Book:That Stranger Lying Beside Me Published:2024-6-1

In the hospital, Aurora continued to wait outside the ICU. After Ornard left, he only arranged for his secretary to come to the hospital and never appeared again, not even a phone call.
Aurora’s heart was filled with despair. As Ornard was ready to let go of the child, what could she do without Ornard’s support?
She had given herself to Ornard since she was in college. She was only his lover whom he summons to see as he pleased. It was after she gave birth that Ornard began to treat her differently for the last three years.
As Ornard seemed to like baby, Aurora thought she could have a better life because of her son and become the only woman in Ornard’s life. But this incident smashed her hopes and dreams.
She had thought that she would be able to stand firm to endure this life and death situation with her son, but Ornard had already given up everything hastily.
Aurora had still fought against Ornard in anger and didn’t want to give in when Ornard said he wanted to give up the day before.
But when Ornard ignored her till now, Aurora realized that she was wrong. Without her son as her refuge, she was nothing.
She had relied on her youth and beauty to win Ornard’s heart, but Ornard didn’t lack women like her.
If she continued to go against Ornard, he might have a fallout with her and find another young and beautiful woman to bear his child. Then she would lose all purpose of her existence.
Aurora stood up abruptly when she understood this. She couldn’t stay in the hospital anymore, and she had to return to Ornard. The baby was doomed, and for his future’s sake, she had to hold on to Ornard tightly. She could only secure her future by bearing another child for Ornard.
Aurora dialed Ornard’s number and it took him quite a while to answer the phone. “Hello?”
“I’m tired and hungry. I feel exhausted and miserable.”
“Go home and rest if you feel miserable. Take a bath, eat something, and rest!”
“I can’t rest. When I close my eyes, all I see is his face…”
“I’m very busy. I don’t have time to listen to you.” Ornard interrupted Aurora.
When Aurora didn’t even get a word of comfort from Ornard, her heart was cold. She was never equal to Ornard, and all the good times were only illusions. The funny thing was she had fallen for this delusion. Aurora took a deep breath. “Come and bring me home!”
As Aurora had taken the initiative to call, it meant that she was giving in. Ornard replied indifferently, “I don’t have the time now. I could arrange for the driver to fetch you.”
Veronica was woken up by the sound of a car. After she got out from bed and looked out the window, she saw Aurora getting out of the car disheveled.
Ornard didn’t show up. He didn’t come back since he went out two days ago, and Veronica didn’t care about his whereabouts.
As she saw Aurora come back, the first thought that Veronica had was that the little bastard was dead.
She immediately opened the door and went out. When Veronica hurried downstairs into the living room, she ran into Aurora who was disheveled.
Looking at Aurora’s haggard appearance, Veronica was secretly happy, but she put on a concerned expression. “Why did you come back all of a sudden? How is the child now?”
Aurora saw the hatred in Veronica’s eyes. She always believed that what happened to the baby was because of Veronica. Was Veronica hurrying downstairs so that she could gloat?
So Aurora asked viciously, “How is this any of your business?”
Veronica was stunned. “What kind of attitude is that? Can’t I show my concern? Are you out of your mind?”
“You’re the one out of your mind. Are you hoping that something bad will happen to my child? How could you be this cruel? It’s no wonder that you became how you are today!”
“Are you cursing me? You bitch!” Veronica had long been waiting for a chance to teach Aurora a lesson. Wasn’t this a perfect opportunity?
She then raised her hand and slapped Aurora. With a sound slap, Aurora staggered backward. “How dare you slap me? You old and hideous witch! I’ll kill you!”
Aurora pounced forward and attacked Veronica. The both of them punched and kicked and tore at each other’s hair. After a while, the servants immediately pulled them apart frantically.
A chunk of Aurora’s hair was pulled out, and there were scratch marks on Veronica’s face.
Neither of them got the upper hand in this fight. As Veronica had never been beaten up in her life, she was so furious that she couldn’t even speak clearly, “You wretch… You… How dare you fucking run amok in your master’s house? Who gave you the courage to do so?”
“Is this your house? This is Mr. Laban’s house. You shameless bitch is only a bastard brought back from the orphanage. Did you think you are a daughter of the family? Why don’t you take a good look in the mirror and see how ugly you are? How dare you fucking act as the master of this house with me?” Aurora rebuked Veronica.
“What… what did you say? How dare you say that to me?” Veronica was trembling with anger. Her identity had always been the daughter of the Laban family, and she was used to this identity. Now that Aurora had said she was a bastard from the orphanage, Veronica would not endure it.
She cursed and was about to pounce over to beat up Aurora. The servants held Aurora and Veronica back with all their might while they could only shout at each other.
When Ornard stopped his car, he was startled by the noise in the house. He quickly walked in. When he saw the scene in the house, he was infuriated. “What are you doing? It’s outrageous! This behavior is unacceptable!”
When Aurora saw that Ornard had returned, she immediately fainted.
Veronica roared angrily, “This bitch is only pretending to faint. She scolded me and even attacked me. They are all my witnesses!”
“That’s enough!” Ornard yelled and stopped Veronica. As he looked at Aurora, who had fainted, he was furious, but he couldn’t leave her alone. So he instructed the servants, “Send Ms. Caison back to her room!”
“Why are you sending her back to her room? How dare this bitch scream at me, hurt me, and wound my face? You have to drive this wench away! I don’t want to see her anymore from now on!” Veronica started making a fuss.
“That’s enough! Look at yourself! You are behaving without any decency. Don’t you still want your dignity?”
“Are you mad at me? How can you do this to me?” Veronica cried hysterically.
Ornard flipped over the coffee table and roared angrily, “How are you so fucking annoying? I’m so exhausted and only want to rest at home, but I can’t even have peace. Do you want me to die? I can’t stay in this house anymore. Go ahead and create a ruckus!”
After saying that, Ornard turned around and left. Veronica covered her face and cried without stopping him.
Very soon, the sound of a car was heard outside and Ornard left. Veronica stopped her crying and went upstairs.
After she slammed the door shut, Veronica sneered. This was only the beginning, and the days filled with mayhem were only coming!
After being driven away by the bodyguards of the Floyd family, Azalea went to a nearby hotel in anger. The more she thought about the previous incident, the angrier she became. She then sent Emily a text. “Mom, I’m so furious!”
“What’s wrong?”
“Didn’t I come to the States? I went to the Floyd family’s old mansion, and the bodyguards there looked down on me. They threatened me with guns and even forced me to leave. This is so infuriating!”
“What… what are you doing in the States?”
“Didn’t Michael ask me to come? I came here following him.” Azalea lied.
“Then why did you go to the Floyd family’s old mansion? The bodyguards over there don’t know your identity, so it’s normal for them to treat you badly.”
“What’s normal about it? I’ve lost all my dignity. I can’t bear this! Tell dad that I will be going to the old mansion tomorrow. I want the bodyguard who threatened me with a gun to kneel to me and apologize!”
