Chapter 1688 It Will Be the Same

Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

The doctor repeated, “I said that the child has epilepsy. Something like this will happen again at any time. Be more careful in the future!”
“How could this be? How is this possible? How could my child have epilepsy? This must be a mistake!” Azalea raised her voice and asked.
“It isn’t. His symptoms are symptoms of epilepsy.” The doctor answered with certainty.
“It’s impossible. It must be a misdiagnosis! Michael, our child can’t have epilepsy. I don’t believe it! Let’s change to a good hospital for another examination!”
The doctor was a little unhappy by Azalea’s suspicion of his medical skills. “If you don’t believe me, it’s up to you. It’ll be the same even if you go to another hospital.”
“Let’s change to another hospital immediately. Michael, let’s go!” Compared with Azalea’s gaffe, Michael was very calm as he believed the doctor’s words. After all, the child did not look normal. He had thought that there was something wrong with the child’s IQ, but he didn’t expect it to be epilepsy.
Azalea did not believe that her child was suffering from epilepsy. She immediately sent the child to the best hospital in B City for another examination.
Michael was annoyed, but he couldn’t refuse. He held back his impatience and accompanied Azalea to another hospital with the child.
The most capable doctor in the hospital checked on the child while Azalea waited outside nervously.
Michael went to the corner to smoke. An hour later, the doctor came out with the results. As expected, the results were the same as the previous doctor.
This was an examination done by the most capable doctor in B City, so the result was obviously not false. After hearing this, Azalea howled and fainted.
The doctor pressed Azalea’s philtrum and smoothed her breathing to help her come to. After more than ten minutes, Azalea slowly woke up.
When she woke up, she started to cry again. Azalea had never expected that her child would have epilepsy.
She had always regarded this child as a bargaining chip. She had thought that since this child was a boy, he would definitely be raised by the Davis family as an heir. Now that the child was sick, her dream for him to become an heir was in pieces.
Michael certainly didn’t like a sick child, and neither did Wayne and Meadow. What was she supposed to do in the future?
The more Azalea thought about it, the more desperate she felt. However, Michael’s expression was calm. The doctor said that there was no need for the child to be hospitalized and that they just needed to be extra careful.
The child had nothing to do with him in the first place, so of course, Michael did not care about it. After hearing the doctor’s words, he urged Azalea to leave.
Then, Michael turned around and left. The nanny held the child in her arms while Azalea followed behind him into the car in a daze.
Along the way, Azalea’s thoughts were a mess. She kept looking at Michael, who was sitting in the passenger seat. She wanted to say something, but she couldn’t say anything when she saw Michael’s indifferent expression.
The car stopped outside the Davis family’s villa. Meadow heard the sound of the car and came out with a smile. She did not notice Michael’s expression when he got out of the car and went to pick up the child from the nanny’s arms. She said happily, “My little grandson is back! How was lunch with mommy and daddy?”
Michael laughed sarcastically and said, “It was great! So great that we had to stop by the hospital! My stomach’s still empty now!”
Only then did Meadow realize that something was wrong. Azalea was dejected, her eyes were red and swollen, and her clothes were dirty. Meadow was extremely surprised. “What happened?”
Azalea choked with sobs and wiped the corners of her eyes as she began to cry again. Michael sneered and said, “Your grandson is ill. He has epilepsy. The doctor said that he will have an attack at any time. You have to take care of him carefully.”
“What?” Meadow looked at Michael in surprise. “Epilepsy? How could this be? Could it be a misdiagnosis?”
Michael had a mocking smile on his face. “He went to two hospitals. The most capable doctor gave us the result. If you don’t believe me, you can take him to check again for yourself. I have no objection.”
Meadow looked at Michael and then at Azalea. She didn’t know what to say. Michael had been extremely impatient along the way and turned to get in his car immediately.
“I’ll be going first. I’m so hungry that I’m going to puke. F*ck.”
Seeing that Michael was about to leave, Azalea looked flustered. “Michael, where are you going?”
“Do I have to report my whereabouts to you?” Michael asked with a sneer.
“No… I mean, our child… We have to find a way…”
Michael interrupted Azalea with a disgusted look. “A way to what? The doctor said that this disease is unlikely to be cured. Prevention is better than treatment. You just have to take care of him carefully yourself.”
Seeing Michael’s expression, Azalea was desperate. “I… I… I want to take the child abroad for treatment. Michael, will you go with me?”
“If you want to go, you can go by yourself. I don’t have the time.” Michael refused directly. “There are so many people at home. You can ask anyone to go with you. My mother likes her eldest grandson so much, doesn’t she? It’s best for her to go with you, then. By the way, my grandfather likes him too. They can go with you.”
After finishing his words, Michael left without looking back. Azalea wanted to cry but had no tears. She knew that she could not expect anything from Michael, who hated her, and the only person who could help her now was Francis. Azalea hurried back to her room and called Francis for help. “Dad, my child has just been diagnosed with epilepsy. You have to help me.”
Francis was also shocked by this unexpected news. “Epilepsy? How could this be?”
“I don’t know how this happened. Dad, what should we do now?”
What could Francis do? The child being ill was something that Francis had never thought of. This was too unexpected.
It was impossible for a sick child to take charge of the Davis family, and it was uncertain whether he could grow up or not. Therefore, it was impossible for him to take over the Davis family with this child.
Francis knew that Michael had been plotted against by him and could no longer have children anymore. So far, Michael would not know that he could not have children yet, so Francis knew that he had to think of another way.
First of all, he had to calm Azalea down. Francis comforted her. “Azalea, I’ll arrange for someone to treat the child. You don’t have to worry too much.”
“Dad, it won’t be of much use if the child is cured. Michael’s attitude is completely different ever since he found out that the child is ill. What I’m worried about now is not the child’s treatment. What I’m worried about is whether Michael will marry me as planned.”
“I’m worried about that too. I’ll be honest with you. It’s impossible for a sick child to inherit the Davis family. We have to think of something immediately.”
“What else can we do?” Azalea was extremely frustrated.
“You can’t give up. You must find a way to get pregnant with Michael again.”
“But…” Azalea wanted this too. However, the time Michael spent with her was very limited, so it was not easy for her to get pregnant with his child.
Francis said, “I’ll help you with this matter. Don’t worry. How about this? Come over tonight and I’ll discuss this with you.”
