“Okay, we’ll have to leave if we want to have a good chance of finding him in time before lunch hour, since we practically wasted most of it here.” Kelvin rolled his eyes as he grabbed onto Emily’s wrist and yanked her from Melanie’s muted gaze. “Have a great day Melanie.”
“Please don’t mock me Kelvin. It will not end good for you. Believe me.” She hissed silently as Kelvin gave out a teasing smile to which Emily scoffed at.
“I was being nice. Ever heard of it?” Kelvin asked with a chuckle before stepping out of the house with Emily. He closed the door before Melanie could say anything. Not wanting to hear what she had to say.
Probably just some insults and a dash of scolding within that.
“Have you known Melanie for a long time?” Emily asked as Kelvin let go of her hand and shoved his into his trouser’s pockets.
“Melanie?” Kelvin asked with raised brows as he glanced down at Emily, suddenly noticing how short she was compared to him. “Not really. I’ve only known since her yesterday.” He said, getting Emily to raise her brows in shock.
“Really!?” She gasped out. “You both seem so comfortable around each other. I mean, you insult each other so smoothly that I thought you knew each other.” He eventually shook his head in denial as a chuckle escaped his lips.
“No. I don’t really know her. I guess with both had a nature to feel comfortable around anyone.” He shrugged his shoulders then furrowed her brows at her, taking her aback.
“What?” She asked, looking around herself in confusion.
“I talk to you like I know you. Why didn’t you notice that too?” He asked as she reconnected their eyes.
“I just didn’t notice.” She shrugged her shoulders with a small smile.
“Maybe because you’re already used to me.” He winked with a playful grin as she rolled her eyes and shook her head.
“I just didn’t want to notice.” She explained, only to sigh out as she crossed are arms over her chest. “What will we say to Jason when we find him?” She asked as she watched Kelvin walk ahead, leaving her behind. “Kelvin!”
“You’ll say what you want to say.” Kelvin stopped on his tracks as he waited for her to catch up. “Don’t you want to say something to him?”
“Well. I do… But-”
“Then you will say it.” He nodded before proceeding to walk ahead, letting her trail behind in hesitation.
“You know what?” Emily asked as she rushed up to him and grabbed his arm to stop him from moving. “I’m kind of hungry. How about we go back and grab something to eat-”
“There he is.” Kelvin pointed out the moment he spotted Jason just at the gates, talking to the commander of the army. “Let’s go-”
“Let’s eat first!” Emily said as she began to pull him back.
“Stop trying to run.” Kelvin frowned down at her as he watched the uncomfortable face she was making trying to pull him back. She was clearly much weaker than him. “You won’t be able to pull me. Come on. We’re seeing him. I also have questions of my own.” Kelvin hissed as he grabbed onto Emily’s wrist and yanked her towards Jason who had his back turned to them. Unaware of the two getting closer.
With each step, Emily tried to pull away from Kelvin who resisted and didn’t let go of her wrist. She eventually stopped struggling as they were now much closer to him. The commander noticed the two in an instant, getting Jason to glance over his shoulder in curiosity when his eyes landed on Emily.
His shoulders tensed slightly as he turned to Kelvin and Emily.
“I’ll talk to you later.” Jason nodded to the commander who nodded back to him and smiled towards Emily and Kelvin before leaving. He watched as the commander got far enough before fully turning to Emily and Kelvin. “What do you want?” The question was mostly for Kelvin as both their eyes met with intensity.
“I’m not here to kill you if that’s what you’re asking.” Kelvin rolled his eyes as he spoke before shoving Emily forward from behind him. “You need to give her answers.”
“What answers?” Jason asked before his eyes shifted from Kelvin to Emily who glanced towards the ground with her cheeks heating up from the embarrassment.
“Come on Jase.” Kelvin rolled his eyes once more as he crossed his arms over his chest. “You mated with her and just left the next morning, leaving her clueless. You have to let her know you can’t be her mate and that what you did was a mistake. Just your own lustful feelings.” Kelvin pointed out, getting a glare from Emily but eventually brushed it off. “She’s supposed to be my mate. I’m her age, I’m not married, I don’t have a mate, never had one. While you’re married and much older than her-”
“Kelvin, stop.” Emily hissed under her breath as she grabbed his collar and threatened to chock him, but he simply brushed her small hands from his shirt.
“You know everyone will look at you differently once they hear about it. Just let her understand you don’t have feelings for her.” Kelvin continued as Jason simply stared at him with his lips pressed together.
“If you were going to say such things then we shouldn’t have come here.” Emily hissed towards Kelvin who eventually ignored her. Driving most of his attention to Jason who glanced towards the ground for a moment before meeting his eyes once more.
“Listen to Kelvin, Emily.” Jason simply said as he shifted his gaze to Emily who furrowed her brows at him. “He’s your age.”
“But you love me… Right?” She asked as she clenched her fists, staring hopefully at Jason who sighed out and pinched the bridge of his nose.
“It won’t work.” Jason said quietly.
“Aren’t you divorcing Melanie?” Emily asked with hopeful eyes as she stared at him. “We can-”
“No. Emily. I don’t have feelings for you.” He said as he clenched his jaw tightly, staring down at Emily who stepped back from him, “I have work to do. If you don’t mind.” He sighed out, running a hand through his hair. “If you have anything more to say you can find me after-” he stopped as Emily suddenly turned and sped off, running towards the mansion with clenched fists and tear soaked eyes.
“Glad she can see the big picture now.” Kelvin chuckled out as he glanced up at Jason. “Don’t worry about her. We both know this wasn’t going to work out.” He grinned as Jason glanced away in irritation. He turned, planning to leave when he stopped and snapped his fingers together as he turned back to Jason. “Oh yeah, Jason, I want you to train me to become stronger. You see, I want to become alpha for Emily. You’ll help me, won’t you?” He asked with a nasty grin spread on his face, as he stared at Jason who crossed his brows at him. “Or will you refuse because I’m taking Emily from you?”
