Azalea’s face turned pale when she heard the woman call her a social butterfly and she glared at her. “Watch your mouth!”
“What’s wrong? Aren’t I speaking the truth?” When the woman took off her sunglasses, it turned out to be Anastasia, who was Michael’s former rumoured girlfriend.
Azalea had deliberately caused trouble for Anastasia, who was rumoured to be together with Michael in the past. Anastasia had also beaten and scolded her as well because she was a nobody. If Anastasia even dared to do that back then, let alone now when Azalea was so down and out.
Azalea knew that Anastasia didn’t have any good intentions, so she avoided her and prepared to leave.
Anastasia didn’t want to let her go, so she immediately stopped her.
“Did you really sleep with another man and give birth to an illegitimate child? Tsk, tsk… You’re amazing. How could you have the nerve to have an affair with such a disgusting old man and give birth to his child? Miss Clark, you’re really a good-for-nothing.”
“What are you trying to do” Azalea asked and she tried her best to hold back her anger.
“Nothing. I just wanted to have a good chat with you. Didn’t you act all high and mighty just because you thought that you could be part of the Davis family? Did you ever think that you would end up like this?”
Azalea was so agitated that she almost exploded in anger, but she sneered instead. “What right do you have to ask me these questions?”
“Do you think that highly of yourself? Miss Clark, I didn’t know you were such an important person. If that’s the case, why did you have a child with such a disgusting and wretched old man?”
Azalea couldn’t bear to be provoked like this, so she scolded directly, “What right do you have to scold me and do you really think you can be with Michael? Why don’t you look at yourself in the mirror? Michael will only play around with someone of your status, and your goal of being his wife will be nothing but a daydream.”
Anastasia gnashed her teeth. “At least Michael will give me some attention, but what about you? You don’t even have the right to get close to him. Why don’t you go back to those disgusting old men?”
Anastasia was obviously looking for trouble, and she was going to make a fool out of herself if she continued to pester Azalea like this. Azalea was very clear about her current situation, so she did not want to be involved with Anastasia either. Just as she wanted to move past Anastasia to leave, she was stopped again. She glared at the latter and asked, “What are you trying to do?”
“I want to settle the score with you. Miss Clark, did you forget what you did to me back then? I can still remember it clearly. Back then, you bullied me because you had Meadow’s support and I’ve been holding a grudge against you. I’ve been thinking about how to get my revenge and I realised that this is a perfect opportunity!”
Azalea took a few steps back with her child in her arms when she heard Anastasia’s intention was to seek revenge, and she looked at the latter cautiously. Back then, she had been entirely defeated by Anastasia in a one-on-one fight. Now that she was holding her child, she was definitely no match for her as well.
Of course, Azalea wouldn’t foolishly let Anastasia hit her. “Miss, you have to think it over. I’m holding a sick child in my arms and I’m pregnant as well. If you do anything to me, you’ll be in big trouble.”
“Are you threatening me with your own child? You’re really shameless.”
Azalea was no longer afraid when she saw that Anastasia felt threatened. “Aren’t you the same as well? If I can’t be with Michael, neither can you! If you have the time to annoy me like this, you might as well go and look for another man and stop daydreaming! You will never be able to be with Michael!”
Anastasia gave Azalea a murderous glare. She wanted to hit her, but she was afraid that Azalea would frame her for hurting the child. In the end, Azalea gave her a sneer before taking the child and leaving quickly.
Anastasia was so angry that her face turned livid and her hands slowly clenched into fists.
She wanted to provoke Azalea at the start, but she didn’t expect herself to become so agitated. The thing that made her even more upset was that she couldn’t vent her anger as well.
Anastasia went to the cafe upstairs angrily. Just as she took a sip of the coffee she ordered, someone sat down right across her.
She looked up in surprise and saw a man smiling at her. “Miss Baker, can I have a cup of coffee with you?”
Anastasia wanted to refuse, but she immediately swallowed her words when she saw that the man was wearing a million-dollar watch on his wrist.
“May I ask who you are?”
“I’m Mr. Leonard Floyd’s assistant,” said the man with a smile.
Of course, Anastasia had heard of him before. She knew that Leonard looked exactly like William and he was even preparing to marry Abbie. However, they had nothing to do with her at all, so why were they looking for her?
Leonard’s assistant smiled. “Miss Baker, you must be wondering why I’m looking for you. I won’t hide anything from you either. Mr. Floyd knows about you and Michael, so he’s planning on helping you.”
“I don’t need anyone’s help.” Of course, Anastasia would not believe him so easily, so she refused immediately.
“Don’t worry, I know you won’t believe me and it’s normal for you to doubt me. However, my intentions are sincere. Mr. Floyd loves Miss Clark very much, so he doesn’t want anyone to pursue her. Since he found out about you and Michael, he’s keen on helping you fulfil your wish.”
Anastasia’s expression was extremely uncomfortable because she was very clear about her relationship with Michael. They had told everyone that she was Michael’s girlfriend and she even accompanied him to go on trips, but only she knew the truth. In reality, Michael had just hired her to put on an act and he had no interest in her at all.
She lowered her head and said, “You’re wrong. I have nothing to do with Michael, and he isn’t interested in me at all. We don’t have that kind of relationship.”
Leonard’s assistant naturally didn’t know that Anastasia and Michael’s relationship was just for show, and he even thought that she was still putting on an act. “You’re pretty and I know that you like Michael as well. Have you ever thought about marrying Michael and becoming the daughter-in-law of the Davis family?”
Anastasia certainly wanted that to happen, but she knew that it was just her fantasy because it was impossible. Anastasia shook her head and said, “No! I’ve never thought about it.”
“Miss Baker, you don’t have to pretend anymore. Michael is talented, capable, and handsome. I’m sure you’ve thought of marrying someone like him and my intentions are really sincere. Mr. Floyd thinks highly of you and he thinks that you just need an opportunity. He’s willing to give you a chance, so you’d better think about it carefully. You can seize this opportunity and gain a high status as well as marry the man of your dreams. You won’t have any chances to do this once you lose this opportunity, so why don’t you think about it?”
Anastasia certainly wanted to consider it, but could this stranger really help her?
She wasn’t sure of it either and Leonard’s assistant could tell that she was hesitating. “It’s normal that you don’t believe me, so how about this? I’ll give you some time to think about it, and this is my business card. You can call me when you’ve made your decision.”
