When Abbie, who was sitting on the sofa, saw Richard, she was overwhelmed with emotions. She wanted to hug Richard immediately, but she knew she couldn’t as Leonard’s assistant was keeping an eye on her.
She couldn’t and didn’t dare to do anything for the sake of Emma.
Abbie looked at Richard with an indifferent expression, while Richard was stunned to see her.
He even rubbed his eyes in disbelief. After making sure that the person sitting on the sofa was Abbie, Richard quickly went straight to her. “Abbie! You are still alive!”
He hugged Abbie so tightly that Abbie cried out in pain.
So Richard let go of her a little. “Why didn’t you tell me that you’re still alive?”
Abbie held back her tears and kept silent as Richard held her. Braelynn also walked over quickly and touched Abbie’s face in disbelief. “Are you really Abbie? Abbie, you’re alive! This is great!”
Abbie was still in Richard’s arms. She didn’t speak, nor did she refuse it. Leonard’s assistant was anxious when he saw this scene. Where did Leonard go?
He called Leonard again, but no one answered.
The assistant was distressed and stared at Richard and Abbie.
When the assistant saw that Abbie was in a daze and didn’t have joyful or surprised expressions, he was relieved. He was worried that Abbie would change her mind after seeing Richard. If so, it would bring them big trouble.
Although Abbie didn’t respond, Richard, who was holding Abbie in his arms, was overwhelmed, and his eyes were red. “You brat! Why are you so cruel? Don’t you know how much mom and dad miss you? Don’t you know how much I miss you?”
Abbie still didn’t speak. The assistant could only say, “Mr. Clark, Miss Clark doesn’t remember who she is.”
“What?”
“Mr. Floyd happened to save her by chance when he went out to sea. She was badly injured back then and only awakened after a few months of recuperating in the hospital. After she woke up, she couldn’t remember who she was. We only found her identity recently, so Mr. Floyd brought her back to you.”
Richard didn’t believe a word Leonard’s assistant said. If what the assistant said was true, why didn’t Leonard notify him immediately after saving Abbie?
There was no way Leonard didn’t recognize Abbie. Leonard was such a despicable and cunning person. He would even use cruel means against the Floyd family, who had helped him in the past. How could he be kind enough to save a stranger? So Leonard must have known Abbie’s identity when he saved her, and he must have his purpose for keeping Abbie from them till now.
However, Abbie was now standing in front of Richard, alive and well. If Leonard hadn’t saved her, she wouldn’t have been alive. From this point of view, Richard felt he had to thank Leonard. “I will forever be in debt of gratitude to Leonard for saving her. For now, I will bring Abbie home.”
The assistant didn’t expect Richard to take Abbie away after seeing her without saying more. Leonard wasn’t here, so he didn’t dare to make a decision. He immediately stopped Richard and said, “Mr. Clark, you’d better wait until Mr. Floyd gets here.”
How could Leonard be here? He was in the police station right now.
Richard was clear on what happened, but he pretended to say, “Then call Mr. Floyd and ask him to come over immediately.”
The assistant continued to make the calls, but he still couldn’t get through.
There was an impatient look on Richard’s face. “Since you can’t get through to him, then stop calling. I’ll bring Abbie home. Just ask Leonard to come to find me when you get through to him.”
Richard said as he pulled Abbie away, but the assistant continued to stop him. “Mr. Clark, please wait a little longer. Mr. Floyd will be here soon.”
“How long will it take? If Mr. Floyd failed to turn up, would I have to keep waiting here? Do you I think I could do so?”
So his assistant called Leonard again while sweating profusely. After four or five consecutive calls, he received a call from the police station. He was told that Leonard was being investigated at the police station.
The assistant was stunned. “Mr. Floyd is at the police station? What’s going on?”
Richard sneered and said, “Who knows what’s going on? Did Mr. Floyd get arrested for prostitution? What a guy. That’s settled then. Since he is at the police station, I won’t wait any longer. Let’s go, Abbie!”
The assistant refused to let them go. “Why don’t you discuss Miss Clark’s matter with Mr. Floyd first?”
“Discuss? What’s there to discuss?” Richard sneered. “Mr. Floyd can ask me for any compensations or requests later on. If it’s within my abilities, I will make it happen. But I must bring Abbie home with me.”
“Well…” The assistant rubbed his hands anxiously. He knew that he couldn’t stop Richard.
What should he do now? Could he just watch as Abbie was taken away?
Leonard must have something to say to Richard today. If he let Richard take Abbie away without saying a word, would Leonard allow him to continue to be his assistant?
The assistant was so anxious that he was sweating. “Mr. Clark, Mr. Floyd is now in the police station. Could you maybe help us out?”
Richard didn’t say anything. Abbie, who was in Richard’s arms, said, “I won’t go back with you! I’m going to find Leonard.”
Richard tried to persuade her. “Abbie! Mom and Dad are waiting for you at home!”
“You’re just a stranger to me. Your parents are also strangers to me. I don’t want to meet strangers. I would only meet them if accompanied by Leonard. Since Leonard is currently in the police station, you have to help me bail him out.”
Hearing Abbie saying these words emtionlessly, Richard didn’t know what to say.
He didn’t believe that Abbie had lost her memories. But Abbie didn’t look like she was pretending as she was treating him pretty coldly.
Richard didn’t know what had happened to Abbie, but he felt miserable. He remembered that Abbie had forgotten Michael when she had lost her memory before.
At that time, Abbie had only forgotten Michael alone, but now she had forgotten everyone. She must had suffered through a great trauma to have forgotten everyone.
Richard was distressed, but he could only agree to Abbie’s request. “Alright, I’ll listen to you. Let’s bail Leonard out!”
The group of people then immediately went to the police station. With Richard’s help, Leonard was quickly bailed out.
Abbie was thrilled when she saw Leonard’s bruised nose and swollen face.
She thought he deserved it. A sinister man like him should be taught a lesson! Of course, she couldn’t show her happiness, so she pretended to look worried and distressed. “What happened? Who beat you up?”
Leonard felt embarrassed to have Abbie see him bruised all over, so he stammered to reply. But when Leonard saw Braelynn, who came with Abbie, he was infuriated.
He pointed fiercely at Braelynn. “You? How dare you come here?”
