William and Bobby went back to the Howard family’s old mansion. It was quiet, and no one was in the living room. William then strode upstairs.
When he turned around the stairs, he heard Hayden’s and Lucas’ laughter coming from the nursery room on the left. There were also Cade’s and Santhos’ cooing sounds.
Needless to say, Hayden and Lucas were playing with Cade and Santhos in the nursery.
William then returned to his bedroom, but Valeria wasn’t in the room.
So William guessed that Valeria should be in the gym. So he turned around and went downstairs to the gym.
As expected, Valeria was practicing yoga on her yoga mat, with sweat pouring down her face.
When she saw William come in, she stopped and asked, “Didn’t you say that you can’t come home tonight? Have you settled all your affairs?”
“I did!” William wiped the sweat off her face. “Why are you bothering with this when you’re sweating so much?”
“I’m happy to do it for my body figure!” Valeria then stood up while grabbing onto William’s hand. “Have you eaten yet? I’ll get the nanny to prepare food for you.”
“Alright. Could you eat with me? I don’t have appetite eating alone.”
“I’m trying to lose weight.” Valeria shook her head while William dragged her out of the gym. The nanny came over when she heard the noise and went to prepare food before Valeria could instruct her.
While William was having his dinner, Valeria sat next to him and watched him eat.
As she recalled Raymond’s phone call that afternoon, Valeria asked William, “Honey, did you squabble with Raymond again?”
“Why do you say that?”
“Raymond called me in the afternoon and said that something went wrong at his blind date today. There were some misunderstandings, and he asked me to ask you not to tell my parents. He told me this vaguely and didn’t want to tell me the details when I asked him. What in the world happened?”
“I can’t believe him!” William was lost for words. “It wasn’t a big deal. He went on his date today. But for some reason, his forehead was injured. He must be embarrassed as I happened to see it.”
“That’s it? How did his forehead get injured?” Valeria continued to ask.
“I don’t know. When I saw him, his forehead was covered with blood, and he was with his date at the elevator.”
Valeria was anxious when she heard that. “Covered with blood? You didn’t send him to the hospital for a checkup?”
“I wanted to, but Raymond didn’t allow me to. Besides, he was still pretty energetic then, so it didn’t seem like a serious injury. I think…” William paused for a moment. “Raymond must be unsatisfied with his date. So he tried to express his dissatisfaction by showing up in that manner.”
“I heard from my mom that his date is a nice person. What reason does he have for not liking her?”
“Romance is a complicated thing. Don’t worry about it. He’s not a three-year-old. He can handle it.”
Valeria sighed. “I don’t want to interfere, but my parents are worried that Raymond won’t get married. If he doesn’t get married, my parents will turn their attention to Cade and Santhos. Do you want to send your sons to them?”
“With my father around, no one would be able to take Cade and Santhos away. As for Raymond’s marriage affairs…” William put down his utensils and drew in the air. “According to my calculations, his stars are aligned, and he would soon have a breakthrough in his romantic relationships.”
“What are you talking about? Do you think you’re a fortune-teller or that I’m a fool?” Valeria pinched William, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
In the Saunders family’s mansion, Raymond sat on the sofa with his head lowered. There was a piece of bandage over his forehead. On the other hand, Archer and Gavin were staring at him sternly.
Raymond was anxious as he was stared at, so he could only explain, “Dad, Grandpa, you don’t have to look at me that way. I didn’t do this to myself. I’m not a fool. Why would I make myself suffer an injury?”
“We want to trust you, but don’t you have to explain how you got that injury on your forehead? Are you saying you accidentally knocked your head? Were you drunk in the day?” Gavin asked him back.
“No, I was only being careless. This is a coincidence. I didn’t know how I became like this.” Raymond tried to defend himself.
“No matter how I look at it, it looked like you were hit by something instead of you knocking into it.” Archer intercepted.
“Who would dare to hit me? Dad, isn’t your imagination running a little wild?” Raymond had a guilty conscience, so he could only deny it firmly.
Of course, Archer wouldn’t believe Raymond’s words. “Raymond, it’s no use if you don’t admit it. You have to get your mom to believe you. If your grandpa and I don’t even believe it, neither will your mom. I think you better tell us the truth about what happened. Only then can your grandpa and I help you explain this to your mom.”
“Dad, I honestly accidentally knocked into something. There is no other reason.” Archer was always on Natalie’s side, so he would surely not cover up for him. Raymond was not fooled and would not admit it.
At this moment, the sound of a car was heard outside the door. Archer stood up and said, “Your mother is back. I’ll go out and have a look.”
Seeing Archer leave, Gavin lowered his voice and said, “Tell me the truth, or it will be hard to explain later. I am on your side.”
“I really didn’t…” Seeing Gavin glaring at him, Raymond changed his words. “I didn’t do this on purpose. I’ve met with some trouble, and someone smashed my head.”
“Who smashed it? Was it a man or a woman? How dare they do something like this?” Gavin asked furiously.
“A woman did it. Grandpa, she didn’t do it on purpose either. It was all a misunderstanding, and we have solved it. Don’t ever tell my mom about this. I’m trying to hide the truth because I’m embarrassed about it.”
“It was a woman who smashed your head? Is she pretty?” Gavin continued asking.
“She is!” When Raymond thought of Anna’s gorgeous figure, there was a tug in his heart, and he swallowed his saliva.
Damn it, Anna was Andrew’s girlfriend. What was he thinking about?
“That’s great! I say, Raymond. You didn’t do anything illegal, right? Although us Saunders are rich and powerful, I would not allow you to force a woman.”
The way Gavin stared at Raymond made him feel like he did commit a crime. “What are you talking about, grandpa? Am I someone like that?”
“I actually hoped you are someone like that. That way, I can have great-grandchildren soon.” Gavin sighed.
“Grandpa, we can’t rush this. Shouldn’t I meet someone I like for me to get married to? If you want great-grandchildren, didn’t Valeria give birth to two of them? Go and bring one of them here.”
“You’re still at it. It’s all because of you spouting nonsense in front of William that Valeria brought her two children home. I wanted to visit the kids this afternoon, but Hayden guarded against me like I was a thief. It’s so annoying that he kept standing watch over me at the side. Speaking about this, Cade and Santhos are also part of the Saunders family’s bloodline. Why should the Howard family have them all to themselves?” Gavin was agitated when he recalled how Hayden was wary of him.
“Grandpa, we can’t rush this. Cade and Santhos are still young. You can’t take good care of them if you bring them here now. We should leave them to the Howard family till they’re older. Then we can bring them here when they’re one or two years old.”
As soon as Raymond finished speaking, he was hit on the head. He turned around with a grunt and saw Natalie holding a purse in her hands while glaring at him sternly.
