time.” The guard suddenly barged into the room, swinging the door wide open only to stare at the alpha and beta wrapping their arms around each other. He furrowed his brows as he thinned his lips into a straight line, feeling irritation crawl under his skin as he suspected the worst they could have possible wanted a room for. “Is this why you needed a room!?” He thundered, getting the two to jump in shock as they glance towards the door and let go of each other. “You have a mansion, couldn’t you have done your romantics there instead!?”
“You know, you have a problem with me sometimes. You keep yelling like I’m a child.” Hope whined as she walked towards the man with a smile on her face.
“You are just another child of mine,” he chuckled, patting her head once she was close enough. “But that doesn’t excuse you of having a romantic session in my training room!”
“We’re best friends, not romantic partners.” Hope rolled her eyes in with a chuckle. “I was just hugging him. Right Harley?”
“Just because you’re best friends doesn’t mean you’re immune to sharing similar feelings.” The man sighed out as he frowned at Harley who smiled back him with a shrug of his shoulders. “I will tell Ronan about the two of you.” He threatened, getting Harley who widen his eyes as he shot his glance to Hope who unexpectedly chuckled.
“Tell him. He won’t do anything about it.” She chuckled out as she walked from the guard and into the corridor.
“And why not, hm?” The man asked with raised brows as he crossed his arks over his chest, watching as Hope walked away.
“Butler, tell him.” Hope waved her hands in the air, referring to Harley who rolled his eyes with a heavy sigh before turning to the man.
“They’re divorcing.” He simply said with a shrug of his shoulders as the guard widened his eyes in shock.
“Why?” He asked in a whisper and Harley leaned in to his ear.
“Don’t tell anyone. But she found him cheating.” He nodded before leaning away as this man clicked his tongue in annoyance.
“Blood bastard.” He sighed out. “I never trusted the lad. He rarely trained nor was he cheerful like Hope. In fact they seemed as though they were complete opposites. Not in a good way, but in a terrible way. A match made in hell, that sort of thing.” He said as Harley simply stared at him, unsure if he should agree or not. “But you know, there’s a man I think would suit Hope really good. I believe he’s had eyes for her since long but is shy to tell her his true feelings. Simply watches her from a distance doesn’t want to approach her. Think that man is definitely worthy to be her husband.” He pointed out, perking Harley’s interest as he stared at the guard in curiosity.
“And who’s this man?” Harley asked only to have the guard burst out laughing out.
“Why? Do you want to kill him?” He laughed out, getting Harley to furrow his brows in confusion.
Why would he want to kill him?
“No…?” He shrugged his shoulders as the man slowly came to a stop from all his laughing.
“You’re the man, Harley.” He said as he smiled at Harley who widened his eyes in shock. “You won’t admit it. In fact I feel you’ve been holding back from the truth for a long time. You like Hope, more than a friend but you’re afraid to tell her just because you think your friendship will fall apart once she finds out or once she rejects you. But you should know that even if she rejects you, you can still be close to her. If you try to run away from the truth, it will catch on eventually with a very serious test along with it. Tell her how you feel.”
“Hope’s just my best friend.” Harley rolled his eyes nervously as he looked from the guard to elsewhere. “I don’t love her that way.”
“Then why aren’t you married yet, Harley?” He asked, getting Harley to glance at him. “Everyone had been asking that question for a long time. Wondering when Harley would get married. Who would he marry? Then we connected the puzzle and realized the only woman you think is worthy enough is Hope, but since she was married, you had nothing else to do.”
“I was just busy training-”
“Training with Hope.” He cut him off, getting him to frown deeply as he stared at the guard. “Your focus lies on Hope alone, you can’t really expect me to believe you just value your friendship to the point she’s your only focus. You have mixed feelings involved. If you reveal yourself as a man to her, she will never see that you are a man.” He warned as he stepped into the room. “By the time you realize that I’m only trying to help you will be too late, Harley. Stop thinking like a child and go get the woman you are meant to have. Before she’s taken again. This time, it will be forever.”
“Harley!” Hope’s sharp voice from the entrance down the hallway filled his ears as he glanced towards the ground. “Harley, I’m hungry come on!” She yelled again.
“You love her, Harley, just don’t fight-”
“You’re confusing me.” He furrowed his brows at her. “I didn’t feel this confused until Penelope started convincing me that I loved Hope. How on earth would I not know I’m in love if I was!?”
“Everyone can see it but you and Hope.” The man rolled his eyes in boredom. “Anyway. Go kid, Hope’s not one to keep waiting.”
“Thanks for confusing me.” Harley rolled his eyes as he waved at the guard before turning for the exit. “Have an awful day.”
“Have an awful day as well, Harley.” He chuckled as he watched Harley walk away.
“I already am.” Harley chuckled out.
“Harley!”
“Shut up Hope!” Harley hissed out but couldn’t resist a smile. “I coming you idiot!”
“W-What did you just call me!?” Hope asked as she jumped back into the corridor from outside and glared as Harley walked past her and out of the building, leaving her to trail behind. The guard smiled with a small chuckle before going back to work.
