Azalea was aching all over when she opened her eyes the next morning. There was no one when she turned to look beside her, but she could hear the sound of running water from the bathroom.
Azalea heaved a sigh of relief when there was someone taking a shower inside.
Last night, Michael had helped her into the room and he immediately pounced on her before she could even turn on the light.
Of course, Azalea didn’t refuse him. Although she willingly pleasured Michael, she wasn’t completely in a daze.
She didn’t know why, but she felt that the man she had sex with wasn’t Michael.
Just as Azalea was thinking about it, the bathroom door opened and Michael came out in a neat outfit.
Azalea’s doubts were dispelled when she saw Michael and she gave him a bright smile.
She said delicately, “Michael!”
Michael was not as enthusiastic as last night and he said flatly, “I have something to do in the company, so I’ll leave first! You can go back after having breakfast, see you next time!”
Azalea was very disappointed because she hadn’t slept with Michael when she was completely sober before.
She wanted to throw herself into Michael’s warm embrace, but his attitude was too cold.
Azalea knew that she couldn’t ask for too much from him now. Michael loathed her before this, but his attitude to her was now much better than before.
She reluctantly watched Michael leave and reminded him in a delicate voice, “Michael, drive carefully!”
Michael did not respond and strode away. After Azalea watched him leave, she immediately picked up her mobile phone and posted a tweet. “I didn’t expect that I would be so happy and I can finally be with him again!”
Meanwhile, in the Clark family. Abbie called Leonard after she woke up in the morning and asked him to come to the Clark family at noon to discuss something.
After he had waited for two days, he had already guessed what Abbie wanted to say and rushed to the Clark family in high spirits.
Everyone in the Clark family was home. Richard was lazily leaning on the sofa and playing games on his mobile phone while Anna was leaning against Richard as she rattled along. However, Donald and Helen had serious expressions on their faces.
Leonard greeted Donald and Helen politely after he entered. After Donald invited him to sit down, he naturally walked to the sofa next to Abbie and sat down.
Helen’s expression was grim when she saw Leonard smiling warmly at Abbie. However, Richard smiled and said, “Abbie, you gathered all of us here to tell us something, so can you say it now?”
Abbie nodded. “I wanted to tell all of you that I’ve decided to marry Leonard.”
“What?!” Helen blurted out.
Anna immediately looked away from Richard’s phone. “Abbie, have you lost your mind?”
Donald was also shocked. “Did you think it through?”
“Of course!” Abbie nodded. “I’ve been thinking about it a lot in the past few days. I wouldn’t have been in this world if Leonard hadn’t saved me. I owe him my life and he’s a very important person to me.”
“We’re all very grateful to Leonard for saving you and we’ll repay him for his kindness. Abbie, marriage is not a child’s play and you should marry someone who you truly love. If you agreed to marry Leonard just to repay his kindness, you don’t have to be so hasty. We can use other ways to repay him,” Helen persuaded.
“I’ve figured it out, and I’m not doing this to return a favour. I really like Leonard because he can give me a sense of security. I think he’ll protect me from being hurt by anyone for the rest of my life!”
Abbie’s words made Donald’s expression turn ugly. He didn’t like Leonard, but he couldn’t do anything because this was Abbie’s choice.
Abbie would’ve died if Leonard didn’t save her. Since Abbie was determined to marry Leonard, he couldn’t object to it. After all, he didn’t want to see another accident happen again after he opposed Abbie and Michael from being together in the past.
He suppressed his anger and said, “Abbie, why don’t you think about it again?”
Anna chimed in. “Abbie, you’d better consider this seriously. I don’t think Leonard is reliable and he doesn’t look like a good person !”
“Anna, you don’t have a say here.” Abbie frowned.
“Why not? You are my sister and I am also a member of this family. I have the right to express my opinion. This is a decision that will affect your whole life. Even auntie and uncle asked you to think about it carefully, so why don’t you listen to them. Am I right, Richard?”
Anna wanted Richard to stand on her side, but he didn’t respond at all.
Anna was unset. “Richard, what’s wrong with you? Don’t you have an opinion? Are you planning to let Abbie make such a huge mistake?”
Richard continued to play his phone and he had no reaction to Anna’s words at all.
Leonard heaved a sigh of relief when he saw Richard’s reaction. Richard’s silence would mean that he supported Leonard’s relationship with Abbie, right?
If this was the case, he only needed to convince Donald and Helen. Leonard immediately made a promise. “Mr. and Mrs. Helen, I know how worried both of you are and I solemnly promise to take care of Abbie for the rest of her life.”
“You have a long life ahead of you, so who knows what’s going to happen?” Anna began to refute even before Helen uttered a word. “No one would make such big a promise so easily, so I can’t trust you.”
Helen chimed in. “I feel that this decision is too hasty. Even if Abbie is going to get married, we’ll talk about it after some time.”
“How long do I need to wait? I can make my own decisions. I’m just telling you as a sign of respect, but I don’t have to ask for your approval.” Abbie’s tone was very harsh.
Richard, who had been focused on playing his games, looked up at Abbie when he heard this. He said in a stern tone, “Abbie, what’s wrong with you?! Who allowed you to talk to your parents so rudely?”
“This is how I usually act! Can’t I decide my own marriage? All of you are my family, but I can decide on my own marriage. It’s not up to you to decide who I marry! The decision is up to me!”
Abbie did not give in at all. Helen was so angry that her face turned pale and her lips were trembling. “You… how can you…”
Richard threw his phone to the side and stood up from the sofa. Then, he quickly walked to Helen and asked, “Mom! Mom, what’s wrong with you?”
Helen closed her eyes and she looked like she was in pain. Richard held Helen and said, “Dad! Hurry up and get the medicine, Mom’s going to relapse again!”
Richard carried Helen into her room as she spoke while Donald and Anna also stood up and entered the room. Leonard stood up and wanted to follow them, but he was stopped by Donald. “My wife is ill, so we don’t have the time to entertain you right now. Please take your leave, Mr. Floyd!”
